All of these places look sick, I can't wait for the VFX shots. Hope you got some photoscans on the way too. Also, love the long hair❤️

Incredible locations! Can relate to the google earth mental imagery. Threw me for a loop when I found out pretty recently that aphantasia was a thing and not everyone visualizes objects in their mind, very fascinating!

Chromfell

i like the new version of the grave shot, very painterly

Chromfell

looking through the shots you recorded i'm pretty hyped to see all the extensions that'll turn them into surreal alien planets 🔥

Listening to your stream-of-consciousness when you look at these landscapes is so fascinating. The way you describe the colors and how they affect you is such an interesting insight in how you see the world. Being a great observer of what surrounds us is a superpower when you try to create 3D worlds on a computer.

where can i watch the tutorial about the rigid body dynamics/ dynamo

I hope you can use all the dirt-grabbing shots. There's a shamanistic element that would probably compliment the communing with ghosts thing. (Reading back, I guess that's the intention lol) The "cameraman" being looked at by the cows probably isn't a bad thing, right? It makes me think of the Pacific Rim grounded camera principle, even if it's a less extreme example. Some kind of subconscious idea of "I could have been there and filmed this myself" boosts the realism. Really looking forward to seeing how it all pulls together!

About the roughness of the watersurface, in summer I was in southafrica mossel bay and booked a shark cage diving tour and the skipper told us how they will atract the dhark with oil from fishguts and this oil layer on the surface bindes the water to make it smooth, the wind cannot ripple it. And the skipper told us that when a fish dies you get a puddel of oil about the size of tennis court and a seal is a giant area.

AH! That's what people were talking about! thank you- disabled!

Hey Ian! Just as a tip for your work flow. Try using AV1 instead of h.264 for your mp4 outputs. It has better compression while preserving your data even better than h.265. Might save you hundreds of gigabytes of data as you collect more videos you work on.

I really really love your deep appreciation and analysis of things that might get totally overlooked. I think as vfx artists being observant and curious is quite possibly the most powerful skill of them all.
