Great to see you Ian. I really like your clock idea where the hand doesn’t move. Fun video. I don’t know how to organize a sharing pool but would like to contribute when it comes together!

This was so great!!! The way you extrapolated the whole map and cultural traits from a basic thing like the sun direction is so so inspiring. I'm so impressed with your worldbuilding mind 😍

Noahs.jpgs

a lot of these "chimneys" are traditional wind traps used in desert regions, they're fascinating!

As far as the forum goes, I feel like the fastest way to see what works is to just let people start uploading and tagging stuff and give a place for feedback. If you didn’t want to be overwhelmed you could start with a couple dozen beta testers and go from there..? Also on the topic of shifts, I feel like the 3 shifts are simultaneously more and less dystopian than real life shifts. Technically speaking at any time there are 2/3 shifts not working so theoretically they could choose when to sleep and when to play during those 16 hours but maybe there’s government mandated play time? Like certain places will only let in one shift and not the other? Idk! But then irl you have 12 hour shifts in manufacturing and other stuff with a 2 days on 2 days off schedule which seems more grueling to me than 8 on 16 off but maybe that’s just me!

Dude. I will help you build that forum and maintain it. We could have a simple reputation system that allows people to upload more as people use the assets they upload. Hit me up! I build stuff like this every day with my studio team.

simple answer to your controller, use MIDI as a secondary controller,

Looks really good so far!! Digging the world building indeed!!

"Weird relationship with crowd sourcing" notwithstanding, I don't think anyone on here would begrudge contributing random stuff where you need it. With a closed creative team eventually things can start looking a bit homogenous, and if it's just barely glimpsed background design greebles that's time your team could better spend elsewhere. Design homogeneity is one of the things that annoys me about Star Wars now; because it's such a big IP everything in it has to adhere to a specific look, which kind of ruins the premise of this vast galactic civilisation. Thousands of worlds with different species and their various cultures reduced to a style guide. But that's commerce vs art in a nutshell, innit...?

That mediocore blueprint looked awesome! I’d love to know how you achieved that with grease pencil?

OH!!! I never ended up finding out what they were, cause I kept searching for Chimneys! Okay just found the article for Wind Traps- interesting! Thanks!

Schwift TV

it should be called huberdrive

Schwift TV

"so yeah, i've added it to huberdrive. check it out." just rolls of the tongue so smooth

On the metric time: just a small thing but minute literally means "a division of 60" and second literally means "a division of 3600" (1/60 of 1/60). So if you wanted to be pedantic and throw out those terms, it actually gives you an excuse to make up fun slang terms for what their "seconds" and "minutes" would be called!

Hey ian, you mentioned a shrinkwrap modifier with Geonodes, even though i scoured the net searching for that, i couldnt find any valuable sources. Would you mind sharing that to us. Community want that real bad

A minor thing, but for the sticker duplication/homogeny, maybe a random hue rotation could work, when you just want the visual noise? I guess the duplicate shapes might still stand out though. For organizing the CC0 resources, maybe a forum isn't quite the right structure for that. I feel like posting individual resources with a strong categorising/tagging system could help more. Logos and designs and whatnot could be tagged as such and then people can reuse them in whatever form factor they want. Separate to more specific like "here's my billboard advert for cricket flavoured noodles" stuff that wouldn't go on a shirt. Then a separate, er, catalog resource or something to group them, maybe? Unless the whole thing becomes more of a fake-brand library, where you could start with the Croodles logo, then someone else makes a billboard using the logo and links back. Then someone else makes the ironic tshirt of the billboard and links back there, etc etc. Building on others work could be a cool feature, and you could build these reference webs... just some croodling for you to think about i guess Testament to your humility (hubility, if you will) that you don't seem to realise that you have tons of people who would make shit for you just for the joy of seeing it in a Dynamo film lol

Me watching Lux's spaceship building videos: goddamn, why is he taking so long to release these? /// Me seeing Ian talk about how many props Lux has made: Goddamn, how does he have time to edit videos?

PixelDev

Nice video !! are you planning to make a video on how to do organic stuff ? i know you made a crab a long time ago and that something that could be very interesting, because it's really hard to get photorealistic results

The forum idea is a great idea! For these kind of images (logo, cigarette boxes, tickets...) I've lost myself on Flickr and I've found so many things from people passionate about these specific things. I highly recommend to check groups on there, most of the time it's free to use Some of my favourites are "square circle", "ephemera"....

Use hashtags for each category. If an image has multiple potential uses, use multiple hashtags on it and maybe it could just be a search instead of a browse type of situation This is a great video!

Loved this video and learned a ton! For asset sharing I wonder if there is a way to use P2P sharing with something like an Eagle-style database. https://en.eagle.cool/ I just started using it to organize reference videos for FX and film stills. This might not be what you were asking for but P2P could keep stroage costs low to free maybe?
