What platform do you think will have the next big innovation, rifles or handguns? What do you believe is the biggest flaw in each platform?

I've asked this a couple times, still interested: what are your opinions on hyper burst (SPIW, duplex, AN94, etc) and counter recoil (AN94 sorta, AK107, AEK971, etc) systems? Could they have a place in civilian centered firearms? Keep on being great, guys!

Hi. Thank you for making the most awesome content on youtube. I have a question about modern infantry rifles and their operating mechanisms. As far as I know, all infantry rifles developed the last few decades use a gas piston system, either long or short stroke piston. Why don't we see any newly developed delayed blowback rifles? And why no new direct gas impingement like the AR? All the more recent developments like the HK416 and SCAR seem to be short stroke gas piston . The G3 and MP5 were very successful. Is there something that makes delayed blowback inferior or undesirable in a modern infantry rifle?

I'd like to know your stance on fixed magnification optics as primary issue to combat troops. I was a big fan of the Trijicon ACOGs that the USMC issued to all Marines and even today run one on my 14.5" carbine setup. I know you guys have brought up 2.5x vs 4x vs other magnifications, but what is your rationale to sticking to the lower end of the magnification range given that (in my experience) even 4x is not quite enough to reliably engage human sized target at 600 meters under field conditions? In a related question, what is your take on the Bindon aiming concept

My question is about  rifle camouflage. During the recent wars, the US decided to allow soldiers to spray paint their rifles for better camouflage in the field. Additionally, some rifles that the military purchased came from the factory coated in camo colors. Do you think spray painting will continue for wars to come, or will the US and other countries settle on some new type of coating?

Per your "Is a PGO shotgun the ultimate home defense weapon?" video, I've been thinking. Since the double-barreled coach gun performed so well in everything but reloads, do you think the Chiappa Triple Threat may actually be the best home-defense shotgun out there? It has all the simplicity of a coach gun but with three barrels, well, you're covered in the event of three assailants rather than two.

If you had the choice between being placed in the Pacific Theater or European Theater during WWII, which would you pick and why? Also what rifle and pistol combination would you choose from the era and just for fun what combination would you choose from present day?

You guys have talked before about how the eastern front of world war 2 was cataclysmic, I think to quote Karl. Your old west vignettes are great videos, I know that traveling to the locations is likely out of the question, but is there any plans or any way in the future that you guys can cover clashes or large battles on the eastern front?

Ik, this is a late question, so this is optional. But, what do you guys think about that show "Weapons Hunter"? I have mixed opinions on the show, but I am fairly impressed that the guy recreated the Stinger LMG.

Long rant about mass media and TV shows in general here)

Have you tried "Hotdogs, Horseshoes, and Handgrenades" on your Vive? If so, what do you think? If not, I would strongly recommend it.

I really enjoyed the faxon Q & A series. Have or would you guys consider doing something similar, with someone in the night vision and thermal industry?  I think it would be very informative and interesting. Thanks for all of the great content.

for the dmr type rifle what about that holosun acss reticle dot with a 6x magnifier, easy on, easy off, like that bipod he runs.

Great stuff guys, love the Q&A vids. If you guys did a weekly/monthly podcast where you just talked about guns and historical stuff, I'd gobble it up.

Talking about the U.S. fighting in western and southern Europe during WW2; IMO the biggest effect of that is how it shaped to the post-war map politically, but that isn't as easy to dramatize as what is usually is on TV. But without that involvement, the post-war "Iron Curtain", which probably would have closed at Spain's northern border. That is the legacy and significance of those who fought on the Western Front, which the effects of are obviously significant. But you seldom hear it discussed in those terms and I doubt many people that weren't politicians ever thought of that at the time.

It's funny to hear Ian talking about how fake reality TV is. I live in the area and community where Amish Mafia was filmed. I know the circumstances behind the filming of some of the events and how it played out. To say it was scummy and deceptive was an understatement. One that is public knowledge was blowing up a horse & buggy with explosives on a public road near me without notifying anyone which caused a justified uproar. Even with a show sold as fake it was nothing but BS, so I just automatically assume anything that claims to be "real" is even more farcical.

Guys check out John Lovell at Teluric group out of Atlanta he has a you tube channel that's fairly new. This guy is the real deal he's an ex operator (whispereing quietly) that knows more about nods ,lasers ,thermal. Do yourself a favor and at least check out his channel Warrior Poets Society on full30 as well... great content guys

For next month's Q&A, could you go over the various cameras and other recording gear you both use for InRange and Forgotten Weapons?

Paul Suh

Would it be a good idea for you guys to have a place where people can post questions for the Q&A and have other people up-vote them, a la Slashdot? That way people could post questions at any time and you would have a good read on what interests your fans, since it's getting to the point where you probably need to cut off some of the questions.

I had an idea today, partly inspired by one question about doing a 2GACM with revolvers and another, older question about doing a vignette about the 1986 Miami/Dade shootout between the FBI and Platt & Matix. What if you did a 2GACM match where one of you guys was armed like Ed Mirales (Remington 870 and .357 revolver) and the other like Michael Platt (Mini 14 and .357 revolver)? I think that would be interesting in that you could do some revolver stuff but you could also design stages to see where the strengths of the shotgun are compared to the carbine. I would like to get your thoughts on the Mini 14 as well (FWIW, I hate them but I always like to see what other knowledgeable people think too). In this proposed 2GACM you could do some stages based on things that happened to the participants of that gunfight like shooting one-handed (with handguns and long-guns), shooting from/at vehicles, maneuvering, etc. I think it would be kinda cool and you could also do the revolver thing at the same time!

Hi guys, I'm from the UK and have no envy at all about the "extreme" regulations that pertain to firearms possession in Arizona, no way, not at all and Ursus Arctos does not excrete in the timberland :). All that aside we have just had The Weapon Hunter air on Discovery History. I have skipped to episode two as I am a gun-nut not a petrol-head. I am 8 minutes into it and am deciding whether to tax my patience watching the rest. It's just amazing that they try to add drama to a series which, as you rightly said Ian, has no jeopardy, they film the rifle in the opening credits. It should be a simple matter of finding the 5 rifles, take a modern marksman and putting him through a course of fire giving an end result. Okay that would be boring for the majority of viewers and our "heroic presenter" wouldn't be able to learn how to stalk, nor be shot with paintballs. I haven't shot an SVT, but have handled or shot the rest or replicas thereof. I am biased (and admit it) but the 10 round magazine and smooth bolt action places the No4T in first place. Please keep on with the informed content and I'll keep on watching :)
