Karl, on your WWSD rifle, why did you go with a 14.5" barrel with a pinned and welded flash hider instead of a 16" barrel? I feel the 14.5" really limits the project by not being able to test various muzzle devices.

Would you consider running a 4x ACOG with ACSS on your WWSD rifle?

If you could have an AR (10 or 15) in any caliber, what would it be?

What are your thoughts on the traditional gas system ARs vs piston adaptations (like the HK 416)?

11:08

Chris G

In regards to piston ARs, why haven't design such as the Taiwanese T-86 and T-91 (Wolf A1 in the US) proliferated in the world as much as the HK416 and its derivatives? It seems like a solid system that's been around for years.

Why is it safe-auto-semi on an AK selector lever?

How did the French adapt to a lack of a manual safety in their service rifle for tasks such as ambushes/urban warfare?

17:21

Freddie G

What are your opinions on modern striker-fired (aside from bolt-action) rifles? It seems to be a rare design with the only iterations I'm aware of being the Czech Vz 58, Japanese Type 64, the Russian AS and VSS, and most recently the QBZ-95. Why do you think this is an uncommon design for rifles when it's so prolific in the pistol world?

20:04

Jacob S

It seems that the most recent assault rifles currently being produced or that are under development (e.g. SCAR, CZ 805/6. FB MSBS, etc) are all based on the AR-18 design and have been for some time. Why do you think this is the case and do you think that there are other historic rifles that are ripe for future designs to be based on as well?

23:16

In the early years of the smokeless repeating rifle era, do know of any attempts to develop a pump action service rifle? If not, why do you think this wasn't pursued, and what problems they would have encountered? It seems like a magazine fed, pump action would have been attempted.

25:49

Brandon T

Short version: Why did "rifle revolvers" never become a thing during the relatively lengthy time period between auto-indexing pistol revolvers and multi-shot, magazine-fed rifles?

27:38

Anthony H

Why is a blowback submachine gun in 9mm Luger considered safe but blowback handguns in 9mm Luger are typically deemed unsafe and not a good idea?

29:40

Petr F

Why do all modern double-stack pistols use single-feed magazines, even though double-feed magazines are more reliable (I'm looking at you, Ian's Glock mags) and easier to feed?

32:30

Oberon

If I were to send you back in time with all the technical drawings and knowledge you wanted, how far back could you possibly go and still construct a functioning assault rifle? How far back could one go and manufacture many of them?

35:53

To Karl and Ian, a Wild West question. I've heard stories about how in the late 19th and early 20th centuries the American West was considered by many European Elites to be as worthy a location for going 'on Safari' as deepest darkest Africa (We see a glimpse of this in the 1994 film Maverick with a Russian Grand Duke). What are your thoughts on this and why do you think we haven't heard more about it? Why not 'Cowboys and Adventurers?'

38:27

Sharyn

We've seen the images of the men, the cowgirls along with the weapons that they used; what did the salon girls and other women use, and how did they carry?

What options do we have for secure 2way comms? Commercial crypto is $$$ and you can't run crypto over HAM. If only there was a 2way wireless SSH based PKI system that was open source!

During the HaH natch there were several times that you needed to engage paper pistol targets on the ground basically within arms reach. Weren't you concerned about that from a safety perspective, especially given the rocky soil? Watching those parts gave me the heebee-jeebees!

In the various 2 Gun matches, I have noticed both Ian and Karl use a battle belt type system to reload from and carry things (even showcasing such post Hard as Hell). What are your thoughts on plate carriers and chest rigs for this purpose and how popular are they for 2 Gun matches like 2GACM and others?

When shooting a right-handed bolt action rifle left handed, which hand should you use to work the action?

What are your thoughts on the Holbrook device for M1 Garand? Does it take away too much of the historical feel from the rifle, or does it provide a bit of help to the modern shooter, in a stressful environment?

I have a feeling you’ll find this a ridiculous topic, but recently I learned about the auto-glove – do you see any actual viable use for rapid-fire devices like this (or slide fire stocks, the BMF Activator, bump sticks, any other products you may have seen at Shot Show or in other travels), or are they just for fun at the range? It’d be interesting to see them in a match, but any practical application seems questionable.

Re: merchandise at the end, if there's a merch company that does patches and other things in addition to shirts, would you consider making a jump, if your network is only a merch affiliate at this point? I know two companies that have done such work for me, and who do patches. The most recent one is unfortunately in Canada so shipping is no bueno for the core US audience. But I have to imagine there will be many more where that came from. Totally understand not wanting to handle shipping directly, have tried that a few times and its never worthwhile. These guys who ship and eveything are real enablers.

Nick Champlin

I appreciate the time stamps. Used them for the first time on this one. Thanks!

Samuel K Harsha

You guys need to have more stuff in that dirty tan color in the merch page. Tan is good for sunny AZ days and doesn't get as dirty as fast as white t-shirts. I would LOVE and InrangeTV Hoodie too.

Try running running your RedDot on the bottom and the scope on top. Hight over bore matters more at close range ( door kicking with the RedDot ) and is less of a problem with long range. To avoid needing an expensive coustom mount get the cantilevered one piece Ar-15 scope mount with the picatiney rails on the top scope ring and mount your scope on top of that. I can run a RedDot ,backup sights and a 3x9 scope on an Ar-15 with no problem and only the extra weight of the scope.

A lot of European countries have some sort of a similar system of "freedom to roam" or "everyman's right" as the Finnish "jokamiehenoikeus" but in a more or less limited scope. For example in UK they've quite recently been revising this right due to the influence "rambler" activists in order to regain access to roam privately owned lands which I believe was very popular and widely used thing in the 1940s and 1950s. If I understood correctly you can currently freely roam uncultivated moors, heaths and moors there though being privately owned, usually by the local "mansion". This was something I very much enjoyed having lived a time in the county of Devon which is plentiful in moors and wild woods. In Sweden they have the concept of "Do not disturb, do not destroy" which quite well encompasses their idea of "allemansrätten". Fishing has and still is a tricky question in Finland as you can't technically hunt on private lands but I believe simple handline fishing and ice fishing, that is to say without a rod is allowed however the owners of bodies of waters have been persistent to enforce a strict policy of not being allowed to fish in any shape or form.

So, I see your point about the crypto, and switching content sources, since I still watch most of your content on YouTube, solely because it's convenient for me. I probably will never have a need to use an app like Signal, but it's nice to know about. Next thing I'd like to respond to you about is the weapons you regret buying, as I own 3 Lee-Enfields and a Type 14 Nambu. The first guns I bought with my own money were a Polish Kar 98 with a sporterized stock and a FN-49 with a S&K scope mount, but no scope, both in 7.92x57mm. I knew I'd like the Kar 98 because my uncle had a Czech post-war Kar98k in a sporter stock that fell apart. The FN was the real risk, but I still like shooting it, even though trying to get it back to Egyptian-MILSPEC is tedious. I bought the Enfields because all 3 I have were cheap, one was a WW1 SMLE, one was a US-made Savage No 4 Mk I*(well 2, but I gave my buddy the functional sporter in lieu of rent), and the last one I got too curious for my own good, and now have a Lithgow SMLE in .25-303, so I can't shoot it unless I learn how to reform brass to handload for it. Getting to the Type 14, I bought mine because it was a good deal(or so I thought), Bill Ruger copied its action(sort of) for his Mark I, and it was in nice shape. It's not at all reliable, even with new springs and well made ammo, I lost the tip of the firing pin after attempting to get it to work right for a long time, and I'm still missing the magazine disconnect spring, but it looks nice, and it's collectible-ish. I have to agree with Karl, I don't really regret buying any of them. I bought a SKS about 2 years ago, but I didn't like it. It was functional, but I was able to sell it for a reasonable price. It shot fine, but didn't engender my excitement like a SMLE or Kar98 would. I always thought it would be cool, but it irked me that the only one I was willing to pay for came with a Tapco 20-rd "detachable" magazine, then I bought a 30-rd steel mag that worked better, but it still bored me. It's not as fun as taking a MN 91/30 to an indoor range to shoot groups and have the other lanes thinking you're shooting a shotgun. Nor was it as fun as my AK-74-style SAR-2 in 5.45, or using German plastic short range training ammo out of a L1A1 and giggling like a dumbass at the plastic going "plooop". I enjoy your stories, I hope you've enjoyed mine today.

Ian, If you like metal but not growling vocals, I would recommend a few bands that (in my opinion) are pretty good: Týr (Faroese folk metal), Heidevolk (if you don't mind lyrics in Dutch) and most notably: Sabaton (almost all their recent work is about historical battles, their most recent album "The Last Stand" is excellent). Also, if you like Celtic music, you may find the Orthodox Celts interesting.

Cade Rarick

Lol, I can confirm that those bagpipes are not an indoor toy!
