This is a mostly coherent video of the first ever InRangeTV Hangout.

Participants were ok with and actually wanted this recorded, although I'm posting this as unlisted on the Patreon only page - not publicly on the channel.

We talked about a crazy variety of topics - some of them fun, some of them technical, some of them including gun nuts mounted to Robotech mechas.

I have no idea how that happened, but it was fun!

What do you all think - should we openly announce we're recording the one next month and publish the video after the hangout publicly, or is it better to keep it "in the family" like this?

Keep it in the family need to keep some perks :)

InRange TV

Oh yes, I meant the recording - not the actual Hangout, if that makes sense?

Charlie

lol, love that my ugly mug ended up as the thumbnail :D

Christopher

Keep it in the family.. hopefully next time I can attend, got caught up at work...

Chris Tremblay

Ah in that case post away. Anything that increases the Patreon count.

Christopher

True as Chris T. whatever that helps out InRange.

Christopher

Damn, is this the Chris thread?

Jay O'Balles

I'd say keep it in family for full, maybe a highlight reel for publicity and to entice people who aren't, to join the Patreon.

John Schulz

What Jay O'Balles said. Keep it in the family for us one buck a month guys.

Jonas Hunt Nilender

Had a lot of fun! My mic doesn't make me sound exactly flattering, though.. Can't wait for the next one.

Andrew Marchetta

I respect the "keep it in the family" comments. BUT... good content out in the public social media serves a greater good. Additionally, you are creators. I will blatantly say if you can get more audience, who donate more money so you can stay comfortably in business doing what you are doing then make this public.

David Heck

Keep the hangout as patreon only but post it wide afterwards

Spanky's Basement

Im fine with sharing, I personally pay for the content to keep flowing, let everyone enjoy. I would say at most post it public within a week after posting here.

Sean Smith

P&S posts a small 15 minute cut of the stuff to entice people, maybe a 10 minute cut of the MechNuts™ and tea bagging would get more people. :D Or maybe not. I am totally fine with it being shared though so that it gets distributed and maybe bring more Patreon support

Kameron Rougeou

I enjoyed it either way a good break from Hurricane Harvey we should defiantly do this again it is nice to able to chat it up with some fellow gun nerds

Ben Clayton

Yep thanks for this it's a cool perk for the supporters

Derek Martin

I think it would be fine either way maybe not post this first on but maybe post one everyone knows thats going up every 3 or 4 months. Like Sirius radio free weekend advertising.

I back the idea of Dave Buffum. Especially since we can all feel to be watched everywhere, if you would also show this public (OK everything accessible through the Internet is more or less public) that would change the interaction. Additional: Maybe there some that don’t want the background shown, don’t like them selves in a Video or are embarrass of not so super duper Video equipment and would never take part.

"Dogs have owners, cats have staff." ;-) Still don't grok why everyone [except for the guy @ 14:17 w/ glasses: points up!] persists in mispronouncing Saiga like "Sega." ["Say Guh."] Saiga is like taiga [boreal forest], only w/ an "s" instead of "t." Y'all must pronounce chowder like "chau drr" - it's "chowdah" Say it right, say it right! [/obref: Simpsons]

@ ~1:42 -- the convo revolves around "Why IAR?" The answer is "Because mobility." The Marine Corp's experience w/ the M249 was that it weighed too much for what it brought to the table, and the SAW gunner wasn't able to keep up w/ the rest of the squad to provide the volume of fire in the location it was needed at the time it was needed while rapid advance was underway. The IAR provides *enough* volume of fire, with adequate sustainability, with a greatly improved mobility for the entire squad as a whole. Marines would rather have the M240 if they're going to be fighting a sedentary, defensive action, and have the IAR for supporting fire during an assault. End of story. [Or at least that's what the USMC's own justification for the new piece of equipment said, bottom line.]

Hey Karl, just joined patreon today to support you Ian and Tim at military arms channel. Does anyone know where we post questions to be answered in a Q&A or just answered here? Just joined today so unfamiliar with it.
