Sunday morning introspection (Patreon)
Content
I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you again for your contribution to this project. You have enabled InRange to focus on worthwhile content instead of just chasing views. As long as a channel has a sufficiently large, intelligent core that can support it directly (via Patreon, etc), then that channel doesn't need to play the LCD game to get sufficient views to stay alive. However large InRange gets, or does not get, it ultimately doesn't matter when there's people like you, the core. You're the reason InRange doesn't have to be the "mud test channel". :)
I posted this on Facebook, and quite a few of the replies were requests for more mud tests (lol - which btw, we do have a few coming). I just wanted to share this with you here as well.
Here's another great reason to be wholly core-audience viewer supported in that, if you were to use views as your only monetization mechanism (assuming there wasn't a demonetization problem at all), then IRTV would become a nearly 100% mud test only channel per this data.
I realize that mud tests are fun and interesting and a lot of people like them, so I'm not saying we shouldn't have them, but I'm also saying we wouldn't want a channel that was only mud tests...at least I wouldn't, however that'd be the way to make IRTV sufficiently profitable to survive if we were based on a per-view advertising monetization mechanic.
This is exactly why cable and TV in general looks the way it does. The more ginned up and controversial the topic, the more viewers and more viewers equals more advertising dollars. So what do you do? Intentionally make controversial garbage content, even if it's fake.
Note that the real one anomaly in this list of videos below is the one OWV about Wyatt Earp killing Curly Bill Brocious. Why is that the case?
Three words: Wyatt Earp & murder.
If we had titled this instead "The killing of Curly Bill Brocious", it'd be another OWV with relatively minimal views.
Thank you again! THANK YOU.
