Flying Through the Jungle (Patreon)
Content
Talaquetzal loved that her goddess powers allowed her travel through the jungle unharmed. Tala could see sights that her fellow indigenous tribeswomen could only dream of. The other girls in her tribe were gatherers. They picked plants for meals and cooked. They didn't hunt beasts like the men of the tribe did. No warriors from her tribe needed to accompany her, to protect her. She was practically invulnerable; no wild beasts or conquistadors could do her any harm. Dangerous and massive snakes were now intriguing to her. Swift poisonous strikes from the serpents would have been deadly to any mortal man, let alone women. Even the mightiest of warriors would have perished in moments. However, snakes couldn't pierce Tala's skin.
Likewise with animals like the fearsome jaguar. Tala no longer feared their powerful jaws or claws. A jaguar pouncing upon her is now seen as being playful. Tala's strength was far superior to the big cats. They might as well be overgrown kittens. Conquistadors were the most hated of these dangers. These strange pale men from across the sea covered their bodies in metal and wielded strange, but strong sharp and pointed weapons. They regularly ambushed and enslaved Tala's people, sending them to their strange land overseas. Until Tala was empowered by the Sun God, her people lived in fear of these outsiders. Now, her tribe is protected, with the young goddess decimating entire squads of these warriors and sinking their boats with her immense power. Sadly, their leaders never learn from their failures and always send more boats full of warriors.
The most dangerous and cunning of the jungle terrors are Tala's fellow jungle immortals who ruled their own growing territories and saw Talaquetzal's little tribe as food or sport. Enemies such as Camazotz, the Serpent Queen and the Jaguar Lord have battled the teenage girl for supremacy over the jungle lands!
