Or maybe not. I have no idea. It does feel like the straight line mission is slowly capturing peoples imagination though! Any French speakers out there want to translate this for me? Sent in by Dina.

You’ve gone Hollywood mate

HarryUp

it would be even easier using Red Bull :)

Hayden Lee Lyon

Not enough "fuck! don't sink now!" going through the stream, and they should clearly be eating jelly babies.

Christophe ASSELIN

It goes like this, basically : "In my spare time, I usually hike in a straight line with my friends. We go to the top, without any detour... With Ovo, you won't do it better, but you'll do it longer."

fartman5000

"My name is Lucard, I'm going on a straight line mission" cut "so after one week of... are we filming? No we are not - Bollocks" and then "With Ovomaltine sugarpaste that does not happen"

Beth Seymour and Harley Brown

Here is my translation of it! "My name is Lucas, during my spare time I hike completely straight with my friends, we go round with no detours. Without ovo (the product) you will not arrive any better, but will go for longer!"

Guillaume Elias

"My name is Lucas. In my spare time, I hike in straight lines with my friends. We go to the top with no detours. With Ovo you won't do it better but longer" So it's a durability thing it seems. Anyways, I'm 98% sure they watched your videos

This is shameless, they could have messaged you out of courtesy... Obviously it's impossible to prove you were the inspiration, which they will have known. It is possible you weren't — but it feels improbable. The most upsetting to me is that their ending summit is so steep... You can be sure that getting there in a straight line is almost certainly impossible. Pity really; as it turns out this is a delicious product. I bring some home on every trip to Suisse / France. 100 times better than Nutella, much better quality chocolate and an amazing texture.

geowizard

I wonder if Lucas and his friends got a platinum run..

Mark Furniss

He only does it in his spare time. You do it for a job. Don’t know who’s more mental 🤣

Paul Roddam

Lucas wouldn't make it past the first patch of gorse.

Well, I wouldn't say Tom invented the "straight line mission". The type where the goal is to cross an entire country probably yes, but not the straight walking in general. I remember when I was younger I read a book about some kids that went off on a mission to walk as far as possible in a straight line. That being said, it's definitely possible that they got the idea from one of Tom's missions. But there is no copyright on the idea of walking in a straight line.

Vaimee

Ovo or Ovomaltine is a nougat producer like Nutella. I wouldn't be worried. And the 'german' version is actually swiss german, so pretty hard for normal germans to understand xD

Victor Andersson

Can't be, not enough hedges or farmers on four-wheelers! On a serious note, yes. They've definitely taken inspiration (to say the least) from your straight line missions.

Domain of Science

They definitely copied Tom, none of them are wearing gloves!

"Je m'appelle Lucas, durant mes loisirs je randonne tout droit avec mes amis. On va jusqu'en haut, sans faire de détours. Avec Ovo tu n'y arriveras pas mieux, mais plus longtemps." "My name is Lucas, during my free time I hike in a straight line with my friends, we go up to the top without deviating. With Ovo you won't make it easier, but longer"

Daniel Bohrer

I'm not sure how good your German is, but there was also this 45 minute documentary about two reporters crossing Schleswig-Holstein: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rd30FKYLsjQ Let me say, they didn't need to have straight-lined that journey, it was more for the show, and everything felt a bit too produced. And they went off the line more than 6 km too… 😛

Boezem

Way before you did the straight line mission we had some Dutch youtubers do it for a few kilometers each video, actually ringing doorbells and asking if they could go through people's houses.

fartman5000

I mean it's two guys and two girls, obviously they're completely straight

Harry Rose

I don't think Welsh Greg will want his camo gear back now
