Patreon Tutorial #25 - Redshift & Solaris In Houdini 18 - Introduction (Patreon)
Content
Hey guys, this month's tutorial will be an introduction to Solaris inside of Houdini 18. This tutorial will be available on February 4th. I will be going over a general overview of Solaris/LOPs/USD inside of Houdini 18 in conjunction with Redshift.
The first half will be showing you how to make objects, assign shaders, work with lights and many of the LOPs specific options necessary for Redshift. We will look at tesselation & Displacement in LOPs, the USD Camera, making AOVs with Rendervars and final rendering using the new USD Output with HUSK.
Part two will explore using some of the introduction knowledge to make our first environment and scatter some trees on a terrain. I will also cover the instance node, some of its options and also importing objects with multiple groups. This is going to be a fun introduction into the long-awaited and very powerful new features in Houdini and Hydra/USD. It is still very new so I don't recommend using Solaris in production yet but it has plenty of potential and will improve over time. Like usual I will include the scene files and any assets I can share.
Thanks again for all the support here on Patreon and Youtube!
