Hey guys! This is a short month so this tutorial will be about a specific new set of shaders in Redshift. As some of you may know there are two new utility shaders inside of Redshift which are pretty versatile and flexible.

The new Bricks shader has a ton of options and features to control the generation of procedural brick shapes for a wide variety of surface, whether that is for an architectural project or a castle pillar or a road. It can be a bit daunting due to how many options it has but it is a very powerful shader for the specific task of building a repeatable brick like pattern. I will cover the entire node and how all the parameters work, along with building a procedural brick shader setup for use in the future.

The Tiles shader is one of my favorite new nodes, especially in combination with Maxon Noise nodes, as it opens up a world of new possibilities for procedural shading and materials. I will go over the entire node and all the options it contains. This node is very flexible and I will show a few example uses. From procedural wood parquet tiles, bubble wrap, to light shaders, and even a texture tiling breakup trick. This is a very fun and powerful new utility shader that I think everyone can enjoy and leverage for their projects often.

I will be including the project files so you can dive into the material and investigate how it works while following along with the tutorial. This two part tutorial will be available March 4th. Thanks again for all the support!

Hi Saul, really looking forward to this one, quite a game-changer for Archviz! On a side note - an unrelated question - I am wondering whether it is possible to automatically add date and time to Houdini render outputs?
