Well done on picking up the rascist undertones, there are many that don't, that even claim the writers 'forgot' about race in this season, because they don't understand the extent to which racism presents differently in America vs Europe even today let alone 1910s New Orleans vs 1950 Paris. The trial is the most easily recognisable thing: the "stoning" is basically a lynching with a mock trial, where Lestat is not being punished at all, Madeline is offered mercy and is only really punished for aligning herself with Claudia; the way Claudia's diaries are read aloud mocking her acent, passed around the audience is all black woman's pain presented as entertainment (like the play that infantilised her and made sport of her pain - very minstrel coded); the way Louis is painted as this violent sexual predator in the retelling, harkens to the way black men have been accused of raping white women and murdered after mock - or no - trial like this one.

But yes, Sam or Santiago - whoever had a hand in writing the play - is definitely using the audiences racism. Notice how they laugh at "the accused's " pain but touched by Lestat's. There might be /some/ mind manipulation of the audience happening there, but I think it's mostly genuine

Thinking Claudia is alive still.. Bless your hearts. Keep in mind.. Louis can speak telepathically to her. Lestat could feel her presence as her maker. Not likely. Interview with the Vampire season 3 IS The Vampire Lestat. One in the same. They changed the name as the books changed. The first book was Interview with the Vampire. Book 2 is The Vampire Lestat. I'd expect series name changes as they get into each book. Season 4 will still be The Vampire Lestat. And if they make it to season 5. It will likely change names again. I want to be clear on something. Louis said they should go with Lestat's version. The truth isn't somewhere in the middle. The truth is Lestat's version. Or closest to his version. We have two narrators agreeing on the story now. Louis admittedly played down his part in all of it. As Ragland said.. "You should fear the other one." I know Louis has been our main character up until now so that makes the viewer want to be bias. But they are ALL.. Every single one of them. Toxic. All of them are beautiful messes. All vampires are born of Trauma.. except Madeline.. Who was born of love. So of COURSE she chose loyalty to Claudia. She loved her. Sam Reid's performance in these later episodes are INSANE. He should have won an Emmy. The show was completely shafted. I expect season 3 so garner some award consideration. Season 2 should have. There were fabulous performances by so many actors in this season. Just truly one of the best seasons of television EVER. Period. PEAK television. There isn't a better show on TV currently. In 2 seasons it has put itself amongst my favorite shows ever made.

Absolutely. The show is phenomenal is ALL regards. All categories.

Lets be clear on something. Louis and Claudia were not explicitly punished because of their race. They were being punished because of the coup Santiago was performing. For their roles in disregarding vampire law. Santiago wanted to hurt Armand. This was not racially motivated. They were touched by Lestat's pain because of the way the story was told. All parties were guilty. Lestat knew that as well.. Which is why he said you SENTENCE me as well. Santiago didn't want Lestat sentenced because he is the benefactor to the theater and because they considered him the victim. He wasn't kept alive because he is WHITE. There are racial undertones throughout the series. But the trial didn't have anything to do with race in terms of motivation. CONSIDER that Louis and Claudia are NOT black in the books and trial DOES indeed happen in the books.. just not as a play. As more of a private tribunal. Lestat is much more weakened in the book tribunal. While the TV show frames the trial as a moment of public humiliation and "stoning," the book version is a private, calculated purge by the coven, fueled by Lestat's desperation and Armand's cold manipulation. I will agree that public trial in front of a white audience does evoke some semblance to a public lynching however. And could evoke more of the response the coven wishes to garner in a sentence based on that. But the motives were not racially motivated.

Episode 8 is every bit as good as 7 IMO. One of my favorite scenes in TV history. You KNOW the scene.

The link isn't working for me

That's because unfortunately there was sound issues with the export. We'll get it back up as soon as possible. But I don't have an ETA - PLD

Waited my whole 12hr shift just to get to watch this and it’s not working. That’s just the best feeling ever lol

Danielle

The fact most of the episode takes place on the stage and youre on the edge of your seat the entire time it felt like watching an actual live performance. Really brilliantly done. And Jacob Anderson & Sam Reid are the heart of this show for a reason when they are on screen together it is unmatched. Even when it is just Louis reacting to Lestat. And our beloved defiant Claudia. Delainey really came in this season and stole hearts. 😢 And you’re right they were snubbed! I cannot wait for yall to see the finale.

Right there with you, was looking forward to watching with my morning workout only to find it’s not working, such a tease!

Justin Urameshi

The fact that it’s STILL not up is actually pretty frustrating. I would think that would be something they’d try and get fixed immediately
