I haven’t watched the chimera arc since I first watched it and got traumatized probably 10 years ago ☠️ so I can only say I disliked it bc it was gross and upsetting, I truly can’t say if it’s a “bad” arc in comparison to the others I’ll have to make an opinion on rewatch, it sure is the longest, most harrowing, and expansive arc

I don’t think it’s a bad arc. It’s well-thought out and very detailed hence why it’s so long. But, because of that it makes it worse since the vibe of this arc just isn’t it. Morals go out the window, etc. that’s the one thing I consistently and deeply hate to see no matter if in a show, anime, or real life. The length just draws it out to the max, and it’s borderline unacceptable and unappealing to me which is why I hate this arc so much, and it is prob the only arc in the anime world that I’ll hate to this degree and for eternity. Plus in this arc, the power levels are so incredibly unfair and one-sided for a little tho luckily it doesn’t stay that way for the entire arc. So basically, what I’m saying is objectively it isn’t a bad arc at all, but subjectively, it could go either way

In my opinion, this is the best arc, the narration and storytelling are top-tier and it really goes surprisingly deep and thought-provoking, everyone has their own reasons and there is no right or wrong, just depends on how you look at it

I disliked this arc when I was a kid because it was an arduous journey with constant pure evil. Like the others I mainly hated it because it was so upsetting, but as an adult I love this arc because of how amazingly complex the story and characters get. The character development for both our boys and everyone else is monumental in this arc, and this arc just taps into so many real-world political issues as well as our emotions. I think it's amazing how this "child's" anime can make us feel such intense fear and devastation. Can't wait for you to watch more !!

Honestly the first part of this arc made me drop hunter x hunter the first time I watched it but then, years after when I tried again, I realised I had drop it just before it got interesting. Now I can only say one thing: that I'm grateful this arc was this long because it's sooo good!!! The plot is great and you get to meet some of the best characters of the show. And also for some episodes the direction was so interesting that I felt like I was watching a movie!

Gyros (the food) should be pronounced as “yee-ro”

HxH really inspired a lot f modern shounen. That arrow move come up again and again in recent works. Also, you're right about Colt (as you called Tommy), so Gyro would be the same. That's why they've given us his backstory. We'll see him/his vision in King's genes.
