终于等到了road to kingdom!Thank you so much!

Theia

Quick recommendation before you film the other episodes. ALWAYS ALWAYS watch the "full vers." (it's titled like this on yt)! Without the reaction cuts every three seconds the performances are at least 60% more intense and will completely change up your ranking.

BaoziBang (Tali)

I can't belive you didn't recognize Eunsang. He was in X1!

Aine

I mean.. To be fair, X1 was FIVE years ago and only had one release. Also PD never followed their survival show or anything, so it's understandable they have no deep memory for any of them.

Aine

Nope! Besides the Planet series, the only Produce series they saw was Produce48 - and that was POST disbandment. I feel like I remember them saying GP999 was their first survival show watch.

laura

Couple of thoughts: I've been following Eunsang since ProduceX101 and it's the first time I've seen him this mad, he's not usually this fired up. He even changed his hair back to black because he said he looks too intimidating with the red haha. Mnet not letting Cravity perform their group performance was so unnecessarily cruel, can't imagine how much that must've hurt Hyeongjun... I'm glad they at least uploaded it to YouTube tho. You had pretty much the same ranking as me for the group performances, I think 8turn did amazing, it definitely made me interested in them as a group!! Also your talk about RTK groups losing members; Younite also lost one of their members, Hyunseung, shortly before the show, he was their main dancer. Anyways. with all that being said, can't wait to see your reaction to the next episode, it has 2 of my fav performances of the show!!

Sofia

oh i really really glad that you're watching this show, you will not regret it. and btw songs and performances on this show are insane , they keep getting better and better each round. i looking forward to you getting to know each of these groups better (specifically these that you aren't good familiar with ). i myself fall in love with 8turn, The CrewOne (they're sooo fun omg) and Younite, other groups i know pretty well. Eunsang/leader of Younite is insane. he's literally insane, keep an eye on him. each round i've been more and more impressed by him. looking forward to your reaction to Younite performance in next episode 😌 also Eunsang, Minhee (the blonde one) and Hyeongjun from Cravity were on the same group together X1 (show ProduceX101). Wonjin and Kungmo (both from Cravity too) also been there. 2:10:32 "i like this guy, Kyungmin guy. why is he look familiar?" oh PD, Kyungmin was on I-Land. Lim Jimin from The CrewOne/Just B also was on I-Land. (Geonu too, but you already know this). btw loove to see Geonu as leader, he's really good leader and you will see that as show progresses. also some people that knew each other before the show starts: Seoho, Keonhee, Hwanwoong (ONEUS) and LEW (Tempest) were together on Produce101 S2 Seoho and Jaeyun (8turn) were on MIXNINE Kyungmun (Younite) and TheNewSix members were on LOUD (you also know this)

Sofia

also, the thing that they did to Cravity was horrible. it's still makes me so mad despite the even though the show is already ended. thank god it's not the case in next episodes. but still, it's trauma for the group and for Hyeongjun, poor baby...

krista li

Kyungmin (8turn) was also an I-Land contestant that's why he looks so familiar. He was allegedly supposed to debut with &team but ended up with 8turn

canhui00

So glad you're watching RTK! I finished watching the show yesterday and am largely satisfied! 8TURN's performance definitely won me over this ep, and I bought tix to see them in NYC right after this aired. Also, Kyungmin is from I-Land!! I was so happy when he debuted and loved him on this show~ Definitely look forward to the NO LIMIT round :)) I'll save my main critique of some of the performances later as I feel like you'll address it haha... My ranking were similar: 1) 8TURN 2) TEMPEST 3) ONEUS 4)TNX 5) The CrewOne 6) YOUNITE YOUNITE last because I knew them as a group with a refreshing concept so this performance felt weird to me. I also generally don't like concepts that use guns... TEMPEST I feel like did showcase themselves as a group though with the light/lighthouse concept and their energetic refreshing side! TNX and The Crew One were tough to rank bc I wasn't familiar with the groups so I only did those based on performance. Overall, I think it's fun to see so many former I-Landers come to the table with their respective groups! Especially cheering for Kyungmin who was my favorite participant who was mostly a Grounder!

I SO AGREE with your top ace performance rankings. It bugged me that so many of these ace performances were so dance focused and completely disregarded the fact that an ace is an ALL ROUNDER. But instead of trying to find a balance, most teams just disregard singing or rapping for the shock value of dancing and stunts. And yes that is also my issue with idol groups in general so i agree with you on that as well.

Liv

Wow MNET keeps finding new ways to be unnecessarily cruel!! :) how is anything gained or progressed by hindering a group on the first episode? You don’t think whoever will place last will already feel bad and you get your cry shots from that? It feels rude bc they especially don’t know what’s at stake, that’s a cruel amount of guilt to just put on someone let alone ONE PERSON FOR 100 SECONDS?? The stylists, the choreographers, the members and their whole team just get discredited — ik we’ve known Mnet is like this but it’s also another thing to keep trying to portray like they’ve “learned from their mistakes” from other shows and this is another level of them not caring about strain on idols cast and PURPOSEFULLY deteriorating mental health, more than negligence its premeditated they just want the shock (which is the lowest bar for show producers to depend on) and/or didn’t have the money/time for another performance in ep 1 and wanted to cheat their way out — ik Cravity has Hyeongjuns back but I can’t imagine the (unjustified) guilt: MNET is asking for a mental breakdown for views it’s shallow and exploitative

Lilac Kaur

Hi! Just a correction here, the jimin that you mentioned was on i-land was actually Chu Jimin (he has since changed his name to Chu Siwoo), he isn't present in this show. just b has two jimins (chu jimin is on hiatus and lim jimin is the ace in this episode) so it is a bit confusing. BUT omg i also fell in love with 8TURN, YOUNITE and The CrewOne as the show progressed (TCO especially) so i'm a bit sad the show is over

RoseStar

EUNHWI and his Magic hands. THE NEW SIX’s performance was my favorite. I love their Group Performance was centered around their ACE Junhyeok and connects to Junhyeok’s ACE performance. I love how THE NEW SIX’s incorporated their symbol and INDENTITY the Butterfly with the string making Junhyeok their Butterfly and at the beginning where EUNHWI uses magic to make cute Butterfly appear in the small glass box and sends the Butterfly towards the Center to his members. I love love the NEW SIX’s performance so so much.

Icedtea

What I find interesting is that people didn’t criticize the purely dance focused performances in the first season, the top four groups The Boyz, Golden Child, Verivery, and Pentagon also focused solely on dance with no singing. However, in this season I’ve noticed a lot of people attacking and criticizing The CrewOne for choosing to dance without singing in the intro round. I don’t see anything wrong with it, especially since it’s just a 100-second performance, and there wasn’t a specific rule about including singing. So I don’t understand why people are upset this season when they praised The Boyz for their sword performance in the previous season

Rachael Tie

Junhyeok and Hwi worked on his Ace performance together to get the arrangement and such done. They have a series on YouTube behind each stage. I’d recommend watching it once road to kingdom ends :)

Neeko

I'm obsessed with Hyeongjun. He just has such nice boy energy which I love lol.

Chouille

Woodz was also in it pd :D Yohan from WEi as well (he was the center/n°1)

Mariah

Starship posted in depth vlogs of all of Cravity’s performance preparations and they’re so interesting. It’s wild to see how much preparation goes into 100 second performances. You can literally watch as the bruises form on their bodies as they practice.

Mariah

I hope you watch Cravity’s Veni Vidi Vici performance for this round on youtube! it was my favorite from the first round and such a shame that the other teams didn’t get to see it. The concept ties in to Hyeonjun’s solo seamlessly.

Alison Renaud

Im so excited to watch this again but with you! I was in it for Oneus! I loved learning about these other groups and now im a fan of 8turn! Oneus had some of the best performances I've ever seen! I'm so proud of them no matter what happens! Could I please have the link for the full episodes with English subs? I'm asking for a friend.

izzy

thats because it was an ACE performance and the ace is supposed to be the allrounder

izzy

same my ranking was also 1. thenewsix and 7. oneus for the ace performance

Icedtea

I wasn’t talking about the ace performance I was talking about the group performance the 100 seconds intro performance the crewone received a lot of hate because they didn’t sing

Ebony Coco

I wish for the ACE rankings that they had them rank each ACE from 1 to 7 and give them points per rank, because with the pick 3 method, someone could be 4th or 5th for most of them, thus not being picked as much, and then end up placing last, which is what I think may have happened to Hyeungjun from Cravity. Meanwhile, someone who has a more controversial performance (ie. people either love it or hate it) could rank higher even if more people would have ranked their performance as 6th or 7th.

Ebony Coco

I think the difference between The CrewOne and The Boyz, for example is that The Boyz actually does intricate dance performances that utilize their high number of members. Verivery, too, is VERY known for their dancing, specifically their synchronized dancing. They're known for that even with people who never listen to them or can't name a single member. I can't speak for Golden Child or Pentagon because I don't really know either group beyond what they did on RTK, but I do know both groups in The CrewOne, and that performance wasn't a good representation of either of their styles, and even if we argue they're a new group with a distinct identity from their individual groups' ones, them as a full group very much gave The Boyz. If we didn't see the The Boyz do this stuff, and better, already, I think the response to them would have been very different. It also doesn't help they're under the same company as The Boyz, because they clearly tried to copy what worked for them, when The CrewOne is a different group made up of members with different strengths to The Boyz that they could have highlighted instead. Just dancing and not singing when you have some of the strongest vocalists in this entire show at your disposal is crazy. It's like how Oneus' performance works because that's actually a representation of who they are. Being Theater Kids and Concept Kings is their identity. Another group, like Younite, doing a theatrical/conceptual performance for this round, particularly a dark one, doesn't work as well because that's not a good representation of them as a group.

Ebony Coco

I fully agree with you about The New Six and Psy. It's a problem I've had with them as well, where Psy, or someone else, refuses to just let them be and let Hwi take over their sound, so it becomes this back and forth that I think is negatively impacting them because it's like they're having a crisis of identity, or rather a fight for identity, between themselves and their company that feels like it's being played out publicly through their music. Oneus dealt with similarly where RBW wanted them to go in one direction, hence them releasing No Ditty and Bring It On, while they wanted to go in another. Even Luna wasn't originally supposed to be a title track, just another song for their ONEUS THEATRE project, but the members themselves created a whole presentation, with styling concepts, choreo ideas, and all, to convince RBW to make it a title track, and the compromise for releasing it was adding that harder-hitting dance break in the middle because RMW was obsessed with wanting them to have a harder sound to imitate other more popular 4th gen groups. Oneus has always had more control that many groups, but they were always heavily micromanaged, often having to change their lyrics, especially Leedo. Now, they have more control than ever before, with Hwanwoong even being their performance director for some of their recent releases, and even them participating on this show was Keonhee's doing. (He called the producer(?) and convinced the other members to do it. I just wish these companies that have idols that are, imo geniuses at their craft, would stop either not utilizing them at all or micromanaging them to the point their ideas become adulterated into something else. Cube getting out of Soyeon's way, for example, was the best thing to happen to Gidle, and even they dragged their feet with it. I just think some of these companies/CEOs have egos that get in the way of their own groups' (and thus their own, too) success.

In the first episode, The Boyz performed “Sword of Victory,” which was completely different from their usual group style and didn’t represent their group identity. Similarly, Golden Child did a strong, pure dance routine that also didn’t align with their typical image. Pentagon might have been the only group to choose one of their hit songs, but they still didn’t sing much and instead included more acting than dancing. Despite this, all these groups ranked highly, and no one discussed whether they truly represented their group identity or why they didn’t even sing in the first place. Meanwhile, TOO and ONF did sing and showcased their unique group identities, yet they ranked very low. Back then, no one seemed to question the rankings or care about the singing, and people were generally satisfied. However, in this season, there’s a lot of talk about the importance of singing. My question is, why is it suddenly a big issue now when it wasn’t before? The other groups, including The Boyz, Golden Child, and Pentagon, all have strong and talented vocalists, yet they didn’t emphasize this in their first performances either they focused on dance, just like The CrewOne. Despite The CrewOne singing in later rounds, they received a lot of hate and were labeled as a “dance team,” as if that were an insult. No one seems to be listening to their live singing after the first performance

Saida Sainova

I feel like i was raised by you ahahahha, we have the same reactions. Thank you PD

Taylor

so excited to finally watch this, I adore 8turn so I can't wait to see how they do!

I’ve been a fan of Hyeongjun since he & a lot of of the other Cravity members were on Produce X 101. I actually think a lot of people forget that he ranked third in the show, and him & Minhee debuted in X1. Imo, I think he is truly an ace, but shines the best when he does more bubbly & fun concepts. (Like what he showcased on Produce) Obviously, that kind of style isn’t really “respected“ as much as a more serious and hard hitting choreo. But I think his charm really shines through in other ways.
