Yeah PD. I also watched ILAND 2 after IZNA's debut. The feelings were so strange. Like I already know who is debuting, so I was like "Heh, I won't get emotional since I already got spoiled by the real world". I was wrong as hell. As the episodes go by, you can tell Fuko did A LOT. And suddenly you become attached to her. And the thing is, although you are attached to her personality, you know her fate that she wasn't going to debut. So every episode, if there is a scene of Fuko saying "I am going to make it" or "I can do this", it aches my heart a lot. When I saw her cry, it feels so bad man huhuhu

When Jiyoon was a TheBlackLabel trainee right before joining I-LAND 2, Producer 24 actually recommended her to go on the show since they needed more people on there! She's known him for a long time since she was an ex-TBL trainee herself (and the only one on the show)

regarding jungeun, she was massively underscored/done dirty by both the producers and imates live votes in part 2 so a lot of viewers (including me lol) banded together to always vote her (whether you were choosing top 3, top 6, or top 1 we always voted jungeun) so that she had a fighting chance to debut considering it seemed like she was getting a bad edit in part 2 in preparation for her not to debut. part of why we felt like this was done purposefully too wslas because korean viewers hated her because she wasn't 'pretty' enough so we thought she was being sabotaged to not end up in the group

this is just a fun tmi, but park hanbin from evnne was watching the finale live and during the 5 minutes of saebi not debuting, he sent messages about her basically saying how saebi was a wakeone trainee for a long time before hanbin joined the company and how he wished it would’ve gone well for her bc she’s more than prepared to debut. he said she would be able to come back with a better image bc he was like that too (debuting after the finale of the survival show you didn’t win). but then she ended up debuting anyways and he was so relieved.

Koko and Mai's full names are Narai Koko and Tomioka Mai, by the way Koko was raised in Osaka, and Mai was raised in Yokohama!

“Feels bad man” is the accurate description. Yeah, I felt myself slowly withering away throughout this show watching Fuko. I felt like the meme of the dog but his place is on fire and he’s like “this is fine”. But the finale broke me T_T

Seeing Fuko have an emotional breakdown live on tv (and that damned camera never letting her get a moment of composure) broke me. My top 3 girls have always been Mai, Saebi, and Fuko and while I adore izna's lineup, my heart broke to pieces for Fuko. Ever since the finale, she's been rumored for every upcoming girl group out there, but there's been no sight of her. And I'm afraid the longer the silence goes without any updates, the more I despair that her efforts, her YEARS, in Korea have been in vain. 💔

Hmm… I wonder if she had any chance to debut with MEOVV, because to be honest… I don’t think she fits the vision of MEOVV. Maybe… maybe I could imagine her being there instead of Anna. The reason is I cannot imagine any other member being replaced and although replacing Anna would make the group different in some way, it could work for Jiyoon that although she would not fit 100% the vibe of the group, it would make her stand out in a good way to let her get her own spotlight.

Not just for that reason. During the first test of part 2, or even before it, her sister's identity was known by the netizen, who was a contestant of My Teenage Girl and was also involved in a bully allegation. I think that hate train was bigger (fyi, I only follow izna starting from Sign era, so this is what I read from Korean comments).

I agree. Anna has what Ji-yoon doesn't, and what Ji-yoon has can be provided by Ga-won and Na-rin, or even Soo-in or Ella.

Fun fact to alleviate your lingering emotion: When izna was preparing for their debut, Koko had to take Japanese classes, with Mai, because they kept forgetting Japanese and caught Momo's syndrome lol.

To be honest I kinda glad that the camera was on her for a bit. It's as if they are telling us that it's our fault to make her cry like that. Or like "I hope you will support her even more so she won't cry like this anymore" y'know what I mean. I know the camera man's intention wasn't like that. It's not that deep. But that's how I cope HAHA

In my opinion, she probably didn't make the cut due to some reason (like you said fitting the vision and I agree), or they had other plans for her (for example, I-LAND because MEOVV debut preparations were happening at the same time as I-LAND), so they allocated her elsewhere instead of MEOVV but it's a high possibility that she trained with the MEOVV girls and probably some of ALLDAY Project too. But alas, IZNA suits her very well :)

You know why Mai was picked as the 6th official member instead of an extra 7th? Because she would have been POURED with criticisms if that had been the case. No matter how much her mentality, personality, mindset shone throughout the show, her skills, both vocal-wise and dance-wise, have always been questioned by viewers, even until these days. People's first impression of her has always been about her visual. So, if she was picked as an extra, her validity would be criticized, as harshly as you can imagine. Therefore, this was a smart move by the producers to alleviate her burden later on. In this way, Sae-bi's supporters wouldn't feel beaten up, Mai's position would as well get less questioned since it's officially picked by producers. Another information, the final line-up was the top 7 of the show, with just Mai's and Sae-bi's positions were switched with the other. Thus, they were better accepted by the public than that of ILLIT in the first place, as Jee-min was originally top 4 in R U NEXT? but wasn't chosen.

As a Saebi one-pick, I'm so glad that Mai made the group! I agree that Mai had to be picked 6th because if she was added in 7th by Taeyang, the haters would have had a field day with the favoritism comments. And I think it's more justifiable if they wanted both Mai and Saebi in the group to put Saebi against Fuko instead of Mai. But watching this live, not seeing Saebi make it crushed me LOL

Fuko wasn't in my top 3 but she was always someone that I enjoyed watching. She just exudes a warmth that I've always radiated towards and although Saebi was my top pick throughout the entire show, my heart would have been okay if Fuko had made it over Saebi because I know she would have done so well. Looking forward to her growth and hopeful debut!

And about LeeJung.... this is like 2 years ago, maybe more? So, it's been a while since this show but she was in "Hye-Mi-Lee-Ye-Chae-Pa" variety show, very funny, I recommend it so much if you ever watch it. Honestly this was probably the most fair voting for first place. If the criteria for final placement was based purely on skill and consistency throughout the entire season episode by episode without any flaws. She deserves first place above anyone else. Obviously personality wise, other members sticks out and their specific niches, but Jungeun is THE all rounder where I can't nitpick at all
