I wonder if this has any connection to the her ex machina mv where she’s some sort of robot

Yes I really liked the double meaning with the Nail part in the chorus. And yeah Yves confirmed that that was what it meant! Something cool also is that her new logo looks very similar to the Arabic word for “nail” (just spelled a bit incorrectly so that it says “Yves”. But that’s definitely what they were going for). For me personally this is my favorite Yves title track and mini album too. I think my favorite Yves song in general is still Ex Machina from her previous album, but this entire mini album is my favorite. I feel like Yves further involvement in this album is what’s made it shine more for me. She said that she presented to concept and symbol and theme to the company. And she even finally wrote lyrics for most of the songs on the album. I feel like this album has the strongest “yves print” to it and feels like her most cohesive work so far. I do think she is creeping more and more into the broader global industry outside of only the kpop one. Ive really loved all of the collaborations she’s done with international artists over the last few albums. It makes me crave for her to work with even more international artists now too. I really want to get tickets for her u.s tour too. I was supposed to go last time but got sick and wasn’t able to make it. But now the tickets are sooo expensive so I’m debating lol

This is my favorite yves mv. I really liked the Ex Machina mv too. But this one is just really so well done. It really makes you want to watch it many times over.

Liv

So jealous you’re going to the Yves concert 🤧 scream and party for the rest us PD

Can we get a kill count for how many men Yves has ended 😂

To your point about Yves being pushed global and less kpop, I think that is further emphasized by the fact she released this album while on tour in lieu of typical korean promotions. I think that is also due to the nature of the song and lack of typical performance features, but its clear they have a vision and clear trajectory for her. I really wish I could see her live.

I just got so excited at the prospect of PD doing a reaction to Ex Machina MV but there doesn't seem to be one :(

I agree with you, I listened to this album yesterday, and I immediately thought "this is not k-pop". While k-pop is also kinda itself characterized by the genre-bending, the tracks lean so much into their respective genres, it didn't feel right to call them k-pop for me. But not that it matters that much, like other releases by Yves before, this will reach it's audience, regardless of if it's branded as k-pop or not. And tbh if a k-pop fan listens to this and starts broadening their musical horizon b/c of it, then that's also not a bad thing. 🤭 Anyway, the whole EP is a massive hit, the standouts for me are definitely 'HALO' and 'Break It' with MOTHERFXXXING LEXIE LIU! EP of the year for me. (I'd say album of the year, but then there's Irene, so...) By coincidence I'll actually be in Paris next week when she's also performing there, but I already have other plans, so I will be missing her this tour. 😌 PS: there's also a new track and mv by Young Posse, which is well worth checking out!

I would loveee to see that
