I hope you react to ILLIT's It's Me, it has the same vibe to this.

Sascha

My favourite MV of the year so far hands down. The beat is crazy addictive too!

I personally don’t rlly agree, lesserafim have been doing edm since the beginning of their career so I don’t rlly see it that way. Just seems to be the concept they’re leaning into with their music the past few titles, but they’ve always had edm on albums.

Literally word for word, this is what I feel. I love EDM so much, so fortunately I'm having so much fun with these releases, buttttt everyone doing it feels very wishy-washy. Everyone isn't doing it for the love of it, it's just because it's popular and they're riding the trend, and everything just feels the same in the industry right now. HYBE needs to give these girls some individuality between groups because all of them releasing EDM songs at the same time just makes comparisons more common. I am still jamming the songs cause they're fun and I love me some EDM, but yeah, I completely agree with you.

camila

You're so real about wanting the song to be longer, LOL. A lot of people had the same complaint (the ones who liked it) that the song was too short!!! EDM songs are way longer than that, so it was weird, but of course, they had to do the whole short song trend, ugh. So many people made the hardstyle part in the middle longer on tiktok and youtube, you can probably find it. I'm not sure if anyone's uploaded it on Apple Music or Spotify yet, BUT they made a remix with Sara Landry !!! It's so good, they have a visualizer on YouTube if you'd wanna check it out! It's significantly longer and obviously way harder techno than the original lol it's great! Hope you get to listen to it, whether on Patreon or not!

Like Pd said, EDM is broad genre...i dont even see Celebrations and Its Me on the same side of the spectrum...I have multiple rock bands Im a fan of, I dont have this kinda of reaction when they release a song too close to each other...just means I have more to enjoy. Guess Im saying I take the glass-half-full approach.

Jessy

You should definitely check out the CELEBRATION (Sara Landry Remix)!

JJ

to me personally (as someone who used to be into EDM like 10-15ish years ago? but note that this is obviously subjective and I am always biased when it comes to the fimmies on top of that), this is EDM done right it's hyped AF but still meaningful and kind of emotional my only complaint - as for many of us - is that is too goddamn short

Form of Therapy

I’m with Artist. Now—I haven’t heard Pinky Up so I can’t compare but Celebration & It’s Me sound nothing alike. The term “EDM” is indeed super super broad. I actually thought Celebration was distinctly made in LE SSERA’s voice, and ILLIT’s retains their weird fantasy like quirky nature. It’s just a fad and it will come and go like ANY fad in K-Pop.

JJ

highly recommend checking out their 'PUREFLOW' pt.1 - We walkin’ here trailer by the way! but warning you that their other more recent "Just BOOMPALA" trailer thingy seems to contain a title track spoiler

I feel like Camilla worded what i wanted to say a little bit better - feeling wise. i have SOOOO much to say about it but just cannot organise my thoughts right now. Once i organise my thoughts i'll come and comment a bit more in depth what i mean and where my disappointment with HYBE (not the groups themselves) stems from for this EDM era they're doing rn. But right now it genuinely is just frustration at how BIG EDM as a genre is and with so many possibilities. THIS is all HYBE could come with? It just feels safe and very much ''you can copy my homework but change the answers a little'' . I get not everyone will agree with me. So many routes and options and art out there and they chose the most basic versions for all 3...

Sascha

Trends have always been a thing in kpop though. We had the 80s synth retro era, the rock era, the y2k era and now the EDM/techno era. I don't really see any problem with it, especially since the songs mentioned don't sound the same to me. Same genre doesn't necessarily mean same sound.

Milagros

I want to like this so bad, but I can't idk T.T it's like devoid of something, but I don't know what

To me the issue is more on three HYBE GGs releasing these in the timeline that they did. It's both good and bad promo I guess. I think it defeats the whole 'individuality' of their labels that they were preaching about when Hybe was first re-organized. The three songs aren't necessarily bad (esp because I am someone who enjoys everything LOL) and I also believe they are not that similar to each other BUT I do get why it's perceived that way. It's the premise of the multi-label system approach that's making it seem odd IMO. Despite being from different labels under Hybe, they aren't really perceived that way. They are simply HYBE GGs to many and that's probably why people are iffy with them all having quirky releases at the same time. Trends have always been a thing in K-pop, different groups release similar styles at the same time. But for these 3 groups, it's not just the timing of release but the fact that they are all under one umbrella company (because Hybe doesn't really do a great job at emphasizing the 'individuality' of labels despite emphasizing it before - they themselves promote the 'Hybe' branding a lot now). It also does not help that many have been specifically frustrated at the overall direction of Katseye's music recently, so the lukewarm reactions are not surprising. The choreographies are another conversation though. I think Katseye are such good performers that they can sell any choreography. Illit's is fine and definitely less overwhelming. Though I am personally not a fan of Celebration's choreography - is it just me..? The version they use for challenges look awkward too.

Form of Therapy

10-15… if timeline serves me right were you a skrillex/zedd girlie?

Rihyusi

yOuY NEED TO SEE PERFORMANCES !

JJ

listened to them, also some avicii, david guetta, diplo, swedish house mafia, dillon francis, chainsmokers, deadmau5 (really all of these artists and the genre in general was inescapable as a European teenager), but I also just listened to a lot of remixes from smaller artists that I (unfortunately) don't even remember the names of

Demi

I honestly wish they would make an extended version of this song 😭

SugaKooky

I love this song! This is how you can do quirky without being ridiculous.

Minnie

You are giving Charli way too much credit here. EDM/Rave and its subgenres have been mainstream for decades now, it is true that there's some similarity with the recent Hybe GG releases but it's all a bit different. Could it have been done better and not all released so close to each other? Yes. But Kpop/Hybe chasing BRAT's success and sound to milk money out of it? I don't think so.

jessie

It does get repetitive after listening a lot but the vocals just keep me coming back, Kazuha in the first verse is absolute heaven!
