*taps mic again* so.. yeah. lengthy comment from someone who went to attend all three days of encore in seoul. the weeks leading up to encore were already heavy (honestly since the first ever yuehua announcement in january) and so flying to seoul and getting ready for that weekend was also very heavy and emotional. it was the first time i was flying to seoul without feeling enthusiastic because i knew i was going there cry my heart out LOL .. all 3 days had the same setlist, same everything. yet as soon as i got on my seat on the last day, i felt the shift. the mood was really different, solemn, eerie even. like everyone around you was just sensitive and one tap away from crying. when the opening vcr played i felt very silly as i was already tearing up, so i looked left and right, and turns out everyone was already holding tissues LOL. the boys were all crying during 난빛나. the audience were already crying during 난빛나. i said this before, but it genuinely felt like i was in a funeral hall. i kid you not every single person was crying the WHOLE SHOW. full on crying, wailing even. it was that heavy.. and oh my dearest haobin. every single duo who got separated causes me pain but oh god the realization that hanbin and hao would be separated was another level. looking back at their early debut content, they would always talk about how happy they were to be debuting with each other and how they wanted to be in the same team for a long time. UGH. i will stop talking about their separation here now because it is really too painful to think about. (everyone, please be at least comforted that being in separate groups /having different schedules have not stopped them from their cute hangouts haha iykyk) anyways.. when i think about the journey from december to now.. a lot of my opinions, feelings, have changed. at some point, i was 9 or nothing. at some point, i was just frustrated and mad with the impending doom. honestly, i was probably frustrated because unlike iz*one, who had less chances of becoming a permanent group, the probability of zerobaseone becoming a 'permanent' group as 9 was *almost* there. just one company away from it. regardless, right now, i'm just Relieved. still sad, still thinking of the what could have beens.. but relieved. at least both halves of the group have each other. no one is truly left alone and that brings a lot of comfort, especially with how turned-soloists talk about how difficult it was to adjust from being in a big group to having no one. to be completely honest, i still feel the frustration from time to time. wakeone had a restructuring recently with a new CEO, new divisions, new staff. most of zerobaseone's staff got replaced. there's been a bunch of minor changes that are clearly a result of the members renegotiating too. with every new, 'better' thing that comes out nowadays, i feel the frustration, the what could have beens. yet what is done is done, so it's really just a matter of adjusting and making do with what we have. when and2ble's lineup was announced to have been finalized (hao, ricky, gyuvin, yujin, seungeon), there were divided opinions, and honestly, i get BOTH. happy because it's just the five of them, also confused because it's just the five of them. i truly symphatize with both sides of the conversation. well now evnne, zb1, and2ble all have 5 members, and the most unfortunate is yunseo, who got pulled out of evnne, only for yuehua to terminate his contract a month later. he is now independent. i feel gutted for him. i personally have not been able to listen to any zerobaseone song properly since encore, so this comeback is going to be some sort of a 'comeback' to me too LOL.. i heard the sampler and i am excited for it. also really looking forward to and2ble's debut. it's going to be a journey, with both groups technically having to 'restart' because whether we admit it or not - splitting the group in half is bound to make both lose some of its core fanbase. yes the majority is still supporting both, but it's just the inevitable - their popularity as 9 will be quite hard to top. i am rooting for them and hopefully they prove me wrong though. please check out zerobaseone content PD! 1N2D, ZBTVING s2, and they also released Re-pilogue as a short final variety/reality content last january/february. to commemorate hanbin/hao you may also want to consider their Salon Drip episode! after this depressing watch of an encore i believe we should get into zerobaseone fun content for #therapy. oh and they had their first stage as 5 ever last week at kcon japan. they covered shinee. yes. they did. i'm sorry for this lengthy comment. honestly, there's still so much more i want to say, but this length is embarrassing enough. i think i just love and care about all of them so much. i also really feeeeel a lot with pd because i watched boys planet with you. here's to a new chapter for zb2ble <3

Amanda

I watched this when it actually aired and I was crying so hard I couldn't breathe! I don't know if I have the strength to rewatch the ments at the end :( I know not all groups are super close but as a longtime kpop fan who is pretty jaded, I GENUINELY think these boys are like family to each other after what they went through and you can see it here.

PHYSICALLY HURTS

k !

honestly i joined the patreon because i saw you mention gunwook on a youtube community post and i was like. what does pd know about gunwook. and then i realized u might be as committed to him as i am. so then i joined! yay! the utter pit in my stomach going from ranks 8 to 6 on finale night turning into sheer joy and relief when gunwook was called as 5th…oh i wish i could lose my memory and experience it again. no other group has mobilized me in the way they have. zb1 caught me at the right moment of adulthood, right at the age time where everything is new and uncertain, but you still know you’re blooming. i’m the same age as hao, so it felt like i was growing right beside him. gunwook and hao sit high on my list of idols i care way too much about, right there with jimin and jake. it’s kind of ridiculous how much i gaf. i think it takes incredible strength of the trainees to even join boys planet. you go in knowing exactly what you’re getting, a 2.5 year drawn out goodbye. it takes incredible strength of the fans too, we know it just as much as they do. the thing that takes the most strength is to pour every ounce of your heart into it despite it. despite knowing we’ll all crash and burn at this final concert. despite knowing things will have to be torn apart and rebuilt again. there’s not a single member or a single fan who didn’t give their all to this group. whether you think it makes the bittersweet feeling more bitter or more sweet is debatable. the way gunwook and hao were absolutely weeping at the end…it feels extremely bitter sometimes. gunwook could barely bring himself the open the door and hao wasn’t even the one to close it. at the time it felt like an extremely cruel joke. and if u think the crying u saw on the stream cams were bad…oh the fancams….times it by 10 and whatever you’re thinking, it’s still worse than that. so many non-zerose saw clips of them and said they’ve never seen idols cry this hard at their concert. lmao. what i do know is the nine of them are destined for bigger things. it’s a shame that it couldn’t have been together, but from what we’ve seen from zb1 and and2ble so far, i can see that the grass can be green and the sun is still warm on this side too.

Amanda

the fancams were BRUTAL because the way the camera zooms in on different members, it was only in the fancams that you can see how other members are reacting during their speeches. like you can't see it as much from the way the camera zooms in but hanbin could barely get through his speech without hao's support. i heard a rumor from some staff and people in attendance that after the door shut behind hao, hanbin was waiting for him and they hugged and cried instead of walking immediately backstage. that made me feel better somehow because the end felt so cruel :(

Elena Yordanova

Wow thank you so much for these encore insights. I am also with you with everything you said, AND YES Re-epiloge was such a fun content it would be lovely to watch it together here.

Koo's Flower

As an armyrose I kept thinking about what you said about bts being the best at setting themselves apart from kpop and zb1 being the blueprint of a kpop group, from the way they were put together to the way the kpop industry just forced them apart, not like artists but as products, but still thrive and being the perfect and the standard for a kpop group. For me hanbin is the perfect definition of a kpop idol and gunwook is the true kpop all rounder. I'm heart broken to not be able to see my nine together for a while but I still think this was the best outcome we could've had. Every one of them still being idols and making music, five of them keeping the name zerobaseone and continuing the legacy not letting the team name be forgotten with time, gunwook shining as a producer for the group in the new album, jiwoong doing music and not only acting, ricky out of the wk1 mistreatment, him hao and gyuvin composing lyrics for the and2ble album, the 4 that left being still together, only two teams to stan, only having seungeon added that is not a new face for anyone who has watched boysplanet, no minors added, yujin redebuting as an adult now. Since zerobaseone will keep on going I'm sure we'll have a reunion, until then I will support zb2ble and I can't wait to see what new heights they can reach. I'll love you forever my nine

I'm sorry, this is super long but i feel super emotional right now so rant incoming: I have avoided watching this concert by myself all this time. I knew i wouldn't be able to handle it without someone close to share my pain with. You are the first reactor i follow who did react to the encore, so this was my first time seeing it in full and not just through fancams on twt. So thank you from the depths of my heart for giving us this chance to share this experience with someone who feels just as strongly about these nine guys. I appreciate what you do, genuinely. So the concert? what can i say? It was beautiful, heartfelt, honest and devastating. I cried from the first song to your last word, my head hurts, my heart hurts, my soul hurts. It's been two months, i thought i didn't have any tears left to cry anymore after march 15th. Boy was i wrong. Time heals all wounds they say. After two years of wishing we could make time stop i now can't wait for it to move faster and take the pain. Mine, the fans' and espescially the boys' pain, who are so strong and so brave for continuing. March 15th was a terrible day. I feel almost embarrassed saying this, admitting to how deeply i care about ot9. But they found me in a very dark place in my life. Following their journey through boys planet, being with them since predebut and learning more about them, their passion, strength and their relationship with each other has changed me. They tought me hope, showed me that there is no merit to being ashamed of being myself and liking what i like. They accompanied me through so many changes in my life, were my safe space during times i couldn't find joy and peace in the real world, when friendships discouraged me and family members died and i questioned my life choices. I, and so many others, have lost a safe space but gained two new ones in the process. So no matter how painful following them in their seperate journey is and will continue to be, i will still proudly do so and not be ashamed of it. Because hanbin tought me honesty, hao passion, gyuvin love, jiwoong endurance, ricky confidence, matthew being true to myself, yujin relishing in youthfulness, taerae joy for what i love doing and gunwook joy. Thank you ot9 zerobaseone, we will see you again. Maybe not today or tomorrow. But one day, and that fact alone makes life a little bit more bearable. Until then, i and many others will support you and try to give back what you have gifted us. Lastly: please don't feel pressured to react to ot9 variety content. But if you do, that would be an amazing opportunity for some healing group therapy lol

Amanda

totally agree with what you said about your rollercoaster feelings since december! honestly I was so depressed for a long time, and kind of angry too (at the companies, not the boys!) the first time i took any kind of breath was when and2ble released their first video showing how they formed, chose the leader, etc. - seeing that they had been working the whole time and were STILL that sad in march was horrible, but at the same time, it reminded me they all had each other. and then slowly seeing zb1 with ot5 gearing up for their comeback was healing too - the live on the top of the mountain, all the work going into their comeback, the impromptu lives - it makes me angry but happy at the same time! because wakeone is treating them better in the last month than they treated the group for 2.5 years. and their kcon appearance was also kind of healing - and i think i just need that first performance for and2ble too to fully accept it. i'm a little nervous about restrictions on group interactions but we'll see how it plays out on music shows, the megacon they're both at, etc. i don't doubt for a mintue they are still close off camera but the idea of them having to censor themselves on camera is rough. i hope i'm wrong!

The only thing WK1 has always consistently gotten right, imo, is ZB1's VCRs. They are always so entertaining to the point that I sometimes watch them by themselves

i have a lot of thoughts about this concert, too many to really conceptualize, but i will say that leaving hao alone on stage, sobbing and breaking down, and then shutting the door on him was unnecessarily cruel. it was grueling to have that be the last we saw of him for so long. the members plus chats (like bubbl) expired the same night as the concert so we weren’t even able to hear from them or make sure they were okay. it was an incredibly difficult time for me and for every other zerose i’m sure. there is a lot that is changing. there is a lot of growth. zb1’s situation has improved a lot since their contract negotiations. they are allowed to do much more group content, including group and duo lives and such. they have more creative freedom. wakeone is treating them far better than they have in the past. yuehua, too, is treating and2ble far better so far than the treatment they received under wakeone (especially ricky, who was in such a terrible situation under wakeone). both groups have members with writing credits on their upcoming albums. both groups seem to have a lot more freedom and say in their own creative directions. it is very exciting. at the same time, though, it’s quite bittersweet, wondering why we couldn’t have gotten proper treatment like this when they were all together. why it was so impossible to treat all the members well. why wakeone only improves now that certain members are out of the picture. still, things are looking up for all of them and i hope everyone tunes into everything they do in the future. it’s hard, and there is a lot of adjusting to do, and i often find myself mourning zb1 as its whole, as 9 members. they were so close to getting to stay together. we came SO close to what the members and fans wanted. unfortunately, life obviously took us in separate paths, and that is always something that i will grieve, but i am eternally grateful to have gotten the opportunity to spend my youth with zerobaseone. they meant and always will mean the world to me. i hope, even as their story as nine inevitably fades, as time passes and people move on, that their history won’t be forgotten. they really were something special :,)

jjenniyyahh

icb i did this to myself again...

zinanzialisa

Fist time subscribe this channel just to watch the encore stage with you for emotional support bc I can't bear to watch it alone until now😭 And I'm a mess

WiseSmellyLegs

So this is the Zebe1 group people have been talking about. Hmm!

WiseSmellyLegs

I am surprised you don’t consider “pure Kpop/Kpop at its core” Seventeen. Or maybe you do, but you mentioned only Zebe1 and Izone as the best groups in it, which surprised me

cy

i cried more watching this together with you compared to watching it live 2 months ago and tbh i think i was just in such a state of shock and denial at that point in time </3 hanbin's speech was so heartbreaking and that ending shot of hao just sobbing as the door closed ON him hurts so bad. the setlist was great and their team put a lot of thought into the production of this concert. i'm lowkey still upset i didn't get to see doctor doctor live but i'm glad i was able to see the nine of them in concert once in this lifetime. from what they have put out so far, it really feels like the 5 remaining members of zb5 are going into this upcoming comeback reinvigorated and although the album has not come out yet, the track spoilers sound really promising!!! it's so rare that a song is already stuck in my head with only a 20s clip but gosh I can't wait to check out their upcoming EP tomorrow!! as for a2b, they're debuting next monday. as shitty as yuehua management has been for their other groups (i still mourn what everglow could have been), i have hope that they will at least not waste the amount of talent and popularity the other 4 members + seungeon have. one silver lining about all this is that at least they didn't shatter into pieces like izone did... i'd be grieving this group a lot more if the other 5 members had to split up as well ;-;

Form of Therapy

I consider pure K-Pop to also be COLORLESS. Lack of DISTINCT musical identity and made up purely of only member’s vocal identity. The members build the songs, the songs are not built around the members. SEVENTEEN is definitely amongst groups like BTS, SKZ, & ATEEZ that differentiate themselves from K-Pop. But whereas those groups differentiate themselves SONICALLY, by sounding different on the listening and surface level, SVT separates themselves on a MUSICAL level and how the songs are produced around the members (SKZ also falling into this category). In pure K-Pop sound, it’s a lot of trend riding or trend creating. It should feel colorless in its musicality, only made special by the members actual voices. For example—almost ALL of ZB1 and IZ*ONE’s discography on a base level can be sung by a lot of other groups and you wouldn’t bat an eye. For ZB1, new kidz on the block, sweat, good so bad immediately come to mind. But the members bring their own charm and make it theirs. It’s ironically the exact problem ALPHA DRIVE ONE has. It’s TOO colorless that their debut music stripped away all that made Leo’s vocals special. It’s a balancing act.

mssmercedes

I don't know what form of arrogance made me think I wouldn't be just as emotionally affected by watching this again as I was watching the live stream. Since some time is passed and we're literally hours away from ZB1 come back and a little over a week away from a2b debut there's of course now a lot to look forward to and be optimistic about but it will never ever be the same.

mssmercedes

I'm so relieved to hear you say that you will continue to check out the OT9 content that remains. I was hoping you might do something like that similar to Izone and truly I've watched some of the things since and there's just a lot of joy in it for me still. The chemistry they hold is fantastic and I think it's a big part of what made there 'Vanilla' so tasty. Their personalities are vibrant.

JJ

you posting your top 5 reaction reminded me that I wanted to come back to this & comment (had to get a night of sleep after the sobfest that this concert was) it is honestly impossible to put into words how much zerobaseone has meant to me over the last couple of years and I could write a whole essay about it but I will keep it brief: they have brought me so much comfort and joy, moments of laughter (and even tears when I needed to get my emotions out), I think the closest thing I can say to what they feel like to me is saying that they give me a sense of belonging? it might be because all nine members feel like they belonged together, that this group was right for them and they were right for the group, they so clearly loved each other and loved being together & through their content and their music (which, let me be clear, both were immaculate), they were able to show that to us and made us (or at least me) feel a sense of belonging too I am so incredibly grateful that I decided to watch boys planet (it's hard to believe that I only really decided to watch for yoon min and yedam considering that sung hanbin has been the fastest idol to become an ult bias of mine ever) and that the members made zerobaseone into the incredible groups it was & while I cried many many tears over their separation, I am also excited to support all nine (+ seungeon) in their future endeavors

Charlie_T

Gunwook had always been my 1 pick since ZB1 debuted, while I wasn’t sad about the breakup in particular and I was even secretly excited about Gunwook’s potential solo career, I couldn’t stand the idea of him joining another group other than ZB1. Although I never get to the point of being an OT9, the incredible friendship these guys built together was just so precious. The last part where everyone walking out the door, especially seeing the last moment of Hao completely breaking down really got me…. At the end, I am so happy that all my top members ended up stay together but this would be the most emotional last concert ever to me ;__;

Sarah 세라

izone and zerobaseone will forever be my top groups
