Yes there is an EP for this titled "I,God" and they have 2 unit songs on there as well from Rui/Wumuti (Extancy) & Hyun/Haru (HIPS) You NEED to see the dance practice/stages for Serve, they ate down on all of them no joke. They also have performances of the unit songs & personally I am obsessed with the choreography for Extancy (you might guess why on just listening to the song but no spoilers 😅), it's a shame they couldn't preform it on more shows than they did ngl. Anyway, so glad you enjoyed Serve 😊

i need a wig

omg you reacted to this!! the live stages for serve go HARDD

Jeilatin

I was like... The girl looks like someone.... It's HAN SO HEE

Dassah

Absolutely loveddd this comeback! They're growth from Imma be is just insane like I'm so gagged every time. Everyone feels highlighted on this track so well but it also has this understated elegance that only they can pull off

Lucy.S

I love this comeback so much. I'm really looking forward to the listening party. So far, it's definitely my favorite comeback from xlov 😊 If you have time, you should definitely check out the dance practice or live performance, too. The choreography for "Serve" is so good 👌

FINALLY.

I LOVED this comeback!! The mini album was amazing too. Knowing your taste, I feel like I already know which track will be your favorite. I really suggest watching a live stage or the dance practice. They really just have such good choreo and stage presence

Wumuti guesting on Dive Studios pod said that he had pre-chosen and created the concepts for their now 4 releases and their order, bc she’s a mbti super J, and i love the attention to details and story even if it’s a bit amorphous clearly has a vision that gives it this extra punch, especially with the full circle moment back to imma be where they are the queens controlling the chessboard and defining the game by their own rules as opposed to starting as pawns ! Also Wumuti said that any/all pronouns is good to use for himself for anyone who was curious

Liv

I was so pleasantly shocked about Sohee being in this and love the inclusion of her here as a mortal in front of these different gods, I loved her acting and the OH THE LIGHTING, but knowing she’s a fan and this isn’t a cash grab (ik she literally did this as a favor and their company isn’t big enough to just wave a check in front of her) but the way she was utilized felt RIGHT for the story, and XLOV formerly the outsiders in imma be are now free to express themselves fully and with all this growth Sohees character is the outsider being welcomed into THEIR WORLD

Liv

There’s so much in this song and I think it’s very fitting with the concept of this amazing longer intro WHICH WE DONT GET ANYMORE, it’s delving you into this atmosphere and enveloping in this dreamy, DEMURE vibe, it feels also like the final evolution of XLOV title tracks and THE HARMONIES UGHHH—but this song has so many moments that BREATHE and let you take in their expression, going by their tempo, AND it leans into soft femme vogue choreo and song PROPERLY

Liv

XLOV being dedicated to actually understanding the music genres and concepts they pull from (like going back to 1&only) helps SO much, I love house and vogue inspo in kpop but I deeply deeply appreciate if groups work directly with ballroom culture (ik the group that choreographed this has vogue background and some of the dancers you will see in live performance are part of the emerging ballroom scene in Korea) and they try to understand the nuances bc it makes the product that much better; for people interested I would recommend Gravity Jacobs’ (actual ballroom dancer) breakdown of the actual vogue elements in Serve to understand how good this is and understand why it’s important to appreciate and know the culture that’s being pulled from

Ophelia

It like almost gives me Rocky Horror vibes.

Form of Therapy

It didn’t click for me that it was Sohee cus I was like they can’t afford her. But wow she must really be a fan then! MV shoots are grueling

flowerbit

yessss BUT I don’t want to say it and mess with your expectations of the song lol. But it feels like the type of good feeling pop song you tend to enjoy on albums

nadia

the musical changes in the song fit the concept in the intro/teaser, where they talk about the pawn reaching the end of its world / the end of the chessboard & then being able to change into any piece. it's both impressive and deeply touching that the sound of the song changes in such smooth, gorgeous ways - staying the same song but transitioning into different genres, so to speak. so hee arrives to the edge of her world / to their castle in tears and beat up (...and dressed in plaid... and at one point looking at lights in the colors of the lesbian pride flag, so there are hints at why she's at the end of her rope). xlov members have already reached their "final form" of changing into who they want to be, and they sort of play with her and eventually comfort and arm her with a sword, so she too can be "reborn" (and yes, they use a lot of vampiric imagery to depict the "death" of one's identity necessary for the birth of the new self, but that just makes it look extra badass). aaaaanyway, hope you react to the EP bc it's stunning!

Wumuti came up with the story for this release (as he does for all their releases), and has said the story of this release is that the XLOV members represent 4 gods. Specifically, Wumuti is the god of life and death, Rui is the god of beauty, Hyun is the god of reason, and Haru is the god of imagination. The character Sohee plays reaches the end of the world, and asks these gods to be reborn in the form she chooses. They're using the chessboard to represent this, because in chess, when a pawn reaches the end of the board, it can turn into any piece it chooses. This is actually shown in XLOV's first MV, I'mma Be, where the 4 XLOV members turn into queen pieces on the chessboard. I'mma Be is also referenced in Serve through the school uniform outfits (and Muti's finger waves) that they wore back then. The reason why Sohee seems so messed up and distraught in the MV was talked about by Muti in a fansign. He said she's been pushed past a breaking point to the point where she doesn't feel she can live anymore, which is why she's come to the end of the world (or the edge of the chessboard) to ask these gods to be reborn. As well as what Wumuti said, the director of the MV said this: "The Pawn finally reached the edge of the world. Just before being reborn into the form he desired, he encountered four gods. He asked the gods, who represented Beauty, Imagination, Reason, and Life. Who am I, the one about to fade away, and who am I, the one about to be reborn? At the moment of rebirth, his fading self looked sorrowful." The official album description (written by Hyun) also has this to say: "Even the most insignificant and weakest beings can choose whatever they desire and be reborn once they finally reach their endpoint. XLOV's 2nd EP ALBUM depicts the pain and imperfection within incomplete love that they have consistently shown since their debut. Having finally become complete from within and reached the form of 'Gods' that no one can approach anymore, they 'reincarnate' and directly guide the path of those who bear the same appearance as their past selves." It seems Sohee is also supposed to represent anyone else who's struggled the way XLOV's past selves have struggled.

You can tell Wumuti has the next one million comebacks already planned out because I feel like the concept is always incredible but the budget gets bigger every time. With some K-pop groups they're either incredible the first few times and then fall off or the other way around. But with Xlov I feel like there's a... Idk if that's the right English word but consistency? Even though every title track and EP is veryyyy different they're not jarring and I can't say if one is better than the other. I might have preferences but nothing is bad. Every single time I think God damn it won't get better than this (especially when watching live stages for the title track & B-sides) but then the next comeback happens lmao. I'm already scared of what comes next...

FroggyMuds

Pd you NEED to check out the ep and the stages for serve and their duo songs!! The live performances are so good!!
