I noticed that people that doesn't know SHINee tend to "praise" some music that my ears can't enjoy and it came to my mind many times "am I the problem? Why can't I see the thing people is so excited about?". I won't give names or groups but I'm like "I absolutely KNOW that this is not peak music" bc I'm a SHINee fan.. and even if some of their earlier releases are kinda generic (it was the time for some sounds, they were rookies, etc.) from Sherlock to ATMOS everything that SHINee released is like a curated masterpiece. I'm so excited for you to get to Married to the Music and 1 and 1 (both repackaged versions of Odd and 1 of 1 respectively) bc you're about to get HOOKED FOREVER. I really enjoy some other groups but they tend to have 3 other things: maybe they are from SM, or have strong vocalists, or they are self produced groups. Bc SHINee is all of that, I find myself being more interested in real music, not just some rhythmic noise. Thank you for your honest reaction, as always 🫂❤️

I have been waiting on the edge of my seat for your concert reactions. Literally the first thing I did upon waking up was to grab my iPad for Shinee world one and then I found this EP reaction and it totally derailed me lol. I love this ep so much, especially One Minute Back! No one is allowed to talk during any part of it when we’re driving around😂. 2013 was the year they won group of the year, and I’m sure this ep had a lot to do with it. All these songs are amazing in concert and your Shinee journey is giving me so much life.

They have won plenty more but not for AOTY. This is their acceptance speech and you'll see how much it means to them. Just prepare to cry A LOT ❤️ P. S. Interesting how you said Queen of New York sounds electronic, it always kinda reminded me of Wham's Club Tropicana 😂 (I'm old, I know) Also, One Minute Back is one of my all time top 10 SHINee songs ❤️

I would just like you to know because no one appreciates this enough, but when they do Everybody live, Onew goes up to the fifth on his high note at the end, and it's perfect every time. Can't wait for you to see the live performance. Symptoms is ultimate yearning in a song, that's all I have to say. Electronic slow jam is a great description! Ok, One Minute Back is still in my upper echelon of Shinee songs and YOU GET IT. They don't be making em like this anymore!!! Can't wait til you see them do it live. Destination I often forget about but every time I hear it it's like YES LET'S GOOO. Loved your lyric translation and the salutes haha. I wonder if they came up with the military outfit concept based on that song or if they already had it planned and it just fits. Close the Door isn't a top Shinee ballad but of course still great, I agree it doesn't fit as much with the rest of the EP. It sounds much better in concert with other ballads sandwiched around it. Colorful I've always associated with Christmas and the holidays, because they released a special holiday video for it in 2013. Now that I think about it that video must have been one of the first Shinee videos I saw at the time it was released because I discovered Kpop in mid 2013. I think Everybody had just come out and I found Shinee right after. So this is a special album for me, I remember being blown away. Like oh, this is what pop music can sound like when it's done right. Incredible. Thanks PD, See you in Shinee World II !!

YESSSS. This is still peak SHINee EP although Atmos is quite close now. But nothing beats Symptoms, One Minute Back, Everybody, Colorful... I keep noticing that our taste is very similar, our ranking for Atmos was pretty much identical iirc and now I might only shuffle the order of the top 4 songs a little but they were all the same and then the other 3 we had in exactly same order. I don't hate Close The Door but I agree that it feels somewhat out of place. Excited for the SHINee World concerts! PS are you going to circle back and check out the Japanese albums once you're done with Korean discography? I think you initially said you'd be doing them all in chronological order, including Japanese, but you now skipped their 2nd full album (Boys Meet U) which was released in between Misconceptions and Everybody. The way you prepped for SWCI through III makes sense, but I'd highly suggest checking out their concerts in Japan at some point as they're equally as great, if not better (especially the 2014 and 2016 ones). Naturally they perform more Japanese than Korean songs there, so checking out Japanese albums would also be benefitial. And you'll hear some of the Japanese songs in their concerts in Korea as well btw.

Wow I haven’t listened to this EP in a while. I mostly go back to Symptoms and Colorful! I’m happy you were impressed by some of their more experimental songs!! Me being used to this style and experimentation was a slippery slope to getting into NCT later on lmao
