OMG FINALLY IM SO EXCITED

CJ

Woohoo!! Thanks, PD! Excited to check it out!

Harley

I’m so excited! There were a lot of “criticisms” when this album dropped because people keep saying they “miss the old bts” but this album literally was completely made by them. I hope you can check out the BEhind interview where each member takes turns interviewing each other on the album! It’s up on YouTube! I’m excited to watch this! Context for the Skit it was recorded after the announcement of Dynamite hitting #1 on Billboard Hot 100 chart which was the very first #1 BTS got ever and also the first Kpop/Korean song to ever hit #1 so it was such a big deal especially when it was on Jungkook’s birthday. Also in BTS older albums they used to usually include a skit that was them talking about something or a snippet from something like in LY Her they had their acceptance speech from BBMAs. I personally really love Blue and Grey it’s up there as one of my favorite BTS songs of all time. I think Stay is a song that ages really well like it wasn’t my fav song on the album at first but almost a year later I love blasting it in the car. I think bts do edm super well in their songs because they add that emotion to it. I’m glad you finally gave it a listen and to see your reception of it! Btw some of my favorite bts bsides are Paradise, Best of Me, Pied Piper, Seesaw, Wishing on a Star, Serendipity, Attack on Bangtan, and Like (btw if you want singing Hope that’s the song to listen to).

Réka O.

FINALLY! I'm sooo excited to watch this!! Btw I'm sorry if you already know about this or mentioned it, but PD please please please consider watching the BE-hind interviews! I just wanted to comment fast to make sure you see it :D It's 7 videos, each about 12-20 minutes and the members interview each other about the album making process and the roles they had. It is really fascinating if you want to know more about how their creative minds work and also if you want to get to know the members more. This was the album where they contributed the most out of all their releases so far, so it's even more interesting to hear their perspectives because of that. Here's a playlist, in case you want to watch it in the future! https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLO7UXNycE7ZY9IF8WbAedLinTat_tUf2J There's also a 1 hour 12 minute version but there are some scenes cut from that so I recommend the separate shorter ones.

Emily L.

Ahh so excited! Gonna watch once I get home~

Serena

this album is so amazing 😔💖 honestly my fav bts bside of all time is a really underrated one bc its coffee from their second mini album. idk the song has just always manages to make me smile and feel very warm inside and it has been my favourite for years now 💖

cynthia li

I absolutely adore this album, especially blue & grey. That song speaks to me on a deep emotional level, especially about the references to insomnia and how that correlates with feelings of sadness/depression. It was originally going to go on V's mixtape, but was rewritten to fit this album. Suga's verse in this just hits like a truck

Teagan

PD, Blue and Grey was originally going to be in V's mixtape (coming later this year or next year) but after the members heard it, they encouraged him to put it in the BE album after changing some of the lyrics (it was originally all in english).

nat

Listening to this album during a time where covid seemed like it was never going to go away was very healing. I saw someone tweet that in 00:00 they say “and you’re gonna be happy” but now in blue and grey they say “I just wanna be happier” which seems sad but it was comforting because it reassured me that i wasn’t the only one looking for a reason to be happy at the time.

nat

V actually listened to the demo of blue and grey in i think episode 5 of in the soop. It was while he was on the canoe!

Harley

Same thing with Stay except it was a song Jungkook was going to use on his mixtape! They really had every member contribute something amazing

CJ

Some of my favorite B side songs would be Anpanman and Baepsae but love Telepathy and Stay too. 💜

Anonymous

Dis-Ease is unquestionably my favourite on this album, love j-hope's verse and that bridge/outro part

Rebecca Parsons

Dis-ease is like one of my top 10 besides it's so good.

Liz

about the skit it's about when they hit #1 on billboard hot100 for the first time and it was with dynamite

希文 王

really glad PD checked out this album, and definitely recommend PD checking out the interviews!

Anonymous

Blue and Grey as soon as I heard it became my favorite B-side—the emotions it unlocked within me are incomparable to how any other song of theirs has made me feel as an army. It truly is a song I point to in order to say “music really transcends language” because the emotion from Blue and Grey needs no translation. I think I actually cried the first time I listened to it and I even made a playlist with this song on it over and over again to just listen to when I needed to destress or just be. Hands down my favorite b side and I’m so happy you were able to listen to it and vibe with it too, PD! Thank you for doing the listening party!

Liz

I felt like dis-ease was so epic, the first time i heard it I was mind blown especially by the bridge when it goes building up to the final chorus, it hit really hard

Réka O.

It is a near impossible task to select even a few favorite BTS b-sides because there's just so many I love! Paradise, Anpanman, Best of Me, Magic Shop, Butterfly, Euphoria, Black Swan, Baepsae, UGH... Also Dis-ease, it's definitely my favorite on this album since the first time I've heard it. I really needed that message when this came out and gave me a lot of encouragement to stand up and continue when I hit rock bottom. But the same goes for the whole album, it's not an exaggeration that the BE album (and BTS) helped me survive 2020.

aicrylic (aimee)

my fave bts bside of all time is tomorrow… an oldie

Dee

My two fave BTS b-sides of all time have to be Rain and 134340 - you can tell that I have thing for jazz haha

eli_nhdoaek

Correct me if I’m wrong hut I think Suga was working on Telepathy while they were “In the Soop”? You could really see how they evolve throughout their albums! They’re not afraid of changing their music styles too.

Ashley

I loved BE so much when it was first released. Blue & Grey still has me in a chock-hold, I used to play it on loop after it was first released. My instant favs were Fly to my room/ Blue & Grey and Dis ease. But I’ve been sitting with this album for about 9 months now and I’ve grown to love every song dearly. BE is most definitely in my top three best BTS albums list. It’s also their most personal album and it truly means a lot to me. My favorite BTS B side is Autumn Leaves

Karla

thank you for this reaction, PD! i've been waiting a long time for you to listen to this album i love it hereee i have so much to say omg where to start well first bangtan's lyricism /chefskiss/ tbh BE is the most bangtan-esque album to date maaan my emotions when this album came out weww, this was a really healing one and would always be so special to me, all the members were heavily involved on this album it's very personal to them,, "blue and grey" was supposed to be on taehyung's mixtape but he put it on this album and actually "stay" was supposed to be on jungkook's mixtape but taehyung himself recommended that song to the members and in the end they put in the album too! i love all the songs in this album,, fly to my room is such a fun song and the lyrics are sooo relatable and comforting especially last year when everyone was stuck at home blue and grey narrates sadness and depression expressed in these colors it's so hauntingly beautiful this song really hits hard i love that tae wanted to comfort those who are fighting silent battles everyday,, fun fact: taehyung played the draft of this song on in the soop when he was in the canoe the skit was really funny 😂 it was when they first got their billboard hot 100 number 1 for dynamite and it was jungkook's birthday also BTS were really happy so that was the best time telepathyyy i love me some singing yoongi too!!! you've already heard a part of the song when you saw the BTS room live on a livestream!!! i want to see this song live so bad and the fact that yoongi worked on this during in the soop so he was probably feeling all the love with bangtan im so fond,, i actually connect with dis-ease a lot, the lyrics on this song is so relatable to me like the whole toxic productivity especially when your passion is your job, this song really stood out and i love old school hiphop,, fun fact jimin actually wrote the bridge for dis-ease it's sooo iconic stay is such a well done electronic type of song and also it's hands down the best workout song like i've been having the time of my life working out to this song it's a whole bop as for bangtan b-sides as a whole wow it's so hard to pick,, i personally love black swan, home, love maze, butterfly, let go but omg there's so much more! like what you've said they have so many amazing b-sides it's a testament to how amazing their discography is i saw people commenting about the BTS BE-hind interviews and i would really love it if you can consider reacting to that in the future!!! it's so insightful and i always love hearing them talk about the process and their music in general 💜

Violet Joo

BTS is what in korean we call 수록곡 맛집 ㅋㅋㅋ. There are a lot of song that can be tittle tracks. I love Piped piper, Telepathy, Outro:Wings, Outro:Tear, Butterfly and so much more.

Sarah Batt

My fav B-side from this album is Stay. My all time fav B-side will always be Wings, So What, Don't leave me.

R875d

Thank you for your great reaction. for me I feel this album is like a healing\therapy cycle, I mean it starts with LIFE GOES ON and ends with dynamite that fact only tells a lot. life goes on-fly to my room - blue and grey(these songs have the most healing lyrics also the vibe for them sad\calm) then skit came and interrupt the feelings after that Telepathy-Dis-ease (have a brighter vibe and it is like an encouraging songs?) and then end with Stay -dynamite which they have a party vibe to it. so I remember when the album came I start listening to it while I am crying and end it dancing and feeling good lol.

jade

blue and grey just blew me away the first time i heard it and i think it'll be up there with the best of bts songs and have major longevity! it's especially heartwarming that so many armys loved it considering how deeply personal it was for tae (speaking about his depression/burnout). also finally i've met another person who loves best of me! i'm another person who just deeply loves yoongi verses and best of me has to be up there as one of his best. i have way too many "bside" favs (i don't know if they'd be considered bsides considering they're a japanese release and solos, but i'm counting non tt lol) but they're up there with best of me for me, which are lights, awake, reflection, just one day and coffee (which are bsides). definitely too many to pick lol. also i know some people have already mentioned it but i think it really highlights how personal this album was for them that blue + grey and stay were both meant to be in tae and jungkook's mixtapes but they were convinced to put them in for submission for the album. a lot of people like to harp on about "i miss the old bts" and "bts are insulting their korean roots by only singing in english" while completely ignoring the korean album they put out (but also that argument is bs anyway, korean singers don't need to sing exclusively in korean to be close to their "roots", it's called exploring different things) and failing to recognise that artists evolve as they grow older, i mean they're 8 years older than when they debuted of course they've evolved and changed and that isn't a bad thing. on a lighter note, even though a lot of armys really love and were so emotional listening to blue + grey, i think dis-ease was the most talked about (and is still) for that amazing bridge.

R875d

about your question for BILLBOARD acutely BTS always appear in the bb chart since the beginning. but the special about it was Billboard HOT 100 dynamite debut #1 on Billboard chart first Korean ever to do that. but since then (life goes on - butter for 9 week- permission to dance) all of these songs debut as #1 on billboard hot 100 ... there is a few Artist who did that less than 10 and keep in mind that BTS are outside America. I try my best to write it correctly if there is any mistake excuse me I am not that good in English

R875d

also, I can't wait to suggest (Blue and grey MTV unplugged) it is a more beautiful live and Dis-ease they did perform it in their anniversary concert with Army fanchant

jade

also during release day (before translations could come out) armys were dancing along to dis-ease thinking it was such a good upbeat dance song and then the absolute carnage when we read the translations and realised how emotional the lyrics were and that just connected into the whole dis-ease (as in being uneasy) and disease, as the contradiction between how the song sounds and the actual content/lyrics makes you feel a bit uneasy at first like it throws you off balance. i got the feeling that, even if it might not have been for the same reason, you were a bit off balance after it so a very universal feeling!

Anonymous

jimin wrote the dis-ease bridge in like 30 minutes !! that's how talented he is. jungkook also wrote a different version of the brige which he uploaded to weverse and both are incredible.

Anita Ofokansi

So glad you finally got to this album PD. 😭 When it first dropped I remember Iistening to it with 2 fellow armys and it was such an emotional ride, which is saying something bc we hadn’t even seen the lyrics yet lmao. I remember crying and shouting and just being shell-shocked, awed, blown away by every single track. My #1 favorite song after having heard the album so many times now has to be Fly to My Room. Top 3 for me would be that song along with Dis-ease and B&G. I cannot stand most electronic music (I strongly dislike So What, shoot me!) but Stay is so damn good I didn’t even realize it was edm until someone else mentioned it 💀

laura ramirez

Some of my favorite BTS' B-sides are: Telepathy, So what, Best of Me, Outro: Tear, 134340, and Pied Piper :)

H

This album is excellent and that is why I get mad when people say BTS lost their way. How they don’t sing in Korean anymore. They completely choose to forget map of the soul 7 and BE both came out in 2020 and all but one song were in Korean. Also I just wanted to say Blue&Grey will be that song if they sing in concert that the whole stadium will be in tears. Dis-ease bridge was the most surprising part of this album. BTS never disappoints.

kelly

be is a god tier album but let's be real.... did we really expect anything less than excellency from bts?

Malaki.H

Blue and grey is definitely my fav on this album including the title track, it just hits different like it made me cry when I first heard it, my second fav bside is stay, I immediately loved it when I first heard it. Now the other 3 songs were definitely growers for me I wasn't that into them on the first listen but now I like them and my ranking for them goes like this Disease Telepathy Fly to my room I would rank this album an 8 out 10, it's a great album as usual from bts but not my fav when it comes to their albums as whole. But when it comes to blue and grey yes it's definitely one of my fav bsides from them ever!!!

N

are you gonna do nct dream on 20th?

Jana

blue and grey is hands down my favourite song on this album like when you’re sad and listen to this songs it just HITS 😭 honestly b&g is fighting with paradise to be my fave bts bside of all time! dis-ease is probably the second 10/10 on this album for me, the bridge just goes so hard!! i think it’s really interesting that with this album i feel like there’s no one bside that is the best as a general fandom consensus, in fact everyone i speak to prefers different songs on the album which just speaks to how great this album is in terms of range and musicality tbh. totally agree with your points regarding the lyricism as well like this album was so healing last winter in lockdown but at the same time it’s ageing so well, it is not constricted to pandemic consumption at all

dani

AHH YAYY!! i’m so happy you loved this album :) bts are fucking incredible you should’ve seen my reaction listening to telepathy and dis-ease for the 1st time.. i was in awe. i was speechless. i was taken away by how amazing those two songs are. for monthsss i’ve been debating which one out of the two is my favorite and i can finally say that dis-ease is #1 on my list with telepathy being a close 2nd. i have to say that the dis-ease bridge has got to be their best bridge. stay makes me very emotional whenever i listen to it just like whenever i listen to best of me or wings.. those songs just mean a whole lot to me and they’re definitely in my all time favorite b-sides of theirs. i have a whole lot of other favorite b-sides of theirs that i can’t choose from to be my number one cause they just make phenomenal music. to name a few though… black swan (don’t know to count as a title track or a bside but BLACK SWAN.), ynwa, paradise, tomorrow, pied piper, home, dionysus, and many more. but yes i love this album so much and it really has helped me a whole lot with everything going on in life and with covid and all that. i’m very happy you’ve done a listening party to it. it was very fun to listen along with you! :)

Viviena

It's impossible to choose a B-side as I usually love them more than title tracks. Even if we were to ignore solos, there are literally dozens... Not to mention Japanese releases. On this album my absolute favorite was Dis-ease tho!

Viviena

High five! Add Pied Piper and hose are three most listened songs of last year for me!

h

For me BE actually came out on my birthday so it’s got a very special place in my heart. The timing of the album of the was perfect as at the time I was a first year uni student and dealing with a lot of emotions and loneliness, so the songs were nothing but comfort and healing. Blue & Grey summed up my emotions perfectly & is one of the only songs that can elicit pure emotion & tears from me lol. It is definitely one of my favourite BTS albums and it’s one that comforted me during a rough patch. Glad you finally checked it out and liked it. Also some extra info on the songs- B&G was actually meant to be on Taehyung’s solo mixtape, it was a song he wrote during a rough time dealing with burnout (he actually played a version of it in In The Soop during his canoe trip) but in the end they decided to put it on the album as a group song. Telepathy was produced mainly by SUGA & Dis-ease mainly by JHOPE. Can’t wait for more LPs x

Aiz

PD I don't know if you know, but you've heard the demo of Blue & Grey before! It's the song V plays on the canoe in ep. 5 of In the Soop, and was supposed to be on V's (still unreleased) mixtape but the rest of the boys liked it so much that he translated/adapted it for them and the rap parts were added! The same goes for Stay, which was supposed to be on Jungkook's mixtape but everyone liked it a lot when they heard it that it turned into a album B-side!

Sathya

My favourite BTS B-Side is "Like" from their debut lmao it's been 8 years and I'm still not over that song. Also "Where are you from?" (That one is kind old too but i love it and RM singing) and their intros "What am I to you?", "Nevermind", "Boy meets evil", "The most beautiful moment in life" and "Singularity" are great too. Also I loved the production in their old stuff it was so creative and fun! But yeah, they have polished their sound a lot since then.

Kelly

Some of my all-time favorite BTS' B-sides are: Young Forever, Butterfly, Euphoria, Make it right, Answer: Love myself, I'm Fine, and House of Cards.

paige bloomer

Favorite BTS b-side is Louder than Bombs! It's so contrasting with the motivational lyrics but dark sound and its so powerful. Close second is definitely blue & grey, it's so deep and the fact that V wrote it while in a dark place makes me connect to it even more.

Angie

favorite bside are Stigma, Inner Child, Tear, Crystal Snow, Mikrosmos, My Time, Cypher 3, First Love, Airplane Pt.2, Zero O Clock, Moon, Lie, Ugh, Serendipitdy, Tomorrow, Let Me Know, Rain, House of Cards, The Truth Untold, Friends, Dionysus, Louder than Bombs, Blue & Grey, What Am I To You, Butterfly, Love Myself, I'm Fine, Like, and Let Go.

Angie

it's a lot LOL, but that's off the top of my head :')

lionessX89

Dis-ease is definitely my favorite on the album. That bridge that leads into the crescendo of that last chorus will forever get to me. My favorite b-sides from BTS are definitely Dis-ease, Baepsae, Rain, Tomorrow, Second Grade, Boy Meets Evil, Lie, and Pied Piper.

tanasia

dis-ease!!!!

tanasia

their first #1 was with dynamite lol

tanasia

there’s too many good bts bsides how can y’all pick

Anonymous

i love the flow of the album, sad to party. lyrics so good. the emotion in their voices! The whole story/making of the album too. One of my very favorite albums.

SugandSunshine

Blue and Grey is truly a masterpiece. I relate to the lyrics so much and it is really special.

Julianne

BE is so special but hard to like, spam a track to PD because I think half of what makes it magic is how cohesive it feels and it really flows together emotionally and msucially. But yeah I can't pick a fav track from BE. In the first week of release, Fly to My Room and Telepathy were my favorite. And Dis-ease very quickly took over. Blue and Grey also just ends up perfect for my mood sometimes and Stay grew on me a lot. Honestly think the album is best listened together LMAO. I will also NEVER get over how flawlessly Stay goes into Dynamite. Stay wasn't my fav in the first week and I was also tired of Dynamite. BUT I listened through the album every times anyways just to hear that transition lmao.

Julianne

If you're interested and want to check it out on your own, NIve participated in the song writing and posted a video about the process on his youtube channel. (I love NIve lmao)

Julianne

The Skit is about dynamite debuting #1 on billboard hot 100. They've had songs on the hot 100 chart before and albums on the something something 200? And things like global whatnot, but the billboard hot 100 is a first and one of the biggest billboard charts? I guess. But yeah. It's about Dynamite.

Julianne

I'm also incapable of picking a BTS b-side. I love so many of them. Answer Love Myself feels so good, mikrokosmos, paldogangsan, rain, boyz with fun, second grade. idk how to pick. AND so many I didn't list lmao. I really really love their discography.

Alison Renaud

Best of Me is also my fav B side!! I love that song and feel it on such a deeper level. Jhope wrote Disease and V wrote Blue and Gray. This whole album is completely self produced and designed by BTS. Thats why it feels so much more personal. Everything about this album is why I love BTS and what makes them true artists. I wish all kpop groups could produce an album that's completely their own I think it would allow us to see them on a different level. BTS have always been so honest with their writing and lyrics. It still amazed me how deeply they make us feel every single song. They wanted this album to be their most personal one and it truely is. Besides Best Of Me I think Magic Shop might be my second fav b-side. There's just so many good songs!! BTS are one of the few groups or artists where I can listen to their entire discography beginning to end and not skip a single song. I cant wait for another full Korean album comeback from them. I want more of this from them its why I love them so much!

希文 王

One of my favorite bsides is house of cards and black swan

DAVIDE CARELLA

my best favourite bside tracks are Move On, House Of Cards, HipHop lovers, Jump and many more of their first albums, but blue and grey hit so hard, its kinda like they turn back in time, it feels so nostalgic, love it

Mariam Toffey

Blue and Grey and Telepathy are my favourite off this album. They are also among my favourite B sides, but there are so many good b sides it's unreal

Kayla

Tomorrow is and will always be my favorite b side. It connected with me so much I even got it tattooed. My other favorite b side is definitely Black Swan. My favorite off the BE album though is for sure Dis-ease!

joe cooke

Ye blue and grey is just a masterpiece in my eyes. So soft, elegant yet powerful

希文 王

also just something I've noticed (and I could be wrong!), but so far the truth untold, jamais vu, and blue & grey have all been ballads that PD liked, so while BTS may not be on the same 10 for 10 level of ballads that PD likes (like BTOB), they seem pretty up there (at least in recent years, no idea what PD thinks of their earlier ballads)!

Dharling

I don't even know where to start with my favorite BTS B-sides... OT7 "slower" songs, that I love but sometimes have to be in a specific mood would be; Blue and grey and We are bulletproof : The Eternal Sub units; House of Cards and The truth untold Solo's would be Stigma But overall favorite BTS B-sides OT7; 2! 3!, Like, Best of me, Paradise, Anpanmann, Converse High, Mikrokosmos, Home, 2nd Grade, Embarrased and Dis-ease Sub Units; Friends and UGH! and Outro: Tear (A brand new day ft. Zara Larrson) Solo's: Awake, Moon, Inner Child, Serendipity and Trivia : Seesaw Now can I put them in a specific ranking... no, I really can't do that, just like how I can't rank their tittle tracks. If I had to rank them somehow, it would be through those tier rankings that got really popular on YouTube. Personally I do really like Be, it definitely fells very personal, if you were to compare them to their other album, and I don't think there's any songs that doesn't fit in, well except Dynamite, that does feel quite random, but I still love the song. Overall I consider Be somewhat of a mood or a state of mind.

Teressa Thomas

All time BTS b sides for me: Tomorrow, Baepsae/Silver Spoon, Tomorrow, Lost, Wings, and Tomorrow. I freaking love Tomorrow.

Kpop_Platypus

Ah yes, now I remember why I didn't remember this album very well: I'm not big on *feels* as a general rule and the first part of the album is rather *FEELY*. 😅 I only actually liked and saved Dis-ease & Stay on Spotify. I'm glad PD & ARMY love it, though! My favorite b-side is dimple; I really vibe with the sultry tension of the song.

mango_sope

When I heard on your Permission to Dance reaction that you finally did a BE listening party, I had to sign up for Patreon to see ur reactions to the songs.

adam conroy

I know what I have wrote below will of been commented a lot all ready but just had to get my thoughts down and share my thoughts on the album and join the conversation 1 thing it Baer in mind on the B Sides which ever member Wrote the song they have the first solo lines on each song. I guess the members are all acknowledging the member that wrote each song which is something else I love V wrote Blue and Grey in English for his mixtape the other members loved it so much he had to re write in Korean to be used on the able same with Stay that was wrote by Jungkook with help from RM for his mixtape . So ya blue and grey was a personal song it was at first very personal to V and I think that is one of the reason why it comes across like that and it gives us a hint at how good V can be when it comes to song writing. The skit is the first time they went number 1 on billboard when they got back in the studio they just turned on the mic and recorded their totally raw reactions to it. Which. Is another release why this album is so incredible and Historic. For BTS ARMY that then totally raw reactions have been recorded and will be there forever so in many years times people can listen to it and get there reactions to it long after even all of us who are living thought it now and the members are well gone Also I might be wrong but during in the Soop when Suga is showing Jimin a song and the camera goes to the outside of the camper van so you don’t hear the song I think it was telepathy that suga was working on And finally J-Hope wrote Disease of course. BTS pretty much made this album themselves each member took charge of different aspects JK we know directed the Life Goes on MV and for example V was visuals director so the phtohsoots for the album where managed by V. BE was a dream come true for BTS to be fully in charge of an album from top to bottom rather then the label

Anonymous

i really like pied piper and dimple!
