I’m so excited! This EP was so good! Whistle is sooo good! I cried when I first heard it I’m not lying. I need it to be fully promoted. My ranking would be 1) Whistle 2) AllDayLong 3)Heart of Sunflower 4) Airplane (honestly it’s hard to rank 2 and 3 because I love them for different reasons but at the end of the day I am a City Pop slut) Heart of Sunflower gives me Kidult vibes.

I agree with the comment on idol ballads being “not authentic” or not having enough emotions. I feel the same when I read some lyrics and then check the name of the writer, but then it turns out that it is not written by the members themselves and it loses it’s charm for me. I still enjoy them tho. For example, I love “Dear” by dreamcatcher as it was written by JiU but Heart of a Sunflower loses a bit of it charm as it’s written by Leez but I still enjoy it. Also, thanks for the reaction!

Leez and Ollunder are Dreamcatchers main writers/producers since Full Moon/You and I era so they're basically credited in all their songs. Leez also worked for Ateez since their debut.

Aside from a few exceptions LEEZ and Ollounder are responsible for composing and writing most of DC's songs, since their Chase Me era, their work is top notch and I also love how ambitious DC's music often is. Absolutely agree, Whistle is THAT song for me, I understand your comparison to Silent Night

Your reaction to Whistle was exactly what I wanted, thank you. In terms of Dreamcatcher experimenting: I think they have done that on pretty much every project since at least Tree Of Language. Not on every song obviously, but they usually have at least one or two bsides that feel different from what they’ve done in the past: Black Or White, Jazz Bar, Poison Love, Whistle, Airplane and even Alldaylong. It might not be radical shake ups to their formula, but I don’t think they need to flip the table upside down in order to get inventive. I think we’re used to groups (especially girl groups) having a cultural reset moment (like Twice’s Fancy). I don’t think that’s DC’s journey. And that’s okay for me. But then again, I’m already an InSomnia, I don’t need much convincing to enjoy their music. Maybe to attract new fans, they’ll try something different in the future.

YESSS!!!!!! I'm so glad you love Whistle as much as I do. Literally been obsessed and repeating it since the album came out! Superior b-side. That and BEcause are my favourites! But I love Alldaylong too. All sooo good! Though I do agree about Airplane, that's the only song on the album I don't choose to listen to but if it comes on shuffle I'll leave it on.

These B-sides are so different and I like it. When I heard airplane my head went straight to "Oh, this could be a Oh My Girl song" and now I want them to do a cover because they would fit so well. Whistle is straight fire and Alldaylong feels almost like Rain x JYP at the beginning. And than the almost obligatory ballad of the release. All in all maybe not my top release by B-sides but great nevertheless. Ollounder and Leez are just great period.

whistle reminds me so much of edm songs i used to hear on the radio all the time when i was a kid (back in the 00s). i find a lot of european edm influences in dc's music in general. its so refreshing and also nostalgic for me personally.

Loved the reaction! Interesting to hear your thoughts on the ballad, when I was listening to it I actually felt the opposite. I thought the high and thin voices gave me the feeling of a frail and innocent sadness. But I can see where your coming from 🙂 Keep up the good work bro.

Jiu actually said recently that Airplane, Whistle, and Because were all candidates for the title track. It would have been interesting if they had went with Airplane or Whistle as the title track.

I loved Whistle and AllDayLong, I liked Airplane, and Heart of Sun flower was just okay for me. I agree with you, i think it would be cool if they mixed it up and tried different things besides rock. I like how experimental their b-sides are, so i would love a crazy title track.

PD's reaction to Whistle was worth every cent of this Patreon subscription. I've come back to watch it multiple times. It's a shame that YouTube won't see it because this song deserves a whole bunch more exposure.

I know there was a short thread in here about LEEZ and Ollounder, but to summarize... LEEZ and Ollounder used to be part of trio called Super Bomb and have been Dreamcatcher's main producers since the very beginning. They have worked on every DC album and if not all then like 99% of their songs. While EDEN is ATEEZ's main producer, LEEZ has been co-producing all of their tracks since their debut and Ollounder's been producing with them since the Wave/Illusion era. I like to think of LEEZ and Ollounder as Dreamcatcher's eighth member (collectively) and Sooyeon as the ninth.

So first I want to say I love Whistle. But I had an interesting thing happen while hearing it the other day. I had my music on shuffle and was not entirely paying attention to the songs and voices. I got very startled to here feminine voices because my brain was very much expecting to here male voices for some reason. I eventually figured out my brain had connected VIXX's Error and Whistle so the feminine voices were weirdly startling. I'm not sure if the two songs just sound really similar to me or what. Does anybody else kinda hear that in the song?
