I'm watching this again and for some reason, *this* rewatch is what made me want to paint again... I haven't tried it since I was, like, 12, but I now really want to pick up a brush :') Digital just isn't the same (and I'm not very good at it either hahaha). Anyway, just wanted to say this and that I really agree with your thoughts at the end 😊

Yay! Thanks for the upload!

ah, what a good way to start a monday morning; i needed a pick me up

Elisa

if i remember correctly the chef was in an episode of run bts and that's why they know each other !! i really hope you will watch run bts it's really funny and iconic

I'm always so impressed at how insightful you are PD! I think your read on the member's personalities was spot on. Yeah, Taehyung is definitely very funny, he is just a lot more subtle and deadpan about it nowadays. I loved your perspective on Namjoon treating rap as poetry - it seems to capture Namjoon's vibe very well. And yes, I hope everyone takes this as a sign to give yourself a break! We deserve it after the hellscape that was 2021.

Pd iced coffee in the morning is a must for me all year round. Although in the winter I do love a good hot latte to start my day, especially with how gloomy and cold the weather gets in the uk. But I only drink hot coffee if it’s made with espresso, none of that instant garbage. *I sound like a coffee snob I know lol* :)

I've been wanting to ask PD and I don't remember if you've mentioned before but after watching a few shows from bangtan do you think you have a bias?

Just like you watching In The Soop pushed me to start reading again. I've always loved reading but somehow over the years I've just gotten away from it. I really wanted to attempt to read more in 2022 and I've already read over 6 books in January. I think I had forgotten how much I love to read (and audiobooks have helped me be able to squeeze it in when I can't actually sit down to read). I've also gotten into art journaling recently and I feel like it has helped so much to have a creative outlet again. I used to be part of a pottery studio before the pandemic but it got permanently shut down and I think not having a creative outlet really hurt me. In The Soop season 1&2 really are also such a good reminder to me on how important getting out in nature is and I'm lucky to live in an area with a lot of safe places to get out and about.

i took up knitting again, it's a very relaxing hobby for me and i just kind of lost it for a while but watching in the soop along with you made me want to pick it up again. i've also wanted to start painting again but haven't taken the steps for that yet since i'd need to buy supplies for that while i already have everything i need to knit. i've really enjoyed watching in the soop with you. weirdly, i'm not even a fan of bts but this series has given me an appreciation for them.

Paige

Does anybody know if the chef they called is the same chef that Jin gave strawberries to recently?

Paige

PD, thank you so much for your insightful discussions! You mentioned in your New Year post (I think it was that post at least) that you have been studying psychology and philosophy this past year. Do you have any resources such as books or videos that you would recommend? I really want to explore those subjects some more, and In The Soop inspired me to start that journey, especially in the spiritual sense cuz I've been going around trying to ignore the glooming questions in the back of my mind. You've also mentioned your weird relationship with death which is something that significantly impacts me as well, and I think those subjects are an interesting way to analyze it.

Once again, thank you so much for watching this season with us. Re-watching Soop with you has become part of my monday routine and its just such a nice way to start into the week.

Harley

It's bittersweet to be done with In the Soop because I love seeing your reactions and insight to all the members personalities. But I'm very excited to get to more Bon Voyage this next season is a good transition and I think you'll really enjoy it! I personally got inspired by both seasons to cook more and specifically cook Korean food and it's been fun! I even made my own Tteokguk for New Years!

JoY

Love your thoughts at the end and this show helps me relax and seeing them paint ,read or even play an instrument It made me want to try different things also definitely agree with what you said about Tae and Namjoon . Bam was a nice guest to have and seeing jungkook taking care of him was sweet .

Namjoon has been interested in rap since he was really young. More so in his younger days it was an outlet/ platform for him to express certain emotions he was feeling. And when you’re younger you have the angst/ the world is against me that type of vibe so his music reflected that. I mean the juxtaposition between RM and mono is mind blowing. But along with rapping Namjoon has always been a writer. And an amazing writer very expressive and intelligent and cunning and smart with his words. Which he has used to write these amazing songs for BTS and himself. I enjoyed your Analysis of his current persona and I agree but I also wanted to add on to it. Rap is not something Namjoon picked up because of K-pop he has always been writing and raping from a very young age. He has a deep/ respectful understanding of the culture and genre. So although recently he isn’t delivering typical rap sounds he will always rap. Recently he has taken to a more melodic rap style, which is still rap. So to sum it up I’m just trying to say that Namjoon is still into rap just as much as he has always been and always will be. It’s not a phase for him. I’m sad to see the end of In The Soop 2 but I can’t wait to watch Bon Voyage 2 over again. In The Soop really made me realize that I need to tap into enjoying nature more. I’m a homebody but I want to try more outdoor activities. Also seeing BTS paint made me just want to do so just as freely.

hot is the devil's temperature. I can't remember the last time I've had a hot drink in the morning.

Hmm...interesting thoughts about RM! it's hard to express the whole journey RM has been through (he's spoken about it a few times in vlives, his struggles and thoughts), but I partially agree that he is a poet, disagree that he isn't much of a rapper; he believes in the power of words, which is also why he keeps reading and adjusts himself accordingly (like taking his lyrics to a feminist professor to check if there's anything wrong about it), and also why he changed his stage name from Rap Monster to RM; I think he's a rapper and a poet and Kim Namjoon, also BTS' leader among many things! Personal hobbies: reading books, writing, watching movies and youtube, watching PD rage lol (my mom and brother have made comments on how often PD is on my screen haha)

Melody

PD have you thought of watching/reacting to BTS movies Burnn the Stage and Bring the Soul, I think you might enjoy it. Also have you not heard of the Korean saying about iced coffee or die in Korea even though it’s winter or cold, it’s a thing.

Haruka

Reading is something makes me happy. But ever since i started reading e-books/fanfictions etc online; i can not read a pyhsical book. I forgot how to hold a book, it's so weird. I'm trying to get back to reading a book pyhsically again *-*

dani

i totally agree with what you said about their growth in music! which is exactly why i’m so excited to see what kind of music they release when that new album comes!! cant believe it’s been more than a year since their last album.. we might also get new mixtapes from them this year too!! watching this season of in the soop inspired me to start reading more! as well as go outside and take more walks. it’s a bit scary because i go by myself but it’s still very relaxing! i’m very grateful to live in an area where it’s great to go on walks :)

nat

Their break the silence documentary might be something you’d enjoy to watch!

When I click on the video it says I need a password to watch. Anyone else experiencing this? Does anyone know the “password”?

Gillian

I loved rewatching these episodes with you, PD. I enjoyed them on my own, but somehow watching it with someone else really puts another perspective on it and pointing out things you may not have noticed before. Some things these seasons have brought me is 1) cooking more 2) reading more 3) doing something more creative. I ended up making pork belly one weekend because I saw them cooking it and I felt in the mood to cook (it was passable at best) but just today I made kimchijeon and enjoyed it (so did my guinea pig of a brother). I've been trying to read more - it has been difficult over the years since I stopped at one point but I'm easing myself back into it. And I've been itching to be more creative but I don't have a lot of room for it. I did start having a crafts night with some friends so that is definitely a start in the right direction. Safe to say I've gotten a lot out of this series and I'm glad others have as well.
