Avin Ahmadi

hey PD! I hope you will consider reacting to their newest release, Boom!

Layman's Outlook

I agree yellow punch as the name didn't make sense at all. Now you only have 1 more album to check out from rocket punch. Their Japanese ep. Also I thought you were drinking vodka for a second in this video.

Hell yeah, one more person on the Louder hype train!

Louder was such a surprise! I did not expect to find such a song on this album given how it was going, but I'm super happy they included it because it's my fave (besides the legendary title track) I also agree that the yellow in the name and the artwork don't fit the album concept whatsoever. It's so strange

Their explanation for the yellow during promotions was that it represented the lights of a fashion show to express confidence like models walking in a runway. I can see the confidence in the lyrics of some of the songs like Chiquita, In My World and Red Balloon but I do agree that if this was the sentiment they wanted to portrait the art of the album shouldn't have been a school bus and just put the fashion show they made the girls say in the explanation. Or actually use like you said the purple since the fans do speculate that if they continue with the color series there will be a purple punch album eventually. And it is "shout up" in the lyrics but the dance movement they do on that part definitely implies a "shut up" more...don't know if they didn't want them saying "shut up" or something cause it would fit the rest of the lyrics much better. Also yeah their vocals are maturing specially Suyun's and Yunkyoung's. I'm actually proud of Yunkyoung's evolution as a vocalist since when they debuted I didn't think she would be the one stepping up to be a main vocalist alongside Suyun. So it makes sense their songs/sound is also evolving to showcase them better. They also said that they want to be a group that can be versatile and do any concept in their own colors. In the end I really like this album and my favorites are Red Balloon and Louder.

I am so very in love with Red Balloon. I really feel like it's a phenomenal headphones experience in particular. They do a great job creating a complex and patient soundscape, and it's so detailed. Maybe I'm just musically illiterate, but are there words for some of the sounds they're weaving together in the instrumental? And yet it feels understated and leaves so much room for exploring the vocals, especially in the climax. I want to contrast it with Lilac, which is also phenomenal but in a different way. Lilac feels very simple in comparison, it's a bait&switch with a *legendary* payoff. Red Balloon, and most of this album in general, feels like I've been simmering my bolognese for 3 hours and I'm finally starting to unlock that compelling depth and flavor that demands time and investment. Makes me really excited and hopeful for hour 6 of the bolognese, if you follow the analogy lmao.

Same, red ballon, sounds like an Oh My Girl song, but such a nice Rocket Punch EP!

PD, Since LOUDER is so up in your alley, You mind wanna check out REOL. She is a Japanese singer that makes this kind of music sound. unless you already know of her. When I first heard LOUDER I immediately thought of "ギミアブレスタッナウ (Give Me a Break Stop Now)" from REOL.
