ive been a kpop fan since dec 2017/jan 2018 and havent rly listened to snsd beyond the super popular songs, but honestly i really enjoy this song. i think its very nostalgic and sweet, even if i dont really have a basis of where the nostalgia is pulling from. this is the first snsd song ive added to my playlist and it makes me really want to go and do a deep dive of their other songs!

I thought the green screen scene reminded me of the intro to The Boys. Also the outdoor scene reminded me of I got a boy

my experience was interesting with this. my first era of kpop was as a casual fan of snsd and dbsk before members left. didn't listen to their bsides. basically only the mvs and some variety vids here and there. after that, i kinda fell away from kpop. then i returned to kpop as a part of a fandom for the first time with 3rd gen groups, namely as a BTS ARMY back in the IDOL / LY era. that said, forever 1 moved me a lot. it felt like old SNSD as you said. nostalgic. when i listened to the album, one of the bsides (lucky like that) reminded me a lot of all my love is for you. so while i'm not a sone, it feels very much like a call back to my youth <3

the scene you liked is indeed a helipad/helicarrier and it's a callback to SNSD's iconic Genie music show performance on a military helipad which got like crazy high ratings in Korea back then. It's one of those scenes that resembles previous MVs like you pointed out correctly earlier

I'm actually pretty new to K-Pop (got into it late 2018 through Blackpink) but SNSD became my favourite group after getting into them in 2020. They pretty much carried me through the pandemic and still are the biggest source of positive energy I gain in my free time. Something about their music, them as a group and the individual personalities of each member just really resonates with me. I actually really regreted getting into them after they were active and really wished to experience at least one comeback so Forever 1 means a lot to me. I'm not a fan of 15 years like others but I still cried like a baby watching the MV and reading those lyrics. The rest of the album is incredible as well and SNSD treating their fans these days so much despite all their busy individual schedules is kinda unreal. They go to variety shows, music shows, have their own reality show and even do a fan meeting concert. Everything because SNSD means just as much to them as to their fans. That's why they celebrate their 15th anniversary in such fashion. And I don't think any group will be able to do something like this anytime soon. Bringing together idols/actresses from 4 different agencies 5 years after the last group comeback and still be so relevant and active as they are now. It's only Girls' Generation for me :)

I'm in the same boat but with BigBang lol I got into k-pop first through BTS in 2016-2017 (I think it was BST got released). But always been someone that puts 2-4 songs of different artists in one playlist rather than listen to 1 artist exclusively. Aside from certain western grunge/punk/rock bands. So did the same with korean music and found myself to gravitate more towards indie music. (HYUKOH, Jukjae, ...). But the groups that really became my favorites were WINNER and BigBang. More than any other group I find their music to stand by itself. They don't need the chorea/visuals/bells&whistles to make their music amazing.

I got into kpop mostly on 4th gen groups, but I did appreciate this comeback and glad that they didn't try to fit into the current kpop trend sounds groups are putting out these days. As a newer fan, I did actually like their b-sides on the album and I hope you do a listening party to it! I feel like all songs are different from each other with experimenting sounds and I dig it all! My favorite is Closer and Summer Night :3

What you said about the really subtle references to their past MVs, I think that’s pretty much spot on. You have the MV concept with every member doing their own individual activities, just like in their debut where every member had an individual dream they wanted to reach towards and now that 15 years has passed, they finally did reach them. The boat scene with the group in shorts and striped tops is 100% a reference to Genie’s costume and set design. And the slow motion scene during the bridge is most likely referencing to their MV for The Boys where they also had a very similar effect. There’s also other tiny Easter eggs that a throughout the MV, but those three are the biggest references I caught while watching it the first few times.

I'm an old school SNSD fan and this song was extremely satisfying. You summed it up well. It sounded nostalgic, like a lost song that they just put out. I appreciate that they didn't change up their sound to try to appeal to the masses. This was fun for the fans!

Will you be reaction to the album?
