Let's set a new rule: If KEY releases a studio album it's automatically album of the year for me.

Joking aside, the only reason I don't dub this my album of the year is because I want to give everyone a fair shot 'till the very end but uhhhhh this might be AOTY?

Haven't started the listening party yet, but I hope you got to see a performance for Villain at the end, because Jeno actually participated during the comeback, they did a couple music shows together and there's also a dance practice if I remember correctly! Or if you didn't maybe as a little bonus reaction?! Let's see, I'm so excited for this Gotta love featurings between SM artists. And really gotta appreciate Key man, his artistry is on another level!!

AOTY in general is saved for Beyoncé’s Renaissance but if we’re talking in the Kpop realm? It’s probably Wonpil’s solo album or Chungha’s Bare and Rare or Le Sserafim’s Fearless. But I don’t want to say for sure because I’m waiting for the October comebacks

I knew you would love this album!! Key served a really good retro sound. My favorites are: - Villain, cause I really love the grunt sound and what Jeno does with his voice when singing on this song - Ain't Gonna Dance, it has a really nice and unpredictable change on the chorus - Another Life, Key rapping here sounds so good In general it's a 10/10 album for me, I only got kinda disappointed with the title when I heard the b-sides, I felt like the instrumentals swallowed his voice idk

So glad you were able to react to this album, its absolutely am incredible album. If you get the chance, you should react to the live stages/studio choom of Gasoline, Bound, and Villain. As well as the MV from his concert for Another life. They are all amazing! Fun fact, he wrote proud based on his moms parenting diary.

My favourite has to be Bound... that song was... oh boy... sexy af... then Another Life because of that 80s flare I can never get enough of, probably Villain. All are amazing though. There's a song for every mood, if you need cheering up, if you want to feel good about yourself, if you want to be a badass walking around... he is an artist that has proven he can do everything. And yes, PD, this is the album of the year

As a Shawol, I've been waiting for this one from you! We actually got the VOD for "Another Life" last year during Key's Bad Love Mini Album Release Beyond Live concert! I was beyond excited to see that they included the track on this album because it was a banger and i was so upset when it wasn't released and i couldn't listen to it! I'm glad you loved the Album! My favorites are Delight and Another Life for sure!

i am absolutely in love with key’s discography and this album, easily one of my favorites from this year. literally the first time i listened to this album, it was like 11 o’clock at night in my earphones and by the time i got to another life (which broke my brain) i was literally exhausted by how phenomenal his music continues to be. my favs are definitely another life, i can’t sleep and delight (villian’s also up there). thank you for your reaction pd, i always love watching them, especially for ones i’m really exited about and want to hear your thoughts on!

Thank you for the listening party. Key contributed lyrics to four songs on the album. I love the whole album, and so far I listen to it all the way through. My favorites are Bound, Burn, I can’t Sleep, and Proud. I really like that he raps, sings in his low register, and sings fully (he has a loud piercing voice) so nice to hear. We do appreciate him and his artistry. He reveals himself more and more with each release.

I knew Another Life would be your favorite. :) thank you PD — thank you, thank you. I’d love to hear you discover some more shinee b-sides someday; key raps a lot in those, particularly the early ones. He’s taken on more of a lead vocalist role since Jonghyun’s passing, but still slays in vocals, rap and dance. :)

I shouldn't in good conscience declare my AOTY when I still have my eye on a bunch of comebacks in the next couple of months, but this album is ridiculous, so yeah it's AOTY. Key's Bad Love + Gasoline and ONEW's DICE have really made me realize that post-enlistment SHINEe are not here to fuck around (I'm almost scared to see what Taemin will put out when he's back on stage). I honestly can't pick a favorite, they're all so good. Another Life, I Can't Sleep and Guilty Pleasure are my Top 3 in terms of most replayed, though. I do think that all the members are severely underrated as soloists, and it boggles my mind. Fun little note: Key actually considered including Another Life in the Bad Love album, but ended up deciding against it and re-recorded it for this one. I think it was the right choice because it seems to fit so much better in this one thematically.

Definitely if not thee album of the year, it's going to be up there. Honestly I think out of everything to do with this comeback (album packaging, photoshoots, vision, all the live stages, costuming, etc) the MV was the least interesting! I can see his vision but I think it was just too huge an idea on whatever budget they gave him. Once you watch the live stages and see his costuming and set decorations, his b-side stages - his artistry is insane. He did stages with Jeno for Villain, as well as Bound and they're so cool. Another Life is also my favorite song on the album but he's had it for more than a year! It almost went onto his Bad Love space themed EP but he decided to keep it for this album instead. He did a VOD for it for his concert last year and I have been impatiently waiting for him to put it up on YouTube - thankfully he dropped it onto YouTube a few weeks ago. If you loved the album you have to check out the live stages and the VOD, Key is just so insanely talented and creative.

Watching these with you is always a joy because you get so invested in the albums and all the stuff that goes into their production! He already said he has something in mind for the repackage so we'll definitely be getting it which is exciting! Key really is starting to push his boundaries more and more especially in the creative department with his concepts and creative direction, including his music. I can see him growing as a soloist and being more recognized for this and it really makes me happy. As a big Shinee fan I want them all to be able to thrive in their solo careers as well. Taemin is very well known at this point and I'd love for the others to get to catch up. I think as an artist/designer myself I always appreciate Key's incredible dedication to his artistry, he always has a super clear vision for what he wants and does whatever it takes it execute it with what he's given. He did a 4 part series on the shinee youtube channel called "inside the gasoline" about the different types of production that went into Gasoline. It was well edited, showed multiple perspectives of him and the people working with him, and tons of neat insights and behind the scenes footage. I think his strongest charm to me is that he knows what he wants and he knows what his fans want and does it no matter what. In terms of favorites, Burn is probably my top fav because of the soaring vocals and cool instrumentals. I've also really gotten fond of G.O.A.T after a good few listens, the beat and lyrics are really comforting to me. Bound is a really cool song and we almost never hear him sing in that register so it was super cool! Another Life I heard last year for his Bad Love online concert but it's still just as great now ahah! Guilty Pleasure has that great synth sound that I love. And finally, Ain't Gonna Dance has such a crazy switch up/beat drop that it always is fun to listen to.

just little anecdotes about the bsides :> adding while watching, just to share mini thoughts as someone who follows key and the fandom very closely gasoline - key actually helped "compose" this informally! he sat down with the composers and sort of made the song from scratch, just humming melodies, describing the sounds and mimicking instruments he wanted. very cool! bound - the guy who worked on this worked on Rina Sawayama's Comme des Garcons (its crazy cause ive been begging for a key x rina collab forever and kibum is even a fan of hers and has dogs named commedes and garcons lmfao) and actually included the same sample he used for Rina's song! It's so cool to listen to Bound and Comme des Garcons side by side and how differently the same sound was used. i was absolutely floored when i first heard bound. same as you, ive never heard him sing like that! i genuinely thought there was a featuring artist for a second! by farrr my favourite in the album its fantastic. he performed it in music shows and the dance has vogueing influence and i fell even more in love <3 villain - to me this definitely sounds like if you make a song based on his image teasers (pls check them out, theyre exactly that campy kitschy old horror naughty playful villain you were describing) guilty pleasure - right of the bat this reminded me of a song from shinee's 1 of 1 album (which might be my favourite album in all of kpop? super stellar and will always be the standard and if you havent listened to it already....) g.o.a.t. - this is very adorable in the context of key. first of all, he's very much a disney person and i felt the whimsicality of disney with the bridge. the instrumentals throughout really reminds me of this album named Plantasia by Mort Garson which key talks about alllll the time as a plant person, and lastly he wrote the lyrics partly thinking of his Father (while a later song 'Proud' is dedicated to his mother). just tiny personal touches of key in this song aint gonna dance - this song is just. absolutely my favourite. i cant explain it i cant go on about it forever. its just that when it starts playing i get almost emotional? and i think how a song makes you feel is enough basis to make it your favourite another life - this was actually released as a vcr song for his concert last year during the release of his bad love mini! i thought it was strange they decided not to include it in that album and left it for this one because i thought the whole bad love comeback thematically suited another life WAY more. bad love is that space-themed album while gasoline is a lot more horror. either way im just glad to have it released because its STELLAR proud - i think its great that he started the album with the powerful gasoline, where the lyrics are almost "cross me if you dare", "im the a-list, im the greatest" that are so confident that some might think its cocky? but then ending with this beautiful beautiful song and these beautiful lyrics that explains "i didnt mean it that way, i just really am happy with what i made of myself". i think it describes key great because as a celebrity, nonfans can find him "sassy" and "cold" when hes really such a gentle and caring type of person the lyrics actually quote his mother's maternity book, her diary entries describing him as a child and over the years he has shared excerpts of the diary and theyre all very precious and wholesome, especially with the "stars follow me" bit

overall note goddd i just wanted to thank you for doing this listening party. key is my ult of ult of ults and i THOUGHT i already appreciated this album to the max, but hearing you listen to it and talk about it and describe how you feel made me realize wow its not just me reaching, it really IS so amazing. because key truly is underappreciated, with shinee having such stellar top-tier soloists, like taemin and jonghyun, and even onew doing "technically better" than him and having better numbers, theres a lot of comparison and key always seems to fall short in other people's eyes. hearing you give him this much love just made me feel so satisfied and almost emotional lol? i'm sorry to hear that you've been having a rough time, and when you talked about it i genuinely started tearing up because it reminded me of when he released his first album and i heard This Life and it became such a big part of who i was at the time and helped me through things. its great to see his artistry move people and him being appreciated. sorry for these longass comments omg i really apologize, but again, THANK YOU <3

gonna add on to other comments and say that key is actually the "lead rapper" of shinee and he raps more in a lot of their older songs :) the lyrics for proud were inspired by his mother's maternity diary where baby key apparently said that a star was following him, which is cute. and he wrote lyrics for 4 of the songs--proud, goat, gasoline, and I can't sleep. thank you for listening and appreciating him so much. I feel like key fills a very specific niche in kpop that he clearly loves and thrives in. he has such a creative, whimsical, and unique mind and his music feels like a wink to the listener in a way? like, "I see you, you see me, we understand each other". the people who get it get it. and it's just so inspiring to see him be unapologetically himself in his weird, bright, loud way. if you get the chance (even on your own time!) I would recommend live stages--they're honestly all so good but I love Bound purely for the choreo (he vogues! and it's amazing!)

This has to be my favorite album this year (so far). I HAVE ASCENDED listening to Another Life. I'm not the same person anymore after listening to this album. Thank you for reacting to this beautiful gem, PD!! Key is so underrated and under the radar it's really a crime. I swear he has everything to be a global super star

It's such a great album, and gets better on each listen. Another Life, I can't sleep, Bound, Ain't gonna dance, and then put the rest of them in a bunch are my favs. Definitely keeping this man on my automatic " must listen to full album list"

Haven’t made it all the way through the listening party yet but I just wanted to say you should watch the SMFLOOR dance practice and the live stage for Villain!! I love the choreo and that song has to be one of my favourite bsides I’ve ever heard. So good but I expected nothing less from Key!

Omg, listening to Villain gave me the exact same thoughts of KEY playing a Disney Villain in a Live-Action Disney movie or musical. Espacially in a fashion setting. It's really such an amazing album and I love every track but my favorites are: Another Life, Gasoline, Bound, I can't sleep, Villain, Burn and Delight.

PD if you're interested in checking out the behind of how the Album and the MV were made, I can recommend the 'Inside the Gasoline' Videos on SHINee's youtube account because KEY was so involved in everything. He actually said there that he wanted CGI for every scene but the budget prevented it. So you're were probably spot on that they needed a bit more money to make the MV look more epic. I can also recommend the dance practice on the SMP account. It really showcases how great KEY and his dancers perform.

Another life is going as one of my fav song of all time I was so speechless for my first listen. Also you can check on your own time Key dropped a "mv" for Another Life. Key is truly amazing it's easily aoty for me

I Cant Sleep is my favorite song! Honestly this is my AOTY! However its tied with JaeJoongs Born Gene which also just came out and hes my ult ult favorite artist of all time so he has to be number one for me! BUT.....Keys album is so freaking I credible and chilling it also has to be number one and Im okay with both being tied! JaeJoongs album is very emotional for me on so many levels since he's my ult and hasn't had an album or music in almost 5 years. But I've loved both JJ and Key since I first got into kpop 11 years ago DBSK and SHINee were the first groups I listened too. Im so proud of Key for how far hes come and how hard hes worked to be able to do whatever he wants and he deserves the world! He is incredible! I wish every artist has a chance to just make their music how they want and bring their visions to life. I love it so much!! I love how one album can make us feel so many different things and especially be healing in many ways. This is why music and art are one of the most important things we can have in life.

I like the whole album a lot, but Guilty Pleasure is where my interest really sparks. I think I have a definite preference for Key's brighter sounding songs, which is why 1. Delight & ICS are my favorites on this album, 2. this album doesn't top FACE/IWB for me, and 3. IWB is still my favorite song of his to date (& fave Kpop choreo, period). You would not be able to keep me away if Key had a concert within like, a 5 state radius of me. I'm glad PD loved it! And I second the recommendation to check out Key's Inside the Gasoline videos to see the whole process from recording to album design planning to the jacket shoots to planning & shooting the MV to see just how detailed and visionary he is. I mean, he planned some of the CAMERA ANGLES for the MV & PD would adore it.

Thank you, i'm not a shawon, shinee's fan but i wasn't to Gasoline in 1rst time but Key released a mv and dance mv for Another life and i fall in love with this song, i'm so glad you pick as your favorite because it's my favorite song of the album! Gasoline album is for instant his best full album for me and best full album of this year with so much various song in this album that surprised me! In 2nd best full album, i want you to listen to Bare&rare album of Chungha, the most various full album too! then 3rd J-hope full album. I'm more in girlsband, in boysband i like only stray kids, Onewe and i prefer male to do a solo carreer, i prefer male solo artist like Woodz, Wonho then Key is my favorite solo artist in Shinee! Taemin for me is so overrated, he is a really good dancer but he hasn't a voice like Key. Key can do high note with high-pitched voice but i love his low voice, he sounds so sexy! He is also a really good dancer, he can also rap and do various songs!And others members of Shinee like Taemine or Onew can't do that! That's what i love, various songs and surprised songs!

Bounds reminds me of sexy dark worlf on Eyes on you by Wonho and Villain, the mhmm part is like Crazy of Wonho, so sexy that i can't handle it! Another life i'm surprised he sings totally in english but i love it so much, i wonder what it would be in korean but Another life could be the title track if it was in korean but Almost life could be included for his english album if you would do that! And i saw the dance of Another life, the dance is so good! For Gasoline, the intro, i have the feeling i heard this intro before, it reminds me of Ateez songs but Another life would be a catchy song as title with different vibe. I was so shocked he can rap too in Bound like you, when you asked for it, i was like, wait until the end ^^

My ranking is: 1) Another life my favorite song, 2) Burn i sing a lot burn, 3) Proud, it surprised me, love his rap, his singing, it's a hip hop song but beautiful song too and my hymn when i am pround of myself and i will to tell anybody of it! 4) Bound so creepy sexy like Eyes on you, 5) Villain but i will listen to my hearphone and i will laugh with his sexy mhmm for no nobody will hear this sexy song and will look at me haha. 6) Gasoline, 7) G.O.A.T i will listen it before sleeping so beautiful! 8) I can't sleep but i won't listen before sleeping, i will listen when i want a chill energetic song

that groks in the keyland quote is one of my favorite quotes of all time, fr. like, to the extent that if I ever got a tattoo I would seriously consider it as an option. PD phrased it really well that while key has his moments of being flamboyant and in-your-face, he also has a certain subtlety, cheekiness, and playfulness to his music. and I love how he can explore so many themes like love, sexuality/sensuality (PD got it spot on when they said he can sing songs that aren't necessarily "sexy" in a way that makes it sexy!) and concepts like growth/getting older/finding yourself in a way that is both so clearly specific to his own experiences and yet also very relatable. I love what you said about him fostering a creative and accepting space, the fondness he feels for his fans is so tangible and it just makes me feel so privileged to experience him as a person and an artist :,)

The album is just so satisfying, the whole experience including the album packaging (in which key always delivers) is phenomenal. For me my favourite is guilty pleasure and burn but all the songs are amazing. I'm having this album as my AOTY because honestly it's very very difficult for another artist to top this one, Key is just very passionate on his music and it makes me so mad that he's so underrated as a soloist while being so famous with the general public. Let's hope he gets the recognition he truly deserves someday.
