Thanks, PD! I always enjoy your insights and comments the most which is why I like watching your videos and have become one of your fans. ☺️💜

I love this episode so much, it's so cute! I also wanted to say Hoshi has met Hoseok before, they'd interacted a lot on IG but when Hoshi got back from one leg of Be The Sun last year he went to doctor cause something happened to his eye, he went to a store after since it was next door and met Hoseok there 😂 Hoshi said hi to him and they talked and they hugged and Hoseok told him to have a healthy promotion (he was aware of how busy they are) and they parted ways. But Hoshi said in that short time his positivity gave him so much encouragement and strength. Hoshi's interactions with BTS have been so lovely :)

From what you’ve said in the video, I’m getting the vibe that you like BTS more individually now, so it’s hard to tell whether you still like them as a whole group. But, whether or not you are still a big fan of them, I’m just glad to see that you still respect them even now. I’ve seen ex-ARMYs who used to like BTS but now talk shit about them or deny their success and efforts. And speaking from some experience, there was a point in my Kpop journey where I started to grow apart from BTS. I was always ashamed to say it because they were the first group I got into and loved when I first started this journey, but rather than denying or acknowledging the level they were on and the skills they had, I was just neutral about it. I think I was a fan of them because in the beginning, I grew apart from liking American music (which is the country I live in) and needed something new. BTS and my introduction to Kpop was that new music experience I was looking for. They were my number one group for some time, but undeniably I still wasn’t able to love them the same as before after some time. However, once I found SEVENTEEN, something changed regarding my mindset towards Kpop and BTS. SEVENTEEN reignited my love for BTS and my respect for them that wasn’t exactly evident before. So now, BTS has become and remained number one for me once again. SEVENTEEN is number two for me, but that doesn’t determine their worth, success, efforts, or my love for them. BTS and SEVENTEEN both have special places in my heart but for different reasons and in different places of my heart. They are equally important and lovable to me. The reason the ranking is like that is because I try not to have more than one group ranked in the same position, and SEVENTEEN came later in my life than BTS. This weird logic I have also applies to the other groups that are ranked on my list of boy groups I love. Each group has their own strengths and weaknesses, and I acknowledge and respect that. And so basically what I’m saying is the ranks are technically irrelevant in terms of how much I love the groups and what I love about them. They mainly exist for the sole purpose of making it more convenient for me and putting into perspective how many groups I love (I’m a multi-Stan so I love so many groups). I hope everything I said somewhat makes sense.

This was a giant word dump and yet—it all made sense. Your logic and explanations are actually similar to mine but BTS is my #3 group in terms of love. What you said about loving the members individually over the group is spot on. I don’t deny their success, but I think they outgrew themselves real quick and put out enough music to keep me satisfied forever. It’s not that I don’t love the group but I have been WAITING for basically EVERYONE’s solos now. I think COVID just hella made it feel longer. I think the last thing that did it was discovering ITS DEFINITELY YOU by V and Jin. I want a solo from every member now so bad. BTS is special that way. I don’t even demand that of SEVENTEEN. I have been studying a lot on what made BTS successful and I think it comes down to this: BTS is a group of superstars. EVERY single member can carry their own weight. They all evolved TOGETHER and all share EQUAL star power and talent. I don’t know if there’s another group on the planet I can say all the members balance out equally but are all still super stars.

You know, I always wondered about your thoughts on BTS when I first started watching you years ago and why you didn’t really acknowledge or address them (on camera) much. I fell down the SVT rabbit hole in 2016 because of BTS and their similarity in passion/drive so it boggles my mind when Carats hate ARMY and vice verse because the stories and feelings are so similar. I love both groups genuinely and I don’t think that will ever change. I had speculated them getting big was part of the reason so it’s nice to hear you talk about it and I totally understand the social anxiety aspect of it. The bigger the group, the bigger the fandom and I know there are some fans that are ridiculous with their actions and hate for asinine reasons. I kind of believe Stray Kids be a little similar in passion/drive too though I think they are…. restricted in a sense. Sometimes it seems like they are walking on eggshells and are just spending their time enjoying what they can (like GOT7 lol). I’ll have to look into ATEEZ now…. Groups like that are hard ti come by. As always, thanks for the insight and frank banter! Enjoy Korea and your continued self love journey!

Oh and another thing too, BSS were on a radio show recently (I've forgotten the name) and Hoshi mentioned after this Suga played a song for him too and talked to him more and also took him out for a meal and Hoshi really learned how warm of a person he is. It's so nice that happened because it really backs up what Suga has said about how he wants his juniors to talk to him, like this probably meant so much to him for him to treat Hoshi to a meal too. I'd love to see Woozi on the show when Seventeen have their next comeback, I think it could be extremely interesting to see them converse.

Since Suga and Hoshi were talking about military service and how it would change the group and dynamics, Bang Si-Hyuk did an interview recently on CNN stating “They can’t remain the BTS of today but need to grow and change as artists”. I think even though BTS knew this, there’s a sense of accepting the reality that they probably will not be the biggest group again and the pressure in sustaining that status has left them with a sense of calm and knowing. P.S. I absolutely knew you were going to say Ateez! They are now the new standard in top performance.

have you reacted to the first one with Namjoon? Can't find it!

Wow.. This was such a great episode. Loved the vibe of this show. PD should check out SEVENTEEN on "THE GOBLIN WHO STEALS WISDOM". It covers a lot of their predebut stories, behind the scenes events and just a side of seventeen that feels soo nostalgic and precoius.

I appreciate your commentary on Seventeen more than anything else! I would literally subscribe to a channel of yours that only dissected seventeen lmao everything you said felt spot on!
