hi PD! jinooya makes actually directed the 2 Baddies MV for NCT 127 and ELEVEN for IVE too. After learning that, I instantly saw some similarities with the Left Right MV

jakops is a former idol i dont remember what was is group, he is half japanese half korean and is the executive producer of XG. He created the XG project from A to Z. You can actually check out his instagram where he kinda documented that since 2016-17. The girls and him are super close because he chose the lineup (XG girls+Hikaru that will be joining) back in 2017 (that's what i read) and trained them until 2022 to debut. They actually anounced that they have been professionaly filming the whole process (training, producing,...) for the past 5 years and that a documentary will be out very very soon (we suspect on their one year anniversary that is on the 18th but take that wit a grain of salt). From what we have seen so far, Jakops created the label for XG only and is treating them super good, the girls always mention him, you can see on his instagram they re friends and they hang out together which is super refreshing. Feels like a basketball team and their coach. Gotta be close to make it work :)))

one thing i’m surprised you didn’t notice about the shots or maybe just didn’t mention. but they managed to capture the essence of the 90s-2000s r&b videos with the same type of shots/concept. those high and low angled shots while still have a purpose to show power like you said, also are STAPLES in our music. Think of music videos like TLC ‘ No Scrub’, Destinys Child I believe it was ‘Bills, Bills, Bills,’ or ‘ Say my Name’, and Michael & Janet Jackson’s scream etc (I know there’s plenty more). But using those shots + this chromatic, vintage space theme was really homage to the black music they’re using to capitalize on for these girls.

I loved this reaction of yours! One of my favorites to date. I love XG and I did like the song, but your breakdown for it makes me love it more. Thank you for such a detailed breakdown of this. It makes me appreciate the videos so much more all the little details and the work that went into it. Love it! Kpop videos really are setting the new standard and I feel like over the last few months they keep raising the bar more and more. Like you, I thought Shooting Star was fantastic, then I saw Left Right and *mind blown* but the Cypher...oh my days....next level.

If you have the time, XG released Xrtra XG #11 (I believe) where they are recording lines for 'Shooting Star', it was really helpful to learn the names of the members and also to check out their vocals. But to address your impressions from this video, I think your first favorite is Jurin - she also started the first part of Shooting Star. Second favorite is Chisa who the choppy framing bangs and 2nd line. The "girl with charisma" is Maya who has red hair in this video and the highlighter twintails in Shooting Star. Juria is the vocalist who got cool transitions.
