cole is one of the biggest and best rappers to come out of the newer rap games! i’m sure you know from dezzy but cole is known for his intellectual rapping and story telling, he has a very old school style of rapping that he mixes in with new style beats. he’s known to be one of the few rappers who have a college degree and is actually in his way to retirement. I recomend 2014 Forest Hill Drive as a good introduction to him as it’s his best acclaimed album then just start from the beginning. But to note JCOLE is the reason for most of the persona of JHOPe. from the phonetics of his name all the way down to Jhopes on story telling and rapping. He said that when he first started listening to music, Cole was the first person he’d ever listened too and he told cole himself that it was around 15 years old!

It’s crazy coles been doing this for so long and he never runs out of new things to talk about and him talking about retirement but can’t let it go hit’s different

Irieezy.

Cole and Kendrick are my favorite rappers so definitely check out his music! Start with 2014 forest hills drive as the comment above mentioned, he's just a beast he makes his own beats and talks about real life everyday struggles, every time I listen to this song I tear up. Two worlds coming together is such a beautiful thing. But let dezzy put you on to more Cole!

I LOVED J.Cole's vocals in the last part! His verse was fire, but the singing took me out because I wasn't expecting it :')

the symbolism of Hobi dancing in the underground while J Cole raps - just like he used to do when he started dancing - and then meeting Cole on "the top of the world" in the end always gets me

I really love this MV vibe is so careless as you said BUT also detail as fuck and the creativity is so crazy
