Downstairs, on the couch, Tohka lowered her head onto Shido’s shoulder with a sigh.
It had been a strange day, but if this was the way it was going to end, she couldn’t complain about it – there was nothing better than getting to spend some more alone time with Shido.
Squeezing his arm, she pulled herself even closer to him, nuzzling her face into his neck. He smelled of sweat and cotton and odourless deodorant, and no matter how much she sniffed it, she just couldn’t get enough. Resting her head on his shoulder, she sighed – she wished she could sit here forever with him.
The TV screen flashed with an old black & white movie. She closed her eyes and exhaled a long breath.
“It’s been a long time since Origami and Kotori went upstairs,” said Shido. “You don’t think they’ve gone to bed already, do you?”
Tohka’s eyes snapped open. Now that she thought about it, it had been a long time since the two of them had gone upstairs. And it would be strange of them to go to bed so early.
Her heart jumped. Now that she really thought about it, it was strange that none of the other Spirits had returned as well. Had something happened to them? Was another Spirit preying on them? Or what if it was a side effect of her wish? But why? She didn’t see how her wish could cause anything like that. If anything, it should keep them all together!
“Tohka?” said Shido. “Are you okay?”
She snapped upright. “S-sorry, I was just thinking.” She pushed herself off the couch. “You stay here – I’ll go see what Kotori and Origami are up to. I’m sure they’re okay.”
Shido smiled; she almost melted. “Okay. Don’t take too long, or you’ll miss the movie!”
Blushing, she hurried out of the room and upstairs before her heart could fail her. At the top of the stairs, however, she came to an abrupt stop, counting the doors and wondering whether it was her eyes she needed checking. Hadn’t there been more rooms?
She chewed her lip. Was this another side-effect of her wish? But why would it get rid of all the other bedrooms? Unless–
She gasped.
H-her wish… It wasn’t going to make them all sleep in the same bed, was it? Covering her face, she squealed, steam practically hissing from her ears. Perhaps that was where the other Spirits had gone. Perhaps they were all waiting for Shido in their sexiest nightwear.
Redder than ever, she rushed for the bedroom door. She had to see! She had to see for herself!
Grabbing the handle, she flung the door open, threw herself inside–
–and froze, staring in surprise. Not only were there no Spirits, but there wasn’t even a bed. After all the other missing furniture had returned, she’d assumed this one would as well – what was she supposed to sleep on?! She approached the spot where it should stand and stared at it, her arms on her hips.
This was getting ridiculous. So her wish had cleaned and renovated the whole house, replacing the floorboards and the wallpaper and the curtains and the sofa. Even the sink! Even the kitchen sink!
But it still hadn’t replaced her missing bed?!
As she opened her mouth to groan in frustration, her instincts flared. She whirled around, expecting an attack from behind, but to her surprise, there was no-one there. She turned back, scanning the room, but as far as she could tell, the room was completely empty. The only sign anyone had even entered was the open window, but that was probably just one of the other Spirits being careless.
Her eyes slid to the bedside cabinet and the dark red alarm clock sitting atop it. 11:46 PM, read the screen, half in red and half in yellow.
(D-don’t just stare at me! Do something!)
Putting this oddity out of mind, she turned back to the bed, or rather its absence. The room needed a bed – it wouldn’t be complete without one. A big, queen-sized bed, perfect for Shido and the Spirit of his choice (her, of course) to sleep in.
She could picture it now: the dark wood frame, the purple sheets. The pillows (big, but not too big). Standing there, picturing it in her head, she could practically feel herself sinking into the mattress. It was heavenly.
With a sigh of bliss, she stepped into the very center of its spot, lowered herself to the ground, and took a place on the floor. On all fours, on her back, her hips raised and her head aimed at the ceiling. Perfect, she thought, staring at the ceiling. Perfect.
She blinked. Wait. What was she even doing? Frowning, she looked around and, realizing what she was doing, struggled to stop doing it. Unfortunately, she couldn’t. “H-hey!” She wriggled, trying to wrenched her hands and her feet from the floor, but they might as well have been superglued to it – no matter how hard she struggled, they refused to part. “L-let go!”
Her heart pounded; she looked around, panting for breath. What was going on? What was happening to her? Why couldn’t she move?
A terrible thought occurred to her: was this something to do with her wish? “Nnn~! Lemme go…! Lemme– Sh-Shido! Shido, help mnnnNNNNNAH!”
Her cries for help turned to cries of pleasure as a pair of giant tweezers seized the sides of her head and stretched it tall and wide. At the same time, invisible chains grabbed her shoulders and her legs, and as she wailed in ecstasy, drew her like a victim on the rack. Tohka screamed as she stretched, pleading and begging for it to end. “NNNNNN~! AH! AH!”
By the time they stopped pulling, she was double her own height and three times her old width, and her head had been drawn as taut as a piece of taffy, leaving her face splayed across its shivering surface. “Nn~! Ah! Sh-Shi–!”
A hose slammed into her mouth and butthole and her vagina and every other hole in her body, no matter how small. With a pump of an invisible plunger, fat bulges of air swam down the lines and entered her, making her belly bulge, skin creaking with its contents.
And it wasn’t just her belly. As the magic affecting her pumped on, other parts of her started to swell as well: her bodice creaked as her boobs inflated, her bra straps fighting desperately to restrain them, while her thighs thickened till they were plump as a pair of sausages. Swelling and swelling, they reached a limit and suddenly stopped again, crushed against it as if against an invisible wall.
Not all of her bloated like this: her head thickened a little, regaining some of its depth. But her arms and her lower legs and her back remained unaffected. Her buttcheeks might have flattened out a little, even. Instead of swelling, they tightened, hardening; she could practically feel their cells being squeezed closer together – with every second, it became a little harder to speak.
Trembling, her knees sprouted two thin towers of flesh, which rose and spread sideways, merging into a single thick wall, just like her stretched head.
Her clothes rippled and flexed, and like a liquid flowed into a puddle atop her form, assuming the deep purple of her Astral Dress as they did. Spreading, it covered her, covered her soft, bloated, cuboid new body, and while two portions split off and wrapped around her breasts, making her squeal as they squeezed with pleasurable tightness.
As they fluffed themselves into fullness, realization struck her: pillows. Her boobs had turned into a pair of plump pillows. And if her boobs had become pillows, that meant–
In a single shattering instant, all the implications of her wish collapsed on her: a bed, she was turning into a bed. That was what her wish was doing. That was where the other Spirits had gone. That was how it was going to make the perfect house for them: by turning them into the perfect furniture that filled it! No! No! Nonono!
Pumped as far as it would go and squished into a block for her good measure, the skin of her swollen gut turned a pure white and softer than ever. As she screamed inside, the tension in her core grew unbearable – she felt as if there were a hundred springs inside just waiting to be released.
Meanwhile, the tightening of her back and her face and her limbs became a kind of tingling, electric, and with a crackle like breaking ice, their skin hardened into a deep brown wood. Speech, already difficult, became completely impossible as her lips faded into the whorl. Her eyes followed only a second later, but she retained the power to see even as they shook in shock. Sh-Shido! Shido, help me!
Lying there on her back, her arms and legs straining to support her new weight yet unable to bend, unable to let go, Tohka squealed inside. This can’t be happening! This can’t be happening! I don’t want to be a bed! I wanted to sleep in one with Shido! N-not to be one! Ren! Ren! Turn me back you stupid genie! Reeeeeeen!
A playful breeze blew through the open window.

Shido woke to the blare of an advertisement.
Sitting up, he stretched and yawned, making the couch springs squeak as he moved. What time was it? How long had he been asleep?
Grabbing the remote, he flicked off the TV and strolled into the living room, where he snatched the glass from the counter and poured himself some water. As he downed it, he returned absently to the living room, where he sipped from his drink as he nudged the new beanbag with his foot.
Stomach rumbling, he returned to the kitchen, grabbed a bowl of cereal, and plopped himself in a chair at the table. As he ate, he had the strangest feeling he could hear Natsumi shouting at him, but when he paused and cocked his head, he shrugged and resumed eating. It wasn’t until he finished that he realized how odd it was for the Spirits to let him fall asleep on the couch in the first place.
Dumping his bowl in the sink, he thought of Yoshino – normally she’d never miss an opportunity to snuggle up with him. Now that he thought about it, he’d never actually seen her or the other missing Spirits arrive home. Had they come in while he was asleep, or were they still out there… partying or whatever it was they were doing? He should really call them and check.
This decided, he went to check upstairs first, just in case they were already home and sleeping. Reaching the landing, he paused, rubbing his eyes and squinting. Hadn’t there been more rooms earlier? …He really needed to sleep – his mind was playing tricks on him.
Checking the study and the bathroom, he arrived at last at what must, by process of elimination, be the bedroom. Entering, he froze. His mind must really be playing tricks on him.
Before him lay a luxurious bedroom with a richly-carpeted floor, fresh wallpaper, and an elaborate black mirror with blue trim in the corner – the kind of room you’d expect to find in a five-star hotel. But the most impressive part by far was the titular bed: a grand, purple-covered queen-sized with a dark wood frame and plump pillows. He could already imagine how good it would feel to sink into it.
The one thing he didn’t see was Spirits. So where were they? Had they all gone out without telling him? But why? He really needed to call someone and find out. Them or Ratatoskr or something, or…
(Sh-Shido!)
Closing the window, he returned to the bedside cabinet and turned off the lamp. As he did, he caught sight of the time on the alarm clock. 03:31AM. Ugh, he should have just stayed sleeping on the couch.
He stood there for a second, rubbing his head and yawning, barely able to stand. He should really do something about the missing Spirits…
(Please, you have to help us!)
On the other hand… He was just so tired… They could take care of themselves, right? And besides, it wasn’t likely anything had happened to them anyway – they were probably just out having fun. Even if they weren’t, Ratatoskr would be monitoring them and would call him if they needed him, soooo…
(Sh-Shido? What are you–?!)
He dropped onto the bed and buried his face in its big, beautiful pillows. Ahhhhh~. It didn’t feel like his normal bed, and it definitely didn’t smell like it – in fact, it smelled more like Tohka – but it would do.
(Nnnnn~! Ah! Ah! Shido…! Nn!)
Throwing off his uniform, he stripped down to his underwear and slithered under the covers. Nestling his head between the pillows, he pulled the sheets up to his neck, lay back, and closed his eyes with a sigh of comfort.
(Nnnnnn~ Ah! Sh-Shido, please, you have to–! Nnnnnnnnah! Ah! Ah! Ooooooh!)
He’d work out what to do about the Spirits in the morning…
