Chapter 7: Classes Begin

Hearing my name, I nonchalantly stepped forward and sat on the stool with the sorting hat resting on my head not long after.

I relaxed, confident in my defenses being able to block anything I didn’t want known to the hat. Then I felt a slight nudge, almost as if asking for permission to read my mind and I let them in curious about what it would see with all my defenses in place.

“Hmm,” I heard a voice in my ear. “It is surprising to find someone with such strong natural mental defenses nowadays, especially on someone so young. You have a great gift young one but alas we’re here to sort you. Now let’s see. Difficult. Very difficult. It seems the only trait you are lacking in is loyalty no doubt brought about thanks to your upbringing.” I stayed silent not acknowledging what that meant for me now that I was a Contractor under the Company.

“You have more than enough courage to make Gryffindor proud and a keen mind rivaling that of Rowena. Even Slytherin himself would be in awe of your cunning and resourcefulness. Hmm.” The hat then went silent as if contemplating his decision.

I closed my eyes and thought about my choices.

Slytherin was an instant no.

I would probably not last a week there before stamping and selling the majority of the house with all the assholes that occupied it. Gryffindor would be ideal as it would let me get involved in all the major events happening in the world by already becoming good friends with Harry, Ron and Rose.

However, it would be the hardest due to the same reason as I would probably be monitored by Dumbledore and his allies and Voldemort and his allies for being the ‘Chosen One’s friend. It would also be difficult to explain my disappearances to the trio when I eventually started exploring the surroundings around Hogwarts.

Ravenclaw was the most appealing as it would leave me with plenty of time to explore and do as I wish with minimum supervision. Being friends with the trio, or quartet now, would also make sure I would be involved in the events surrounding Harry. Not to mention the dorms were the coolest in my opinion if they were anything like the Hogwarts Legacy game I managed to play once.

‘Yeah, Ravenclaw sounds the best for me.’

“I’d like to go to Ravenclaw please.” I requested the hat in my mind.

“I see you came to a decision. Very well – better be RAVENCLAW!” The sorting hat shouted at the end and cheers followed it shortly after.

Calmly removing the hat from my head, I put it back on the stool and calmly walked towards the Ravenclaw table shooting a smile and a wave to Ron, Harry and Rose who were clapping along with the Ravens. I shook the hands of a few people as I came to the table and sat down.

The hall quieted down again and the sorting proceeded as normal.

I made sure to clap and cheer with the rest of the table when somebody else was sorted into Ravenclaw shaking the hands of Terry Boot, Mandy Brocklehurst, Michael Corner, Anthony Goldstenin, Sue Li, Morag McDougal and Padma Patil before Harry’s name was finally called.

With all the excitement happening at the time nobody even felt when I stamped them.

Like in canon everyone became dead silent when Harry’s name was called and waited in anticipation of where he’d be sorted. Unlike canon however, it only took a few seconds for the hat to call out Gryffindor making the Gryffindor table explode in cheers and applause.

Harry went and took a seat shooting me a thankful nod as he did before everyone crowded around him and started congratulating him.

“Potter, Rose!”

Like with Harry whispers broke out again with some looking at her in confusion at the fact that Harry had a sister. Going by the whispers around me, Rose probably went mostly unnoticed under the shadow of her famous brother.

I saw as Rose nervously walked toward the stool before stopping in front of it and looking in the direction of the Gryffindor table. I saw her look briefly at Harry for a moment before looking at me.

In response I just smiled at her and mouthed the words ‘relax’ receiving a shaky smile in return. Then taking a deep breath she finally sat down in the stool and seconds later a resounding ‘Ravenclaw’ was heard.

With a big smile on her face Rose put down the hat before running in my direction amidst cheers and applause. Similar to her brother she was swamped with handshakes and shoulder pats before she finally sat down on my right side.

Rose then turned in my direction and gave me a big hug with a small squeal escaping her mouth. I chuckled and hugged her back for a moment before pulling back and giving her a smile in return.

“Never had any doubt.” I said quietly, making her grin back in response.

“I’m so relieved we’re in the same house. I thought I would be sent to Hufflepuff and be all alone there.” said Rose with a happy smile.

“To be honest I thought I would be the only one sorted into Ravenclaw with you and Ron joining your brother.” I admitted freely, still surprised at Rose joining me here.

Then again like Padma and Parvati proved, just because you’re twins it doesn’t mean you’ll be sorted into the same house.

“Well, now you won’t have to be alone anymore.” Rose said with a happy nod.

Minutes later the Sorting Ceremony finally ended with the sorting of Blaise Zabini into Slytherin with no more changes from what I remembered.

With the sorting done Dumbledore stood up and said a bunch of nonsense before food appeared on the table. Looking around I grimaced a bit at all the fatty foods I saw, having become accustomed to healthy meals over the years thanks to the new ‘me’.

‘Guess this means Ilulu is still working arrangements with the other elves.’

“What’s the matter Aether? Are you not hungry?” asked Rose to my side with her plate already filled to the brim with different foods.

“It’s not that.” I shook my head and grabbed some of the few fruits and vegetables I saw. “I’m just not used to eating such heavy foods for dinner.”

“Oh, that’s right! You’re not originally from the U.K. so you’re probably not used to our food yet.” said Rose in realization while eating some roast chicken.

“It’s alright. I’ll just have to find the kitchens and ask the elves if they can make something else for me next time. Shouldn’t be too hard to find.” I waved her worries away and continued eating.

“Ooh, can I come too? I want to see the house elves.” asked Rose with an excited look on her face.

“Sure, no problem.” I said with a smile.

Desert came after the main meal and while I was not hungry anymore, I still piled some of everything into my plate to give to Maya later. Luckily no one noticed when I sneaked a bunch of food into my inventory probably thinking I was just another greedy kid.

After that, dinner finally came to an end and with it my ears were introduced to the most jarring and nails on a chalkboard aberration that they dared to call the school song.

‘What the hell was even that?’ I thought rubbing my forehead in slight pain with Rose doing the same to my side.

With some parting words about staying out of the Forbidden Forest and staying clear of the third-floor corridor we finally parted to the Ravenclaw dorm. On the way there I noticed much to my joy that Hogwarts looked just like it did in the Hogwarts Legacy game, only looking a bit older obviously.

I couldn’t wait to start exploring the castle to find out if all the hidden locations that I knew about were still currently present.

After climbing what seemed like thousands of steps, we finally came upon a door with a statue of a Raven guarding it who came alive when we got near it and asked us a riddle. After the Prefect gave the answer and explained how it worked, the raven folded its wings and the door swung open revealing a huge statue of a raven with its wings extended with two sets of stairs to the side leading upwards towards the common room.

‘Yep, in my opinion Ravenclaw has the best dorm.’ I thought in awe seeing the beautiful dorm in all its splendor.

There were arched windows set into the walls of our circular common room that looked down at the school grounds giving us the greatest view of all the houses in my opinion. The room was decorated with a nice blend of blues, whites and bronze that gave it a majestic look.

“Wooow, it's so huge and pretty.” Rose agreed too, going by her awed looks.

“I would go with cool instead but I understand what you mean.” I whispered in return.

Entering the common room, we were instructed to our dorm rooms and after promising to meet in the morning we finally headed to bed. Everyone was already looking dead on their feet when we reached the first-year dorm and headed straight to their respective bed after some half-hearted goodnights.

Making sure to close the curtains around my bed, I waited around half an hour to make sure everyone was already asleep before sitting up in my bed and opening my Menu or Hud that I received from Satou’s Template. Then scrolling until I found what I wanted, I finally activated my Search Entire Map power and smiled when a 3D image of all of Hogwarts appeared before me.

“Psst, Maya.” I quietly whispered down into my pocket a couple of times before I felt a small snake crawl out of my pocket and into my bed before its form shifted revealing Maya.

“Mmn that was a good nap ‘yawn’. I trust that we arrived Master?” Maya asked, letting out a small yawn and stretching her hands backwards bringing an emphasis on her breasts which my attention immediately shifted into.

“Yeah, I put some food in our shared Pocket Space if you’re hungry.” I whispered back, finally tearing my gaze away from her breasts making Maya frown a bit when she noticed that.

“Nah, I’d rather we just cuddle in bed and go back to sleep.” Maya said letting out another yawn as she did so. “We have a big day ahead of us if I remember right?”

“That’s fine and yes we do. We have to find the Room of Requirement, find if the Vivarium is still functional, sneak the girls into Hogwarts and attend classes.” I said with a nod recalling the most important things.

“Yep, that sounds like a long day so let’s just take tonight off since we are going to be busy the following week.” Maya said and before waiting for my response pulled me into her side and cuddled into me falling asleep almost immediately.

‘This girl, seriously.’ I thought shaking my head fondly but nonetheless let my mind rest and found myself joining her in seconds.

(Next Day)

Waking up the next morning a bit earlier than everyone, I bid Maya goodbye with a kiss and watched as she transformed into a ginger cat before scurrying away no doubt to explore the castle.

Then after getting a shower and getting ready for the day I finally made my way to the common room where I found Rose already waiting for me.

“Morning, Rose.”

“Good morning, Aether~ Ready to go?” Rose saluted me with a smile on her face showing that unlike her brother, she was a morning person.

“Excited huh?” I asked with a teasing smile but nonetheless led the way out of the common room with Rose falling into step with me.

“I mean who wouldn’t? We are about to learn actual Magic!” Rose declared with excitement.

“Hahaha we sure are.” I said with a small laugh her excitement rubbing off on me.

Before too long we were back at the great hall again which was already packed with other students already eating. It helped that I had my Hud open in the corner of my vision of a 3D map of Hogwarts showing every nook and cranny of the castle as well as every person.

“Wow, I can’t believe you remembered the way to the great hall. I was so tired yesterday I didn’t even notice which way we went after dinner.” Rose said in a surprised tone.

“I have a good sense of direction.” I said simply with a shrug. ‘That and a map of Hogwarts.’

Finding a seat, we sat down and greeted a few others who were already around the table. Then looking at the food available for breakfast I frowned a bit again at seeing all the heavy things spread out before blinking as a new plate appeared in front of me with some of my favorites.

‘Nice, seems Ilulu managed to convince the Hogwarts house elves to let her cook for me.’ I thought in satisfaction.

A little later Professor Flitwick came and passed out our timetables while also greeting us and introducing himself as the head of Ravenclaw house.

“Hmm Free Period and then Defense Against the Dark Arts followed by Charms and Magical Theory huh? Not a bad start for the first day.” I muttered looking down at my schedule for the year.

“Come on! We better leave now if we want to make it to class in time in this labyrinth of a castle.” Rose suddenly grabbed me by the hand and pulled me out of the great hall.

(Same Day After Classes)

‘Finally, alone.’ I thought in relief, currently making my way to the seventh floor after leaving Rose back in the great hall to spend some time with her brother.

Classes had been kind of boring to be honest since it was only the first lesson so we didn’t get to really learn any new magic today. The worst was having to deal with Quirrelmort and his room that reeked of garlic, not to mention trying to decipher what he was saying with all his stuttering.

Reaching the left-hand corridor on the seventh floor, I finally found the tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy trying to teach trolls ballet and came to a stop. Then checking my hud to make sure there was nobody coming, I paced around the hall 3 times only stopping when I saw a door appear on the opposite side of the tapestry.

‘Moment of truth.’ I thought in anticipation and headed inside being met with the same room from the Hogwarts Legacy game making me smile in excitement.

It took me a few minutes to explore the room in its totality but I was happy to say that the room did indeed have 4 vivariums for me to use. The room also provided me with a space to practice my magic and a space to practice making potions along with a few planters.

All in all, the room had been a great success.

“I should let Maya know she can come here to rest if she ever needs it.” I muttered to myself before walking out of the room letting it reset and thinking of another place I needed with the room responding to my wishes a moment later.

I went inside again, this time to the Room of Hidden Things, a room full of miscellaneous things and most importantly the place where Ravenclaw’s Diadem was located.

“Hahaha one down, six to go.” I chuckled with a smile on my face especially since one of the missions rewarded me 150 credits for every horcrux I destroyed.
