Chapter 36
(Akari vs Obito)
Looking at the shocked form of Obito in front of me, I came to the startling revelation that deep down I didn’t really feel anything about the man.
Other than being slightly amused at his reaction, I felt absolutely nothing for the man known as Obito Uchiha. No pity for the man losing his way and taking a dark path. No anger for the role he had played in the Uchiha massacre and no satisfaction at finally getting rid of the man and completing the Nightfall and Uchiha’s Resurgence mission.
To me he was just a means to an end and nothing more.
With that thought in mind, I decided to stop wasting time and appeared in front of him biting him on the shoulder hard enough to draw some of his blood and swallowing before enveloping him in my Shroud.
All of this had happened so fast that Obito didn’t realize what was going on until he was already completely bound by my shroud but by then it was already too late as my attention moved elsewhere.
“Good job girls.” I said to seemingly thin air only for the forms of Velzard and Velgrynd to appear at my sides a second later.
“They were weak.” Came the slightly arrogant voice of Velgrynd as she looked at her bound target floating beside her with a sneer.
Velzard on the other hand only shrugged her shoulders with a smile on her face. “The human girl didn’t want to indulge my curiosity so I decided to end it.”
Nodding at what they said I let my shroud manifest from my back again and had it surround the bound forms of Zetsu and Konan. Then bringing the bound Konan in front of me I had me shroud open up a bit showing pale skin underneath and proceeded to bite her and swallow some of her blood.
Since I wasn’t sure if Black Zetsu even had blood to bleed I would just let the shroud take care of him.
When I was finished, we all focused out attention on Veldora’s fight still hearing laughter and explosions his way which meant he was still playing with his opponent.
The voice of Velzard confirmed my words a moment later as she rolled her eyes. “That stupid brother of ours, always playing with his prey.”
“There shouldn’t be any harm, right? He did say he wanted to try out some new moves he learned recently.” I spoke up in defense of the guy feeling somewhat sorry for him.
“Haah if you say so.” Not wanting to argue with me Velzard backed off.
=====
(Veldora vs Pain)
“Kuwahahaha this is fun! Hadouken! Hadouken! Hadouken! Hadouken! Tetsuzanko!”
“And now for the finisher!”
“Kamehameeee…Ha!”
It was a complete massacre.
The Six Paths of Pain could do nothing against the onslaught of the Storm Dragon other than making sure the Naraka Path remained alive.
Trying to absorb the dragon’s attacks with the Petra Path had proven useless and as a consequence the energy attack had taken out the Petra Path out of the battle by disintegrating him. Next the Asura Path had been next when the dragon had delivered a serious of kicks to it breaking the body into a thousand pieces making impossible to restore. And finally the Human and Animal Path had met their end when they were hit with a huge wave of energy at the end.
The only Paths remaining, the Naraka and Deva, had only been able to do so because the dragon had saved them for last even when the Deva Path tried to attack it with their control over attractive and repulsive forces which hadn’t worked at all against the dragon.
“Seems I have no choice but to go all out.” In a desperate move the Deva Path tried a last gamble clapping their hands together and creating a black sphere between their hands before hurling it into the sky.
“Chibaku Tensei!”
Ignoring the weak attractive force trying to pull him into the sphere in the sky, Veldora let out a victorious laugh. “Kuwahahaha I see! So, you’re finally pulling out your trump card huh? Let me respond in kind and show you something interesting.”
Saying those words, Veldora held out his right hand with his thumb pulled back and his index finger extended in the pose only known as the finger gun and concentrated.
A moment later a huge ball of blue energy formed at the end of his finger and with a giant grin splitting his face, the dragon shouted.
“Rei Gan!”
The effect was glorious, a huge energy beam was released from his finger and headed straight toward the small planetoid in the sky obliterating it in an instant and leaving no trace behind of its existence.
Looking down at his opponent, Veldora saw that they had seemingly run out of chakra as they weren’t doing anything anymore and were just standing there silently looking up at him.
“…What are you?” The Deva path finally muttered in confusion still just standing there as if finally realizing the gap between their powers.
“Huh? Did you ignore me earlier perhaps due to my magnificence?” The dragon asked while scratching his head. “Very well. Listen carefully this time for I will be displeased if I have to repeat myself again. My name is Vel-”
“Veldora, why are you fooling around with this puppet?”
As if a bucket of cold water had been poured down his back, Veldora suddenly froze in place and started nervously sweating while slowly turning to look back at the person who had just interrupted him.
What greeted him was the forms of his two sisters and his sworn brother, the latter who refused to look at him. The thing that worried the dragon the most though was the smiling face of his oldest sister who had her eyes closed and her head slightly tilted to the side.
Instead of her face looking welcoming though, for some reason it only brought terror to the dragon’s heart as if he had seen such a face countless times before in his past and he was traumatized by it.
“…Well? I’m waiting?”
“S-Sorry! I’ll do it right away!” Panicking even more, Veldora didn’t waste a single second longer and opened his mouth releasing a gargantuan wave of destruction at his helpless foes who could only look at the incoming beam of death with a resigned look on their faces.
=====
(Regular POV)
‘Yikes. Yeah…I think I should officially plan out a guy’s only day/week/month in the nearby future if I don’t want Veldora to develop the same trauma he had for his sisters as his original self. There are tons of worlds out there where the dude can just go nuts if he wants to.’
‘Or alternatively I could take him to Akihabara one of these days and watch him go crazy over all the anime/manga/light novels that place sells.’ Mentally patting myself in the back at the great idea I just had, I focused back on the end of the battle seeing the smoke finally dissipate from Veldora’s attack.
As expected, there was nothing left behind in the path of destruction from the dragon’s attack and it was only luck that we were in the outskirts of town so no one else was hurt.
“Great job buddy even if you overdid it a bit.” I congratulated the man with a pat in the back trying to get his mood back up. “I especially liked your Rei Gan.”
That seemed to do the trick as Veldora went from nervously looking away from Velzard to laughing merrily eagerly boasting that it was all thanks to my ‘sacred texts’.
“You’re lucky I managed to save a piece of that human before you’re attack hit or else Akari would have to do more work on reviving that guy and selling him.” Velgrynd suddenly chimed in in slight annoyance holding up the severed arm of the Deva Path before storing it away.
‘Oh yeah. I totally forgot about that.’ I blinked in realization that if Veldora would have erased the body of Yahiko it would have made it slightly more difficult for me to bring him back and possibly selling him later. ‘Oh well, it all worked out in the end I guess thanks to Gryn. And with Satou’s template I only need a part of someone to bring them back.’
“Nice save Gryn. Thanks.” Pulling her to my side with one of my arms I gave the bluenette a kiss on the cheek making her smile and blush at my actions.
“Hihihi no worries Akari~ I was happy to be of help~” The girl muttered happily giving me a smile before a small smirk grew on her face and she looked to the side in Velzard’s direction. “Unlike a certain someone.”
I felt a small chill run down my back at the temperature suddenly dropping a couple of degrees and looked at Velzard nervously.
“Fufufu what was that dear sister~? I think I misheard you?”
The temperature suddenly changed again only this time in the opposite direction. “I said-”
Knowing that if I didn’t stop these two there was a real possibility that Amegakure wouldn’t exist anymore I swallowed my nervousness and stepped in.
“Ahem, not now you two. We still have to deal with the main body remember?”
“Hmph, I guess you’re right. / Haah, fine.”
Letting out a small breath in relief I caught Veldora from the corner of my eye give me a thumbs up for a job well done and only slightly nodded in acknowledgement.
Looking towards the tallest tower in Amegakure my face set itself into a neutral expression. ‘You have nowhere to hide now Nagato.’
A moment later we disappeared as if we were never there and reappeared in front of a pale and sickly red-haired man in a machine.
=====
(Nagato POV)
‘It seems it was a mistake not taking Madara’s words more seriously.’ Out of chakra and knowing it was only a matter of time before his enemies came and finished him off, Nagato could do nothing but reflect on his past failures.
‘I’m sorry Yahiko. Not only was I not able to protect Konan like you wanted me but I also failed at bringing peace to this land and living up to your hopes for me. And now karma has come for me.’
Nagato was pulled from his negative thoughts by the sudden appearance of the 4 intruders he had sensed a while ago, one of them being Akari Senju and the other 3 were unknowns.
Standing in front of them and witnessing them with his own two eyes, Nagato could finally see that he had been beyond foolish believing that he ever stood a chance against these monsters.
All four of them exuded a terrifying and suffocating aura that made it hard for his weak body to even breath by the simple act of just standing there. Especially the one coming Akari Senju, it was as if he was standing before a real God in the flesh making him mentally scoff at the idea of people believing him to be one.
“I-‘cough’ Is Konan dead?” He weakly asked not able to stop himself from coughing after exhausting himself in his battle.
The blue-haired teen only looked at him for a moment in silence before finally opening his mouth. “No. She’s right here.” At his words a strange tendril made out of what looked like miniature twinkling stars appeared from his back.
Blinking at not having noticed such a thing, Nagato narrowed his eyes slightly as he spotted a bulge about the size of a human female at the end of the tendril and blinked again in realization.
“Is there a reason you didn’t kill her? If so, what will you do with her?” Nagato asked again feeling internally relieved at his last childhood friend still being alive.
“That depends entirely on her after we have a small chat. However, before that…” The boy suddenly stopped midsentence confusing him slightly before he felt a sting in his eyes causing him to blink and upon reopening them, he was greeted by darkness.
“These eyes don’t belong to you, so I don’t feel bad about this.” Akari spoke again however this time he sounded much closer than before as if he was speaking right in front of him. “Regeneration!”
Just as his brain was catching on to the fact that his Rinnegan had been yanked out of his eye sockets, Nagato’s vision returned seeing Akari back in his original position as if he had been under an illusion for the past few seconds.
Something felt strange though, his eyesight was no longer as good as it used to be and even stranger was that he somehow felt better than he had ever felt since that crippling injury years ago.
Narrowing his eyes in thought, Nagato muttered out a low. “Genjutsu?”
“This is no illusion.” Focusing on Akari again Nagato blinked as he noticed a jar filled with liquid in his right hand with two round objects inside.
“…Is that?” Nagato felt his(?) eyes widen as a cold pit formed on his stomach.
“That’s right. These are the eyes that up until now you assumed were yours when in fact, they were never yours to begin with.”
Only getting more confused by the second, Nagato felt a headache forming. “I don’t understand.”
“It’s simple. You never awakened the Rinnegan. Madara Uchiha transplanted his own eyes into you when you were but a child and erased your memories of the event.”
=====
(Regular POV)
After some consideration I finally settled on what to do about Nagato and Konan. ‘That is if they even accept of course.’
Anyways, in return for taking the Rinnegan from him, I had healed Nagato completely as recompense restoring his body back to full health and gave him his original eyes back which were a light purple like a lot of Uzumaki.
When the redhead finally noticed, it took him a few moments to finally pull himself together again as he inspected his whole body in slight awe.
Then I spent the next minutes explaining to the man how he had been used by Madara and Obito all for the sake of their plan and at the end he was nothing more than a sacrifice to revive the real Madara causing him to go silent again.
We stood back patiently giving the man time to come to grips with everything he had learned. In the meantime, I busied myself with selling Obito and feeling how my Rinnegan had become even stronger and evolved into the Rinne Sharingan while still keeping its original purple color.
Most importantly though, I did my best to hold back the urge from braking out into a giggling fit as I noticed the notification for the completion of the Uchiha’s Resurgence mission and the rewards for it.
Two Imaginary Tickets.
The most sought out currency by every Contractor that the Company awarded.
Most likely feeling my good mood, I felt Velzard and Velgrynd’s mood shift to curiosity as they silently observed me trying to decipher what made me so happy.
“…Why tell me all this? What is your goal?”
I was pulled from my happy mood as I heard Nagato finally speak again and saw him looking at me with a blank expression.
Shrugging my shoulders, I told him my plan. “I have a deal for you.”
Narrowing his eyes in confusion now, Nagato seemed to think about it for a moment before nodding at me. “I will need to hear the details first before I agree to anything.”
“In the near future I will be leaving this world and taking with me all the tailed beasts along with the husk of the Juubi. In addition to that since chakra was not something that humans originally possessed; I plan on taking that gift away. Humanity has perverted the original intention of such a gift and instead of using it as a form to understand one another, they weaponized it and use it to kill each other.” I finally revealed my plan, the one I had come up with years ago and had told everyone under me.
Of course, I was not planning to take chakra away from those under me and a very select few that could be counted with one hand but that was my plan. The summoning animals being excluded of course since they had been here since before chakra was even a thing.
Using the Juubi I would absorb all chakra from every living being and then I would revive them afterwards just without the capacity to ever mold chakra again with a combination of Rimuru and Satou’s skills.
Without the gift of chakra, they would all return to being regular humans again drastically lowering the number of casualties in the world. Then eventually after everyone stopped freaking out about the loss of chakra, humanity would be forced to rely on technology and science leading to their own version of the industrial revolution.
Earth as shitty as it was with wars still happening around the world and every other bad thing that could be said about it, was still a hundred times better than the shinobi world.
“You plan to kill everyone!?” Nagato shouted looking at me in horror and despair.
“Somewhat.” I admitted knowing it had to be done if I wanted to go through with this plan of mine. “I will immediately revive everyone of course just their ability to use chakra will be forever lost.”
“W-What you’re saying is impossible! The amount of energy required to revive everyone would me unimaginable! No shinobi alive has that much chakra. I doubt even the Juubi itself has the chakra required to do such a thing!” Nagato strongly denied with a shake of his head.
Sensing Nagato become agitated and tense as if about to attack, Velgrynd released her aura for a moment silencing the man and causing him to go flying back and crash against the machine that until now helped him get around. “Calm down and listen until the end human!” She barked with a scowl on her face.
It took a few moments before Nagato got back on his feet and retook his former position only having suffered a few scratches here and there.
“I-I apologize. I let my emotions get the best of me.” He forced out not truly meaning those words but feeling as if he had to say them regardless from the scowls being sent his way by Velzard and Velgrynd.
“It’s fine, just don’t let it happen again.” I dismissed with a wave of my hand before continuing from where I left off before. “And you were correct, no Shinobi alive or dead could do what I just described but luckily for you me and my companions beside me are different.”
A grin suddenly stretched on my face and I didn’t need to be a sensor to tell that the dragons behind me also sported their own matching grins.
“After all…We were never human to begin with~”
