Chapter 31: A Father’s Meeting

Catching up with Zoro and Sanji, we managed to run for a few minutes without any trouble as we easily dealt with any enemies in our way before we were forced to come to a stop as a literal trail of smoke suddenly blocked our path.

The smoke soon gained the shape of a man, more specifically of Smoker, the Marine Captain of this island, who held a Jitte to his side as he calmly looked at us while blowing smoke.

“This is the end of the line for you and your crew, Strawhat.” Smoker said in the self-reassured manner of a Logia user who hadn’t lost a battle ever since gaining their Devil Fruit.

“A Logia, huh?” Sanji muttered as he pulled out his own cigarette and took a puff as well, even as the heavy rain pelted down on us.

“This is a perfect opportunity to test the results of your training, Sanji.” I suddenly declared, completely ignoring Smoker, and turned to Sanji, who suddenly blinked at me.

“Huh? What do you mean?” Sanji asked in a confused manner before his eyes lit up in understanding as he finally caught on that I was referring to Haki. “I see. Sure, I don’t mind.”

“Besides, Zoro here is about to become busy himself.” I continued with a grin before I signaled to the side, and as we turned we saw a short blue-haired girl running toward us while holding a katana and glaring at Zoro.

I could only grin wider when I heard Zoro curse under his breath.

“Damn, it’s her again.”

“Whoa, she’s a looker~” Sanji being Sanji noticed her looks first before what I said registered, and he turned to Zoro with an angry expression. “Wait a damn minute! What did Luffy mean by that, Marimo!? What did you do to her for her to be looking at you like that!?”

“I didn’t do anything, Ero-cook! And it’s none of your business anyway!” Zoro yelled back with equal anger before shaking his head and turning to me. “Go on ahead, I’ll handle this quickly and catch up.”

While we were talking amongst ourselves we didn’t notice that Smoker now had tick marks all over his forehead as we kept ignoring him before he couldn’t hold it anymore and burst into action.

“Stop ignoring me, dammit! None of you are escaping me!” Smoker yelled as his lower half turned into gray smoke and he quickly shot off at us with his Jitte.

In the next instant Sanji blocked his path with a kick to the face. Due to his slight arrogance that all Logia users got under the belief that they couldn’t be hurt by physical attacks, Smoker didn’t bother blocking and could only widen his eyes in surprise when he was actually struck and sent flying into the distance.

“No one asked you, shitty Marine.” Sanji muttered calmly with a relaxed pose as he slowly brought his leg down and took another drag of his cig.

“Have fun~ Just don’t forget what I said about willpower and you should be fine. I’m going to check how everyone else is doing.” I said now from the rooftop with a cheery wave.

Zoro had taken the opportunity and had already led Tashigi somewhere else for their small date/battle.

With that issue handled, my smile disappeared from my face as I continued moving at a fast pace toward the biggest presence I had ever felt ever since we met Mihawk, having felt it not long after making our run toward the docks from the plaza.

Thankfully it didn’t move even as it no doubt felt my presence approaching, and I came to a stop on the opposite roof from a tall man with a green cloak covering his whole body, leaving only his face uncovered.

Looking into the tanned and tattooed face of the man looking back at me calmly, I stared at him for a moment, curious to see if I would feel something at seeing my actual father for the first time.

After several moments passed, my face finally broke out into a small frown as I found that no, I actually didn’t feel anything at all at meeting Dragon.

To me, I might as well be meeting a stranger as I felt neither happiness nor bitterness at our first meeting.

‘I guess the saying is true about the difference between a Father and a Dad.’ I thought internally before relaxing my expression into a calm smile.

“Hello, Father. Or should I call you Dragon?” I greeted calmly as I crossed my arms.

Dragon remained silent for a bit longer before finally responding after closing his eyes for a moment. “Either is fine. I can’t exactly make you call me something I have no right claiming. So Garp actually told you?”

I shook my head at his question, taking him a bit by surprise since our relationship was a closely guarded secret as far as I could tell, with only a few being privy to it.

“Grandpa didn’t tell me anything. If I’m honest, up until about two years ago I didn’t even know I had a father and mother and didn’t really care or let it bother me.” I shrugged carelessly, only making him more confused.

“Then how did you…?”

“A little bit over two years ago something strange happened.” I was quick to answer, not keeping him in suspense as I decided to tell him a bit of a lie over the time I regained the memories of my first life.

Seeing that I had his full attention, I continued with my face turning serious. “I started seeing really vivid visions of events that had not yet come to pass. Of things that completely shattered my view of the world and my naivete along with it.”

As I spoke, Dragon’s eyes slightly widened before narrowing in a serious manner as a frown marred his face.

“Are you telling me you saw visions of the future?” he asked, not discounting my words but clearly wanting a bit more details.

Deciding to really blow his mind, I nodded equally serious. “I know what really happened at God Valley all those years ago, and how you found two twin red-haired infants but lost one. That same baby grew up and became one of the Four Yonko and, more importantly, my role model and the person who gave me this hat.” I revealed calmly as I touched my hat for a moment.

My words clearly had an effect on the man as his mostly calm face finally broke and he now had a shocked look on his face.

“That’s…! There’s no way you could have possibly known about that.” He muttered in disbelief before going silent in contemplation.

“Haah, I don’t think my visions can be completely trusted though.” I continued with a small sigh, getting his attention again.

“There have already been a few slight inconsistencies from what I saw, and I have a feeling more will show up in the future.”

“The reason I’m telling you all this is because, in the future I saw and something my gut is telling me is true, is that the war that has been prophesied for hundreds of years is soon approaching. Within the next few years as a matter of fact.” I declared seriously, causing him to become serious once more.

“So you even know about that.” Dragon muttered with a frown. “No wonder you already know about Haki as well. I doubt Father would have taught you that.”

“Correct. As the leader of the Revolutionary Army, I thought you should be prepared for what’s about to come. Out of all the visions I saw, this one is the clearest and the one that I have a feeling won’t be changing.”

“The war with the God of this world is soon approaching.” I finished with a slight scowl on my lips as I thought about Imu and his bullshit.

“…God? As in singular?” Dragon, being quite sharp, caught my specific wording and questioned with a raised eyebrow.

“That’s right. The Empty Throne has an owner and we of the D clan are his hated enemies.” I replied with a nod, withholding for now that he seemed to hold a specific hatred for me personally, or at least with the last owner of my Devil Fruit.

“Hmm, you have given me a lot to think about.” Dragon said after a moment of pause and nodded thankfully at me. “Thank you for telling me this, Luffy.”

“As much as I want to say otherwise, I didn’t do it for you.” I said with a shake of my head. “You are but a stranger to me. I did it for Sabo.”

“Sabo?” Dragon asked, not commenting anything on the first thing I said and his expression not changing either.

“That’s right. Sabo is my brother even if he doesn’t remember me right now. Knowingly or not, you looked after him all these years and for that I’m thankful. Since he looked up to you in my visions, I figured this was the best I could do.” I said calmly, getting a nod from him.

“That’s fine. I want to thank you the same.”

“I think this is where we part ways for now. My crew is waiting for me.” I said, sensing that Sanji and Zoro’s fights were done and they were now on their way back to the ship.

“We’ll meet again.” Dragon said simply.

“I would recommend keeping what was said tonight only to those you trust most. Say hello to Sabo for me.” I said in way of dismissal and turned around before pausing for a moment and looking back with a serious look.

“One last piece of advice. The God’s Knights and the Five Elders can only be truly hurt by those with Haoshoku.” With that said, I disappeared the next moment in a burst of Soru.

I ignored the notification I received from my Gacha, saving it for later along with the other I had gotten after my stunt at the execution platform, and quickly made my way to Tiche and Nami’s location.

As if to give our departure a small blessing, the winds started picking up suddenly, originating from where I left Dragon, and they were blowing straight toward the entrance to the Grand Line.

It didn’t take me long to reach the ship, beating Zoro and Sanji by a bit as I landed on the deck hearing Nami shouting orders to the others.

As if sensing me, Nami immediately turned toward me and smiled in relief. “Luffy! Thank goodness you’re here! We must set sail immediately if we don’t want to get stuck here for several days due to the storm!” she shouted over the heavy wind and rain.

I did my best to not let my eyes wander for too long on her wet clothes that were sticking to her skin, or the fact that Nami was clearly not wearing a bra as I could see her hardened nipples clearly.

“Don’t worry, Sanji and Zoro are already on their way here. Is everyone else aboard?” I asked with a reassuring smile.

At that moment Tiche appeared beside me with a Soru of her own, her own clothes in a similar state to Nami’s with the only change being that Tiche was wearing a bra.

“Everyone is accounted for, Luffy-sama.” Tiche replied calmly as she wiped her bangs away from her face. “Also, it should be noted that Johnny and Yosaku chose to remain behind.”

Hiding my slight disappointment at Tiche wearing a bra, and about the news of Johnny and Yosaku, I nodded thankfully at her. I briefly also thought about Alvida’s offer before dismissing it as unimportant.

“That’s good. Now please help me raise the sails. Nami, grab the wheel.” I commanded, getting into captain mode.

Getting two nods in return, we quickly got to work as I shouted at Usopp to help us.

As we were pulling away from the dock, the figures of a slightly beat-up Sanji and an unharmed Zoro made their appearance, and without even slowing down they jumped quite the distance onto the ship.

“Full speed ahead!” I yelled happily with my hands in the air now that everyone was onboard the ship.

Getting excited yells in return, I made my way up onto Merry’s figurehead and took a seat there as I looked out into the distance.

Knowing I had a bit of time before we could see the Red Line and the entrance to the Grand Line, I finally pulled up the notifications I had received earlier.

[Feat Achieved! Met Dragon and revealed some of the future to him]

+1 Gold Random Ticket

‘Hmm, not bad considering I really didn’t do much this time around. Let’s roll!’ I inwardly thought, not surprised at the lack of achievements.

[Rolling…]

[Hagmaxxing]|Uncommon Trait|Your preferred partners at least twice your age are more attracted toward you, and it is easier to earn their favor. In addition, your romantic partners and your looks never age beyond their peak. Does not stop physical aging.

[Expert Conceptualization]|Elite Skill|Conceptualization is your ability to understand what is beyond mundane reality into the realm of esoterics and mystical. Your mind is more easily able to comprehend arcane mysteries and esoterics. Allowing you to learn and develop things like magic far more easily and possess a great intuition toward the esoteric side of reality.

‘Tsk, at this rate I’m going to end up just getting a trait that makes me likable to every type of woman there is.’ I thought with a roll of my eyes as I read the first roll before focusing on the second one.

“Hmm, wouldn’t this still also apply to things like Devil Fruits?” I couldn’t help muttering quietly to myself with a hand on my chin.

My thoughts were interrupted by Nami, who called out to me for something.

Hopping down from my seat, I blinked when I saw Sanji set a barrel down on the deck and widened my eyes in realization.

“Let’s have a little launching ceremony to mark the importance of our voyage!” Sanji declared happily with a smile before setting his foot down on the barrel and declaring proudly.

“To find the All Blue!”

“To find the One Piece!” I immediately declared next with a big grin.

“To be the greatest swordsman!” Zoro declared next.

“To draw a map of the world!” Nami went in after that.

“To see Luffy-sama’s dream!” Tiche said next.

The only one remaining was Usopp, who became a bit nervous at what to say before setting it down after a moment with a look of resolution on his face.

“To become a brave warrior of the sea!!”

We looked at each other after that with smiles on our faces.

“Let’s go! To the Grand Line!” I yelled, and as one we all raised our foot in the air before bringing it crashing down and destroying the barrel.

“Aye!”

Thank you for the great chapter, Luffy breaking canon over his knee is hilarious to me. Stay safe out there and keep up the good work!

asdo

awww, no telling him about Kuma and bonney?

rangleskov

The good shit begins

Hyperion

Glad something different finally happened. You can’t just rehash the entire story, but with the main characters stronger. All that would happen is that they’d crush everything, and thats just not super interesting.

Deep sea enjoyer

Can we get a interlude chapter of various reactions from garp and dragon to this changed luffy

SuperDani

So will smoker be obsessed with catching Sanji now?

Rimurugale

yes, still debating on exactly when though

Rimurugale

yeah, i wanted to ramp things up slowly before doing big changes. going forward, a lot of things are going to change. The main islands are still the same though.

Rimurugale

i had the same idea actually, so yes.

Zero Wrath

Only gold for revealing very important information about the future and weaknesses of the knights and five elders? Seems a bit low for something like that considering Dragon is in a position to do a lot more with that kinda info. Maybe because it’s not really directly actionable info but just a general warning?

Zero Wrath

Also, loving the story!
