Chapter 7: Becoming an Adventurer

This chapter was almost completely new material. At this point in the original draft I started a series of minor glimpses of scenes with huge skips of time between each. ...And I mean minor glimpses, 1-3 paragraphs at most. It was boring, to be honest and it really did the opening part of the series a major disservice, just because I didn't want to write a 'child' MC (and honestly, it should be becoming fairly clear by this point that Ranthia's not quite as mature as she believes herself to be).

The only bits of this chapter that existed in the OG draft was a watered down part of the scene of Tatius refusing to take the manhunt job and them running away from the not so mid-sized dino (which went unidentified and unslain in the original).

In the old draft Ranthia kept her original hide cloak and eventually had it repurposed into crude armor by an armorer. ...While she was still growing. While I was revising this section, Ranthia surprised me a bit by refusing to get 'proper' armor since she was growing (and because she liked the one little gag she'd figured out). I even decided to commission a sketch of Ranthia in the cloak (sketch by Rodimus13 Designs).
