Chapter 8: Aquiliea Antics I

Yup, STILL on the OG Passings chapter! Finally up to page 3 of it, at least? ...I wasn't kidding when I said I've expanded Ranthia's childhood.

Ah Ranthia's issues with guards. It wasn't really a planned character quirk, but it happened (quite naturally) multiple times, so I decided to make it a thing! Sometimes it's mostly her fault (like here), sometimes she's kind of a victim; but she just doesn't get along with them outside a few narrow times.

The relationship between Ranthia and the men is always fun, and it was nice to work in more signs of Ranthia's not-quite-so-mature mindset.

Speaking of relationships though, one of my favorite bits is how Ranthia and her guide are almost vaguely antagonistic towards one another. It's kind of a uniquely Ranthia sort of thing, yet it makes SO much sense with how she views herself.

Ranthia finally gets a fancy class up that does EXACTLY what she wants and is so excited about it! ...So of course the reality proves to be woefully inadequate. It was a fun scene to write and worked a LOT better than just describing what the class could do as blandly as possible in the OG draft. Even if Pupius might come off as a bit of a jerk here.
