EN: I’ve realized I have this habit of retreating into misery as a way to avoid life’s challenges. It’s like a familiar, dark corner where I feel safe from the world, especially when things get too overwhelming.
As emotional and artistic people, we often feel everything so deeply that overstimulation becomes exhausting. Some days, I just want to stay in bed, hiding from the chaos. But instead, I find my escape in retouching images—it’s my way of staying connected without being consumed.
It’s taken me years to understand this about myself and to learn to be kinder to me. I’m finally giving myself permission to take breaks and just be.
How do you cope with this? How do you handle the times when the world feels too much, and you just want to retreat? Do you find solace in your art, or do you allow yourself to pause entirely?
I’d love to hear your thoughts. Let’s be honest with each other—after all, we’re all in this together.
