Babies! 🖤

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how frightening it can be to actually sit with your own emotions.

Not to distract yourself from them. Not to rationalize them. Not to turn them into a joke or immediately look for a solution.

Just… feel them.

Sometimes we’re so afraid of what we might find underneath the surface that we keep ourselves busy. We work, we scroll, we go out, we create, we talk to people — anything that keeps us from having to sit alone with what is happening inside.

And I understand that fear.

Because emotions can be uncomfortable. They can make us question things we thought we understood, bring back memories we thought we had moved past, or force us to admit that something hurts more than we wanted to acknowledge.

But maybe facing our emotions isn’t about fixing everything.

Maybe sometimes it’s simply about having the courage to say:

This is what I feel. And I’m allowed to feel it.

I’m still learning how to do that. 🖤

What emotions do you find the hardest to face? Mines are anger and disappointment. Looking forward to reading your comments.

No intentar racionalizarlas.

Y tengo derecho a sentirlo.

Yo todavía estoy aprendiendo a hacerlo. 🖤

Envy and fear are two deadliest sins that I’ve conquered overtime. I used to make comparison to others and be anxious of disappointing others throughout my life. Self love and introspection are the keys to burying the old self.

So true, particularly for the so called negative emotions. It can be very difficult to sit and experience anger, grief, disappointment, panic, pain. But they are all part of life, and will come and go. Yes, I can get very angry (but try to see if I can understand what that anger can tell me about myself) and grief (having lost my mother this year) I'd also difficult, because it can strike at any time and it may not be an appropriate place/time to express it. But I do my best to allow it to occur, and maybe express itself when more socially appropriate
