This started off with just wanting to do something regarding the in-game currency for housing. Initially I thought it would be funny to have someone describe their harrowing adventure on how they obtained a store-bought item with real money. I considered having a whole take about selling fish on the Auction House, buying a WoW token, buying Hearthsteel with it, etc. The idea was finding the humor in trying to weave in-game lore surrounding out of game currency.

In the process of writing out the idea, I thought maybe I should try to do both. Have someone describe their in-game obtained item, then have someone describe their store bought item. So I started thinking of some lore to describe an item in a house. I thought of an animal head mounted on a wall, and an overly elaborate roleplayer describing their fight, and immediately, Keydar’s pirate from #911 and #936 popped into my head.

After that the rest was pretty obvious to me, he describes killing some awesome shark. Once it came to describing the store bought item I knew I had to go the other direction, and have him just speak out of character. Even if I had room to make him describe his harrowing tale of buying an item with real currency I knew it would detract from the final joke.

And you made the store bought model fancier. Nice.
