I’ve had numerous comics with kids looking up to heroes which end up showing heroes in poor light. The ones that come to mind are #896, #867, #675, and the original, #355. Originally I was going to have the kids get spotted playing “raider” by Keydar and Nyte, and the game was going to be the kids effectively pretending to suck at dps and die and get benched. That idea eventually morphed into the kids admiring a hero from a far who was “raiding” from the bench.

I almost reduced this comic to 3 panels. Imagine if panels 2 and 4 didn't exist. I would have combined the dialogue from panels 1 and 2 so she would be saying, "Wow, a real life hero!" As I was putting it together though, I realized I really wanted a pause between what is now panels 3 and 5, so that she could repeat his question, "Does he still raid?!"

I usually don’t like to make my comics this short, but in this case I felt like making it 5 panels was just forcing extra dialogue that wasn’t needed and didn’t add anything to the rest of the comic.

I was actually drawing the little girl in this comic for a potential future side-project and wanted an excuse to use some of my designs:
