Comic #150: The Horace Hypocrisy (Patreon)

I just came back from out of town, so there won't be a new comic today, so I will be posting this throwback and a bonus panel today instead.

Finally the arc ends.

If you look closely at Nyte (Whitemane), you'll notice her armor is made out of cardboard. Here's a full res of her from the comic file so you can see I tried to put in the triangular corrugation in her cardboard hat and shoulders. You can also see better here that the decorations on her shoulders are just smiley faces.

I realize now after all these years that I really missed an opportunity with Keydar at the end here. In the previous comic he was sheared to make Nyte's wig, I should have had him bald or at least gave him sheared patchy hair in the final panel.

I started this arc with the intention of finishing it at comic #150. That ended up becoming a bit of a tradition, at least with each hundredth comic, that it would be part of an arc. This is by no means the longest arc, but I definitely did not know where it was going as I wrote it. That itself became pretty standard for my arcs until after the clone arc (#296), which probably could have stopped at #300. I learned that my arcs worked a lot better if I wrote them out ahead of time, or at least gave myself a good outline. This is especially evident with the time loop arc starting with #395, which wouldn't have worked if I made it up as I went along.
