Comic #151: A Day in the Life (Patreon)

With the holidays I'm not going to be able to make a comic this week, so I'll be posting a throwback and bonus panel instead.

This is definitely one of my favorites. I feel like it perfectly captures a lot of themes from my comics in one. Gratuitous violence, player cruelty, sympathetic NPCs, and an sociopathic gnome. I also like that this one comes directly after the NPC rebellion arc. The players clearly learned absolutely nothing.

Also, I can't find the video on Youtube, but I do remember that a fan ended up making a Machinima based on this comic. If one of you guys find it, let me know.

This is based on the following vanilla quest, Rat Catching, in which you had to collect 12 kobold ears (hence him needing 10 after killing the first kobold). However, from my recollection, if this quest was anything like other collect quests, you were probably lucky to get even one ear from a kobold.

I also noticed that I drew Miji holding the picture frame with his right hand in panel 12, but his left in panel 13. Man who drew this dreck, what an amateur.

Edit: Knaxia pointed out in a comment that one of the pictures on the back wall is literally the 6th frame of the comic. Which is hilariously lazy even by my standards. You can see the other picture that's half cut off is also the picture Miji looks at later. Which is either a copy of the picture that he takes with him, or Miji was kind enough to put it back on the wall after the massacring of his family. Here's a closeup from the original file.
