I've wanted to do a comic about a player being out of line of sight of healing for a while, but every time I would try to do it, I struggled with finding a punchline. This time I thought maybe if I drew the player in the final panel really far away from the healer it would work, but I knew I only had so much horizontal space to work with. I then thought maybe I could use vertical space, but each panel wasn't really that tall. It then occurred to me that I could just make one giant panel and use the natural height of the whole comic itself to show that the player is on a completely different floor than the healer.

I liked the idea of continuing the theme from the previous comic, and I even considered keeping the same group, but none of the players in the group from that comic made sense to fill the role that Douche ultimately fills. Narya could have filled that role I guess, but he's more of a doofus and less of an asshole. So I decided to just change up the group a bit.

I knew this one was going to be effectively two panels, but both panels required a lot of work drawing the proper action and blocking. Also creating the dungeon floors was a bit time consuming, and I'm not entirely pleased with the final result. I just feel like the brick floor underneath the players doesn't look quite right. It almost looks like a panel border more than an actual part of the actual dungeon they are a part of.

The Idea is good, but to be honest: Till I started reading the commentary I thought of the floors as panel borders like you fear in the last sentence and thus I wondered about the punchline. Maybe take inspiration from devious dungeons (just the first thing I found while googling) and similarly styled games. They draw floors with a stone layer above and a visually different second layer supporting it which makes their purpose way more obvious. And/or show that they have structure by directly attaching something to them from below, e.g. a chandelier or dripping water (which could even seep trough from a puddle above, connecting the panels even more).

I do not recall , has the reveal of Donald being a priest ever gone anywhere?
