Hey folks,

I'm just getting back from out of town today, so similarly to last week, I'm going to use this opportunity to post a couple of special comics I had on the old website from 2013.

This first one I have absolutely NO memory of making. I remember the kickstarter, and allowing them to offer clones as an option for one of the kickstarter characters, but I literally have no recollection of making this comic. I was so confused I went into my comic files folder to see if the raw drawings were in there, and sure enough they were. My memory just blows.

Sadly, I don't think the kickstarter ever went through, but it was a fun cross-over.

For the second comic, from October of 2013, I'm curious if anyone even remembers the context for it to even make sense. Go ahead and read it, and I will provide context afterwards.

It was hard even for me to remember the exact context for this second comic, but based on the timeline of the comic (October 2013), I believe this was the NASA rover Curiosity. At the time I believe there was a government shutdown which resulted in furloughs throughout NASA. The idea of the comic was that something as fantastic and exciting and as much of a marvel of engineering as a robot operating on another planet was still completely at the mercy of our idiotic politics.

I think at the time I didn't want to make this particular comic overly political, so I decided to make the final panel as non-partisan as possible, creating two politicians that don't reflect any real people. I understand why I did it, because that wasn't really the point of the comic, and I didn't want people getting bogged down into a blame game, but I recall getting a little bit of flack about it at the time, and I think they had a fair point. I think making it look like the issue was equally caused by both sides was a bit of a copout, but I worried the alternative would have derailed the comic so much it would have kind of ruined the point.

Funnily enough, so much time has passed that I don't even know if anyone remembers the context for this comic. Let me know if any of you reading it even remember the events enough to have understood it at all.
