I feel like this comic marked an increase in quality (art wise), and I think it's because I actually re-drew most of my characters for this comic.

At this point in time I was usually copy and pasting my characters from one comic to the next. So their look would stagnate for several comics before I actually took the time to redraw them. Sometimes I redrew a character out of necessity (if they were in a unique pose or position). Other times I just felt inspired to be more creative.

I do remember other very specific points in the comics where I felt inspired to improve, and you could see a marked difference in quality. Switching away from Comic Sans is one I can still remember pretty clearly.

I'm pretty sure I created this entire arc just so that I could make that Donald Captain Planet joke. I still find it funny. Captain Planet was an early 90s cartoon about a mulleted eco-friendly superhero. The kids would summon him using 5 magic rings of all the elements, plus heart. Had I made this story today I'm pretty sure Donald would have made an Avatar joke.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention... This also marks Narya's first transformation. It became a running joke for quite a while that Narya would keep changing age or hair style.
