Comic #795: The Pirate (Patreon)

Man, drawing those tricorn hats in 3 different perspectives was a pain in the ass. In the end I had to use Wowhead's 3d model tool and found a similar enough hat to help me with a reference.

The red pads on Keydar's legs in the final panel are a bit of a visual callback to what his pants used to look like in the old comics.

I actually designed the entire newspaper for the 4th panel, but sadly I don't think any of the text gags are visible anymore:

As I was writing this comic, I had an inkling that I had done something like this. I searched through the archive for keywords, and found this Class Preview comic, and assumed that was what I was remembering.

What's hilarious about it is the pose in the final panel. They are nearly IDENTICAL. I didn't use the previous comic as a reference, so this was just my brain spitting out the same pose in my head.

How embarrassing.
