I originally was going to make a comic with a Microsoft joke, probably something Clippy related. However, that news broke early in the week, and by the time the weekend rolled around the jokes had already been done to death. So I scrapped that idea.

I came up with this barbershop premise pretty early, and really liked the idea of an animated comic showing various faces on the barber chair. I kept trying to come up with a punchline, and what I finally ended up with really tickled me.

There's something about Miji being so unnecessarily cruel for absolutely no reason that makes me laugh. Because of that I wanted to make sure the whole thing looked completely routine, like he just didn't give a fuck. So I worked hard on his stance in that final panel. I needed him jovially sauntering off completely unphased by anything. I also considered blurring the barber in the background, to amplify this effect but I decided in the end that I didn't want to lose any details in his face.

If you have a joke about Microsoft — just do this. Those won't go out of style anytime soon.

Not blurring out the barber so we could see his face was the right call. Putting him more in shadow accomplished the same goal.
