Comic #809: True Colors (Patreon)

I've had this comic premise on my list since legion. I really liked the idea of connecting class colors to item rarity, but I could never really think of a way to turn it into a comic. I couldn't figure out how to set up the idea without a ton of clunky exposition.

Somehow, when I looked at the idea this week, it popped into my head to have Donald come up with the connection. It felt less expository coming from him, because of how clueless he is about everything.

If the last panel looks familiar, it's because it is. I've used the "forum post" joke in a few comics, but I specifically wanted to do a callback to my first, and favorite of these, #558. The forum design has changed a lot since then. For example, you no longer see a list of pages at the top of each post. I decided to keep the page count anyway, because I liked the joke that such an idiotic forum post would receive 30+ pages of replies.

You might notice that on the guild roster Donald was promoted to "Raider" while Narya was demoted to "Bench". I also changed the text in the 2nd to last panel from "we are like [A Common Rock]" to "you are like [A Common Rock]" because I don't think Donald knows he's a priest.

Also, the rock in said panel is real.
