Comic #824: Hat Trick (Patreon)

There were way cooler helms I could have gone with, but in the end, with the way I draw Gigz' ears, I had to pick a hat with a flat brim for the final gag to work. I also had to redraw her ears slightly, because with her normal look, her ears don't naturally go straight up like that.

Drawing that damn hat took a while. I started the comic by drawing Gigz in the final panel, because I knew it HAD to work on her. After that I ended up having to draw it from about 4 different angles. I also purposefully added the feather because at first it looked way too much like just a boring modern fedora, and I wanted there to be a reason everyone would think it was so cool.

I saw a transmog screenshot the other day with an elf's ears sticking through a hat. I wrote down the idea right away, because I could picture the final panel, and Gigz is the perfect character for this to happen to. I do admit the theme in this comic is a bit similar to #591, but I found it different enough with the setup and execution.

I also had a very clear image of everyone almost mourning her look with their caps off on their chests. I'm not sure I pulled it off, but I tried.
