Comic #857: Cataloging (Patreon)

I loved this premise immediately when I thought about it, but I struggled with the punchline. 

One of the problems I kept having was putting too much exposition in Nyte's dialogue. For example, "Ooh, a DPS failing mechanics and blaming it on the healer!" It ends up taking some of the punch out of the final panel, because people are already expecting half of the punchline.

I felt that having the subject of the final picture call to Nyte from offscreen, and have some dialogue before she takes the picture helped to solve that problem. The gold seller is so out of left field that the reader starts to forget about the whole picture premise until the final panel. At least that's what I hope.

Originally I thought of having the subject being Donald standing in fire.

I settled for the gold seller, but in the back of my mind I always thought there's gotta be a funnier version out there that I can't think of. I could think of literally a dozen subjects to place in the final two panels:

I also originally considered reversing the comic, and having the first two pictures me common, and the final be rare.

I was also going to draw a new character for the gold seller, but I remembered I had already had some gold sellers in past comics. So I went all the way back to #88 and #356 to bring back Jerry.
