Well, you know what they say, "Bad things come in threes", so here is our THIRD video featuring the dwarves of Tolkien Lore. Kili, Fili, Bofur, Thorin, and featuring Gimli on the battle axe. He really shreds.

"Song of Durin" was a tune that I was not at all familiar with until folks started requesting it after Misty Mountains was released, so as you can see, it's been on the list for QUITE some time but my facemeat can only handle so much abuse per year. BUT I'm happy to report that beard lovers everywhere are going to really enjoy this one.

This version of the song comes from the interpretation by "Clamavi De Profundis" which loosely translates to "ummm.... What?" You should look them up at all the places. They legit sound straight out of middle earth, whereas I sound a little more like the early cretaceous. You know, dusty and dried up.

It always feels great to check a highly requested tune off the list, but the added bonus for me is seeing the comments section fill up with "I LOVE THESE GUYS" and "MORE DWARVES PLEASE" , and "HOW DID I END UP HERE"?

Thanks for being here, you are all just the loveliest.

SEE YOU SOON!

Debs Badger

Absolutely STUNNING arrangement, G! 🥰

Emma Yadkin

Get Eli to help with growing beards.

Tema Krempley

Absolutely brilliant! This Tolkien geek couldn't be happier.

Druid

The harmonies? The build, then pulling back? The little subtle details, like use of the dripping water for percussion?? And the storytelling… how did this make me feel so sentimental? Beautiful, Geoff!!

Angie Woollard

This might just be the most beautiful one out of the trilogy! Or, at least a 3-way tie. ;)

Maryse B

Encore une fois!!! Wow. Just Amazing. And you're voice ahhhh. A new one to my play list for relax and enjoyed the moment! MERCI MERCI ET ENCORE MERCI Geoff. I'm very happy you do it this one.

Katrina Greely

Wow, that tone near beginning where you sang “he named the nameless hills and dales” hit me in my soul. 💖 I’m still listening…just had to interject that early in song.

Lynn M

This was one of the three that I was thinking when you showed the dwarves were back. Don’t have time to at the moment to listen multiple times like I want to so I will be back with thoughts later.

Amanda Hovendon

Omg the dad joke got me. “He really shreds” 🤣 But beautiful video and beautiful arrangement, Geoff. Thank you once again❤️✌️

Lady Payne

I love this - you harmonize so well with yourselves.

Tigsa

Beautiful! 🎶

Mikki Fullerton

Clamavi De Profundis do some great work. I'm always so happy when folks put music to Tokein's songs.

Blue Raven

Totally worth the wait. What a stellar arrangement ✨Thank you, sir(s) 😄 - and Kathy

Wendy Allen

Loved it! My favourite so far. ❤️

Diary and Poetry

I really love this. This is one of your best songs.

Huldra Draco

just in case you haven't noticed it yet, Geoff. there's a small visual error at around 4:47 in the video, where the screen pauses for a second.

Laural Andersen

A very worthy addition to the dwarf ballads ⛏️⚔️🏹 Amazing arrangement!

Renee A. Butler, LMT

I might like this better than I See Fire, but is definitely up there with my favorite of your storytelling pieces. Thank you for taking such care with the arrangement, as always ❤️ 🎶😍

Mikki Fullerton

Also, thank you so much for your own version, it's gorgeous and I look forward to many future listens!

BigBadaBoom - Daniel D

This was amazing. Thank you for blessing our ears, eyes, and hearts with such a song.

Kourtney Frantz

My…my….you’ve managed to do it YET once again!!!! Everything about this was beautiful..I SO appreciate your mid-range as well as your bass. TIGHT HARMONIES…delightful!!! 🥰❤️🔥 This has quite a Christmas-y symphonic sound to it…🤔…in a mournful yet hopeful way…strange way to describe it, but that’s the FEELS it gives me…very well done, Sir!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Katrina Greely

Beautiful arrangement! Man, I really hope you found a Renaissance Festival or something, to wear that red beard. Show that gloriousness to the world. 😁

Lisa Kettlewell

Another Mastrrpiece by Geoff!!! 😍💜😍💜😍💜

Ann Durham

Oh be still my beating heart! Your voice is extra gorgeous is this one - you've gone for the smooth tones and I love it!

Gretchen G

I think this is my new favorite. 🩵

Melanie Hobbs

This was SO beautiful!! I love it when these guys get together and sing! I am SO glad that I ended up here, listening to this masterpiece of audio AND video. Such joy for my earholes!

Mikki Fullerton

One last comment, you do such a good job capturing whatever mood a song requires for it's message. You're a true musical artist.

Ethan Kayne

Absolutely gorgeous. Bravo 👏 sir!!!!!

Tracy Z

Beautiful blended tones. I like that each part had a stand-out moment that fit in seamlessly with the song. You are a wonderful arranger as well as a wonderful singer.

Carol Franklin

Beautiful I didn’t know this one but I love it. Very atmospheric

Amazing arrangement and performance. Thank for sharing this with us.

Huldra Draco

HOLY AMAZEBALLS, Geoff! This was absolutely gorgeous!!! 😍😍😍

Maggie S

Hauntly beautiful. Thank you!

Manasi Kane

This is beautiful and melancholy and hopeful all at once ❤️ I think you can’t help but one up yourself with every new release ! Thank you for this ,it’s wonderful and I’m going to be listening to this one on a loop forever 😊

Karen & Lauren

so. this is my introduction to this song. should i listen to the original, or leave this masterpiece untainted?

Ashley Evers

It's always fun seeing how many people don't realize it's all you 🤣 Seriously though, this is truly stunning. Every note of this is stunning. Thank you so, so much!

Mia

Did I stay awake until three in the morning for this? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely. There is the most divine mix of ominous depth and lyrical purity in this arrangement that blends and flows seamlessly. Tragic and beautiful.

Lacy McCloud

This is beyond beautiful. A+ arrangement and A+ vocal performance!

Manasi Kane

One more comment as an aside : I came here for your music but I think I’ll be staying here for your (Dad?) jokes 😂. You have a way with words that’s just 👌🏻

Cécile Roussey

Nice birthday present I have here! Today is my birthday and this song... OMG!!! all I love! A celtic side and I’m on my father’s side, celtic origin... I love it! Thank you Geoff... for this wonderful song! OMG! It’s so beautiful! I will listen to it again ^^

Katherine Powell

I came to the comments to specifically see if anyone else had noticed that glitch and make sure it wasn't just on my end.

Katherine Linkous

Was that Legolas standing beside his friend Gimli? Elf got short! LOL! Awesome rendition. I felt myself looking as wonderously as Gimli at the end.

Maria Moore

Amazing I guessed it was gimli. I love the 5 part harmonies

Pete Magill

Great music, thanks! And awesome costumes! But y'all don't seem tiny, like dwarves ;)

B Sprak

The end in particular gave me chills! The ghosts fading away, leaving Gimli? alone to watch for Durin's return and perhaps feeling and hearing the voices of his slain family in the vastness of Moria. The last solemn note of Durin's song lingers...chills. (Edit) The atmosphere is so beautifully representative of a cavern. Sounds echoing, a sense of immense space, the dripping of water, and Gimli standing shoulder to shoulder with family and friends lost in battle. Beautiful and masterful artistry.

Katie Haycox

Not a song I am familiar with, but fantastic as always. 👏👏👏♥️

Dorothy Rosenberg

As always, another banger. I’m gobsmacked. Thank you. PS. De Profundis Clamavi is Latin for, “from the depths I cry.”

Katherine Powell

This was definitely beautiful, Geoff. I love how, since there's obviously a time jump, the original four dwarves came in as ghostly figures from the past. I would also like to point you toward Huldra's comment about the video glitch. Just want to make sure you can fix it before the public release. Thanks for sacrificing your face meat to the beard gods once again for us. :)

LaRae

It’s beautiful, as usual. ❤️

Sarah Borzelli

When I saw your teaser with Gimli I thought it might be 'Durin's Song' and my thought was that you are good at adding interest to repetitive songs so that could be a good one...but oh boy you outdid yourself again! The arrangement is absolutely stunning; starting from the lonely water drops and the mysterious spheric background music, the lonely voices (each one catching you on surprise at how beautiful they sound) blending into each other eventually. The subtle sounds in the background (like the metallic hammering) painting the atmosphere of Moira, then the swelling strings adding drama and underlining the vastness of the cave. THEN when those drums kick in, you make me feel like in an epic battle! Along with the strings it's hopeful and tells about the greatness of the folk. Cutting back to the sadness and loneliness but then giving hope again. You sure understand how to create an epic atmosphere, sir! I'm sure that was what Tolkien wanted to make us feel! I love your commitment to the hair and costumes. That backdrop looks great and Eli has done a brilliant job with the lighting!!! The ray of light coming from the upper corner and the color changing in the backdrop - woah! It's brilliant how you made the other 'dwarf ghosts' appear and disappear! That's all I can indulge for the moment - all other things I will have to discover at a more brain-friendly time tomorrow. Thank you, Geoff for another wonderful song!

Lis M

I absolutely loved this. Now I have to go back and watch it properly (since the first time I couldn't really watch it and be a responsible driver at the same time 😶‍🌫️)... Which means watching it at least half a dozen times. 😁

Lois McCray

So many feelings at this moment. Felt it in my heart, took my breath away and tears streaming down my cheeks. Beautifully done. Can't wait to share with everyone. Even more fun will be watching all the reactors reactions.

Ashley Evers

I can't stop listening to this, and every time I do, I feel the lyrics more. Just like always, you make me *feel* this song, and it's like I'm hearing it the way Tolkien meant it to be heard, meant you to feel when you heard it. Just . . .Damn.

Sammi Owens

Just can't tell you how happy I am to support your amazing creative efforts and to hear your incredible voice in songs like this! Thank you for letting us be a small part and feeling so included!!! You and all the crew are so much fun to watch putting these things together. Really magical seeing the final results.

Janis Carney

I have been a Tolkien fan since the 1960s, when the first Ballantine edition was published in the US. And obviously in love with Geoff's music. So beyond grateful to you for giving such a wonderful voice to the dwarves' songs. So beautifully staged.

ANITA M WRIGHT

Absolutely amazing! Thank you, Geoff you are amazing too! Can't wait for more!

Andy Seynaeve

Musically and visually stunning. As a retired professional photographer that teaches lighting techniques, I've always been impressed with your sets and lighting. Well done!

Alyssa Daniels

The harmonies are particularly stunning in this arrangement! And the tenor lines?! Like butter! Absolutely gorgeous ❤️ That last chord just hits different for some reason.

Sandy Parker

That was so very beautiful I thought I would cry. The sounds the sights were so wonderful. You are a treasure (no matter what Layne may say ;} and thank you for sharing with us.

Jacky Friedman

OMG OMG OMG!!!! That was absolutely beautiful. And your best song yet. It actually touched my heart and I wanted to cry. As as I saw the set in the beginning I was in awe of the beauty of it. You did Gimil proud. Another lullaby for my playlist 😉

Brontesaurus Rex

Yay, Daryl got to come out to play! Was it wise to give him an axe?

Jacky Friedman

PS.... I love Clamavi De Profundus. They are amazing. I have several of their videos on my playlist. I found them when you did "I See Fire" which I watched before Misty Mountain.

Bec White

How do you keep managing to outdo yourself? This is absolutely stunning - going to have it on repeat as soon as it's released

Ashley Evers

You don't have to *give* Daryl an ax. The question is where he keeps getting them from 🤣

Erma Payne

Extraordinary, and the best of the three!

Cyndra

Thank you Geoff for your amazing ability to give your arrangements an very real life and presence by weaving melody and harmony together, giving us all such a wonderful experience.

Lynn M

Back after my first three listen and some time to collect my thoughts. I am a Tolkien loving geek girl and Misty Mountains Cold was my introduction to you Geoff. Last year when you posted that the dwarves were coming back for “I See Fire” I became a Patron. When you posted the teaser Gimli image I hoped that you would be doing Durin’s Song. The arrangement seems to have a Celtic feel to it which I loved. The backdrop and the sarcophagus are perfect calls back to The Moria scenes in Fellowship. I loved the subtle hinting that “Gimli”was surrounded by the ghosts of his kin, without actually resorting to additional makeup to make them look like ghosts. So many amazing little details in this. The amount of work and heart that went into this shine through. I am so happy to be a patron and contribute in a small way to things like this.

Jordi S

You know you're going to need to keep those dwarf costumes forever now so you can keep doing more of these wonderful covers 😉

Ilona Dever

Absolutely mesmerizing, Geoff! Oh, and I like it when my favorite shirt is worn. The leather (?) ringed shirt is wonderful whether it's you or Layne wearing it!

Lexy Wolfe (aka Pam)

I will forever be amazed at the expansiveness of your vocal range. I think this is the best of the three LOTR songs you've done. Would not be opposed to more, so long as your sweet cheeks can handle the extra face fur.

Jason

Without the singing I would have sworn that Gimil was someone other than Geoff. Also strangely had flashbacks to God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen for some reason...not sure if it was the lighting or some of the harmonies. Not a bad thing, just unusual...maybe it's the meds I'm on. :)

Rhonda Davey

So happy that the dwarves are back. Whenever I see Geoff as s dwarf I always have in the back of my mind the 6 ft dwarf Corporal Carrot from Discworld. It doesn't take away my deep appreciation for how faithfully Geoff inhabits the world of Tolkein though.

Maggie Nystrom

I just wish Tolkien could have heard this. It’s how the dwarves would have song the song. Thank you for bringing apart of Middle Earth to us, both the beauty and the grief.

Amanda Nott

Bravo, sir! Very well done!

Sheila

Hauntingly beautiful!

Lana

Amazing song, beautiful vocals and harmony! It was nice to wake up to this in the morning! Yes, I agree with the "more dwarfs" statement. I think these sequels are needed every year and of course I always like to read SOON for each song every time! Everyone who contributed to this masterpiece did a great job. It turned out magical! Thank you for letting me see you and you can continue anytime! 🔥🪓

Lady Payne

I LOVE THESE GUYS MORE DWARVES PLEASE HOW DID I END UP HERE

Michelle and Quincy

Thank you for doing the dwarves justice. Now please continue with LOTR songs!!! 🩷 from my Tolkien loving heart

Tim Radde

Well done sir. I can see why you had to wait so long as it must have taken forever to grow out Gimli's beard. Never a problem with adding another dwarf or (Geoff).

Scott Boa

This is a work of art. I can't wait for you to put it on YouTube.

Karen Grace

This is utterly Awesome. Love the new guy, helmet axe beard and all. This is the perfect "act lll" for the Dwarves. I, for one, hope there is more, after your facemeat recovers of course.

Sofia Alfenito

THIS IS MAGESTIC!!!! also i barely recognize you as gimli lol

Mike Nieder

I can’t say that you have outdone yourself. Because yourselves are incredibly. By the way we love your CD.

Emily Houk

Gorgeous!!!!!! I love that I couldn't tell it was just 1 of you singing, truly thought there were 5 different dwarves (yep caught the honorary one but won't spoil it!)!

Stanley

This was amazing. I'll hold out hope that one day in the not too distant future he'll cover The Last Goodbye. It's a beautiful song and I think it'd sound amazing in Geoff's voice, with or without dwarf costumes and beards

Leigh D

Like you, Geoff, I'm not familiar with this song. I have heard of it but have not heard it before now. Such a beautiful song so beautifully sung 🥰 I LOVE THE DWARVES 🥰

Johanna Ruusulaakso

Beautiful 😍 I have to listen this at least 5 times in a day.

Suzy Bailey

Wow, those harmonies are gorgeous and certainly tugged on the heartstrings! More than the others, (which are great) this one really *feels* like I've been transported to Middle Earth. Wonderful job Geoff, thank you! 😥💜🇬🇧

Felicity McDonald

And the coat with the embroidered shoulder cuff thing!

Kendra

🤩😍🤩

KorKnot

Top marks!! Please add me to the list of Dwarf fans.

Karin Wolf

Gimli and the ghostly appearences of the other 4 - long dead and decayed when Gimli entered those cursed caves... but they had a really good song together!! 🥰

Kashton Hansen

Awesome but I was REALLY waiting for the long awaited Bb0 to happen somewhere…😏 someday one day

AmbularD

Oh, my heart. Gimli singing with Thorin and Company and then walking off alone. They would have been so proud of him, from Durin right on down the ages.

Sue Armstrong

I love these guys! 😁 They always come through with amazing vocals, even the new guy. Kudos on the video concept, that fits into the LOTR universe so well! I love seeing the short stories you tell through your music and videos. 👏👏

Karin Wolf

Seeing Gimli with a beautiful straight nose and smooth skin is a little shocking still... but I'll get used to it, I'll get used... 🥰😘

Tara Congo

I kind of feel like I was just kicked in the chest, but in good way 😆 I had tears in my eyes from the first verse on. Holy guacamole, was that ever gorgeous. The harmonies and arrangement are just perfect, but I also want to shout out that stunning instrumental track. I've listened a few times now and am hearing so many fascinating details (one fun one is what sounds like weapon strikes on "axe" and "sword" at 4:51). The dynamic flow throughout keeps what could be a repetitive song in constant movement and feels like proper story-telling. As an absolutely enormously passionate LOTR fan, I deeply appreciate the thoughtfulness you put towards these "dwarfish" covers. Even though this puts a beautiful cap on the story you've been telling from Misty Mountains until now, I wouldn't say no to more covers in this world since you do such great justice to it. It's an honour as always to be able to support your awesomeness, Geoff.

Jeanette Pencz

I am not crying 😭😭😭😭 I am lost for words. This is just gorgeous and pure magic . Thank you Geoff for this beautiful heartbreaking cover of this song . And hello and welcome Gimli 😘

Laura Pilkington

I am amused that you, the obvious elf, has never done an elf, but has done four or five dwarves three times over 🤣

Gundula Mayer

OMG ... stunning! Too hear more of Geoff's higher register is pure joy! Gorgeous and and absolute masterpiece and amazing gift to all of us who will proudly listen to it again and again 🥹👌

Amber

Absolutely incredible, Geoff!! I love seeing the dwarves and hearing your amazing voice!! So cool to see Gimli joining this one ❤️😍

Amber

I thought it was my internet connection going out! I was about to be all annoyed thinking it was cutting off in the middle of the video

Janina

Absolutely beautiful and I actually teared up 🥰 Now I'm ready for a fourth song with the dwarfs 😀

Angela Scheiber

As a lover of good fantasy it's always a feast to get a dwarf one. This again is crazy good. The costuming and hair is on a whole another level of awesome this time and the harmonies and the ambience with the drops in the right pitch. Uh, my vibe loving heart is loving it sooooooooo much! I love your tone in the higher ranges, it's so crisp and soothing while the deeper range just grabs you and move you from inside out. Huff, so good! Thanks again Geoff and every awesome person involved in that treasure of a piece! One note for the preview, there is a split second of the video where it kinda mini freezes around 4:47 on my device, maybe look into that shortly before full release.

Rahel

BEAUTIFUL💗!!! Like a warm hug!

Claudia Russi Fischer

I absolutely hate beards, but I like Geoff‘s voice enough to overlook them 😀

Filiz E

That is absolutely beautiful!!! I love how you added Gimli to the video, for it to make sense with the other dwarves, just brilliant!!! The LOTR nerd inside me is sooo very happy right now.. Thank you so so much!!! After the second time listening, I have to mention I LOVE the instrumentation!! What a beautiful and powerful composition!!

Liath Noy

It seems like you outdid yourself (again). This song rendition is amazing, and your voice for each character is gorgeous. It gives me goosebumps, in a good way.

Cheryl Smith

I got your last CD and I love it. How about a CD with your Christmas songs?

Holly G

The harmonies are insane!

Holly Wakeman

This was amazing! I havent heard the song before but listened to this 3 times in a row. Gorgeous harmonies as usual, and I can tell a lot of work and effort went into this video so thank you Geoff for sharing with us.

Karen Campbell

I'm a huge LOTR fan. This is both beautiful and amazing, thank you!

Grand Nagus

It's an editing thing, i think, i see it too, the stop of the video at 4:47.

Grand Nagus

I love it. It's really beautiful, Geoff. The only thing i have to say is that your voice needs getting used to vs John Rhys-Davies, he has such an iconic voice, it's almost funny, in a good way mind you, to have your voice on a person in that costume. Also i love the story of the video, Gimli being the only 'real' dwarf and the others being ghosts. I still would like to see Diggy Diggy Hole at some point, sir.

Maria Stoycheva

Gimli's nose is spot-on! you managed to look so much like him! <3

Christine

Overwhelmingly beautiful! You have perfectly encapsulated the solemnity and deep sadness the words portray. I love the medieval mood and ballad like quality you have created - truly stunning. Each of your voices total perfection. Of the three songs this is my favourite. Thank you so much for the dedication you give to each of your songs and the respect you have for the original artists. You are amazing!

Sarah Borzelli

OMG! My daytime brain wasn't braining last night and it only hit me now that the whole glory and epicness of the soundtrack and backing vocals swells with the forging of swords and mining of gems - which of course is a huge thing for dwarves 🤯🤯🤯 all the hammering sounds and sounds of drawn blades... I grasped before that it got more grand when they tell about more heroic times... Geoff you're even more brilliant than yourself!

𝕸𝖊𝖑𝖆𝖓𝖎𝖊 ♡ 𝕵𝖚𝖑𝖎𝖆 𝕾

This is a truly epic masterpiece, Geoff! I love the costumes, the weapons, the backdrops, the drop at the beginning and end, how the dwarves appear and disappear. The voices and everything around it! It's magical, thank you so much!

Ellen Reiser

I do love some Tolkien. Nicely done. Maybe the next one can be an elvish song so you don’t have to grow those beards. I would love to hear you do Into the West. Keep up the great work. Sorry i missed the premiere.

Samuel Siggelow

I mean.. they also come in sevens.. *wink wink* lol

Silv E

Beautiful, epic, and moving, just as it should be. I love the way you portrayed Gimli with the departed dwarves (although *technically* Bofur should still be alive 🤓). A perfect conclusion to the dwarf trilogy. ❤️ I'd love to hear you do more songs from middle earth, "Into the West" in particular, which would make more sense from a non-dwarf character anyway, thus sparing your facemeat. You're the absolute best. (I LOVE THESE GUYS!)

Samuel Volle

I heartily second that recommendation as well, sir.

Agnes EvaR

1. I LOVE THESE GUYS! All of them. And everyone has so beautiful voice. 2. MORE DWARVES PLEASE! And when you reach 7, it'll be "Heigh ho" time. I have known the Clamavi De Profundis version and also the Colm McGuinness version. But they left space for the Geoff-magic in the song. And the magic happened. How can you sing so gorgeously in all of your registers? The whole song and the video are just awesome. Beautiful harmonies and instrumentation, costumes, lighting, interesting noises in the background (I can't wait hearing them in the karaoke version.) I'm not a LOTR fan, but the comments of my fellow patrons point how much attention you pay to the details. You are incredible, Geoff!

Liz Dyson

Hi Geoff. I absolutely Adore this. I'm not a Movie addict but The effort you put into these videos is amazing. Sorry I wasn't up to watching live. I'm sick at the ATM. Also I've sent a message to you all on the Voiceplay Patreon. Not sure if you've had time to read it yet.

Rachel Dempsey

Firstly this is brilliant!!! So fricken good! Secondly, am I wrong for now really wanting to see Geoff do Legolas and/or Aragorn?? The long blonde wig especially! 😂🥰

Rachel Dempsey

I would love to see Geoff in Legolas’ long blonde locks! 😂

Ellen Reiser

I think he would make a lovely Galadriel 🤣🤣🤣

Gillian Drysdale

I want to know details of the Gimli diet…e.g. How does it make you a couple of feet taller and far slimmer? But it it turns out that a side effect is that you grow a very long very ginger beard I’ll pass!

SunnyOutlook

I am so impressed with this song. It's beautiful. One of your best. I can't wait to see how it is received at the public premier. It's sensational and all the other wonderful descriptors out there. You've once again you have outdone yourself.

Amanda W

Man, I really wish I could gift subs to people. I want to share it with everyone.

Doyne

This is marvelous. Thank you, Geoff and Kathy et al.!

Annett Günther

Fantastically beautiful. I am at a loss for words. I'm overwhelmed by your voice. Thank you for this experience. The scenery, costumes, all the detailes... great! So much work, thanks to the whole crew. I love it!

candi lunsford

Once again in awe Geoff. Thank you and thanks to everyone who helps make these possible. What a great song to wake up to this morning.

Gary Henderson

OMG. This is A MAY ZING. I have whole-body chills listening. And I THINK I picked out the new dwarf....

Gary Henderson

I would also like to believe that that is Layne doing all those water-drop sounds. :)

Swan

What a beautiful version of this fantastic song!! I am currently editing a bunch of research papers for a volume entirely dedicated to Tolkien, so this is the perfect timing for me. Thank you for such wonderful music! (Also what happened to the chain mail shirt from Dragonborn? Or was that just too heavy/hot)

Kristin Taggart

Wow... just wow. I've never heard this song before, and it gave me chills. Awesome job, Geoff!

Deborah Krach

I love this song. You are truly talented

Jen A AKA Dravengal

Okay. Midway through Thorin's first line, I thought "Okay. This is my favorite song with the Dwarves." And it is. I didn't think I could like anything MORE than I liked the other two, but here we are! I'm so happy! And Gimli is looking a bit lean, he and Legolas must be working out together! Oh man. Don't add Legolas. I honestly couldn't handle it. Be kind to that facemeat Geoff! Thanks for another epic song, and to all who helped make it possible!

Dale George Hjertaas

I am a huge Tolkien fan and I love seeing the songs he wrote brought to vibrant life like this. Thank you.

Moss

Such lovely work, Geoff. Thank you for bringing back the dwarves for this one!!

Leonie Frenkert-Ghazi

I had to regain my composure first. Last night, when you put the video on Patreon, I was unable to write anything. What makes your songs so special? It's not just the voice, I think it's your perfection: everything belongs together, the setting, the costumes, the makeup, the hairstyles. Of course you're understating it when you say you just have to go and sing. No! It's much more than that! You identify with the song, you don't just sing it, you live it so that you grasp the mood of the song in body and soul. In Germany, it was late at night when I heard about the release on Patreon. For the rest of the night, I dreamed vividly of Middle Earth. Geoff, you're very lucky to have Kathy by your side, not everyone has that kind of support. And the guys from VoicePlay, who are always there to help and advise you. A wonderful symbiosis. Add to that your musical talent, your feeling for harmony and of course your extraordinary voice. Stay the way you are.

NomNomNomdePlume

Great as always, but be careful with that proboscis; it's a slippery slope. Just look at where it took Michael Jackson...

Kara L Joy

First off, the song and especially the production is AMAZING as always! Now, on to serious business, I really think I need to see that twirly moo-stach on a villain tying the damsel to train tracks. Or maybe some Captain Hook energy. Snidely Whiplash? Glorious mustache my friend!! 🥸

B Sprak

I love this more each time I listen. It's solemn, magnificent, and simply magic👑

Just Another Bard

Uuunnnnfffff!! I seriously love that song, and I hadn't dared to hope that you would sing it. This is grand. Someone once said that you have tectonic plates instead of vocal cords. Your voice can certainly make the earth move. Thank you for sharing this! ♥

Badger77722

Now, THIS is a dwarvish song! While I liked Misty Mountains, it's ALMOST a dwarvish song, but just doesn't quite get there for me. I See Fire is still my absolute favorite video from Geoff, but it doesn't have the dwarvish feel to me - it's a very good song, performed magnificently! But this...now THIS is a song I can absolutely see/hear dwarves singing in the mines, or sitting in an ale-house (beer-house? mead-house?) and everybody joining in after one dwarf starts it going! I LOVE THESE GUYS!

Lady Payne

This has moved to my top spot. It is so hauntingly beautiful. How could I have been so lucky as to experience your songs? Oh yea, YDMAWJ was on Facebook, and you are really, really hot, so I looked you up in You Tube. ;) Your voice amazes me every time.

Gail R.

Gimli with the cool axe might attract LOTR fans who missed the earlier songs. My initial reaction to the image was that it wasn't crisp. I think that's because of the background to the right, because "Gimli" is actually fine.

Donate Zechiel

Same too me! Hear it again and again and again…. Every single note fits… so wonderful!

Donate Zechiel

Love that song !! Wonderful!! Thank you Geoff

Crisstina Joubert

Another one destined for your millions chart, thank you so much!!!!!❤️

Ann Durham

I don't know the proper musical term but it might be "color" Your voice in the middle dwarf is different from your normal tone, and so suited for this song.

Maria Moore

I would like to say thank you guys behind the scenes that help make this video epic. I love the range of your voice Geoff. You knocked out the park

Debs Badger

The chainmail shirt Cesar wore in Dragonborn (along with the rest of his costume) was part of the first charity auction and was won by a patron.

Swan

Well, I suppose that is a fair reason for not wearing it in this video ;) Thanks for the reply, Debs!

Jacky Friedman

By the way. I googled the meaning of Clamavi De Profundus..... Clamavi de profundis is a Latin phrase that translates to "From the depths, I have cried out to you, O Lord". It comes from Psalm 130, which is traditionally known as De profundis because of its opening words.

I would rock that from Nov 1st on...

I love this arrangement! My only complaint is that it's too short 😍

You know I'm a Tolkien fanatic as most of my pets have had Tolkien names: a cat named Gandalf, dogs named Frodo, Bilbo, and Kili; more cats named Shadowfax, Stryder, and now Thorin Oakenpaw. Had to slip over into CS Lewis to name one cat Reepicheep because he cheeps and has a broken tail. But I digress...ALL these covers have thrilled me, and I think this one's now my favorite! I really love how smooth it is...so beautiful. Who wrote this particular song? Was it actually written by Clamavi de Profundis or did they just perform/record it first?

Tolkien wrote the words as a poem and Clamavi de Profundis put music to it :)

It’s a trilogy, isn’t it?

This arrangement makes a person stop and think about what the world of the dwarves was like before their world fell apart
