Maybe it's just me, but isn't that first note the same as Ghost Riders? I've had Ghost Riders as my phone ringtone since it came out years ago and it sure sounds the same. And yes I still jump every time I hear it 😂

On hearing this music bit a movie started playing in my mind. On the first "boom" (surely it's a musical term) camera is on the ground level showing a dusty/sandy street and someone wearing cowboy boots steps in the frame making the dust fly about even more. Then with the gentle guitar we pan around and see it's a main street of some frontier town and people are walking around throwing few glances at the person arriving. Then at the last "boom" the camera focuses in on the guy standing at the opposite end of the street standing there waiting with pistols on his belt wearing all black.

Okay, if I have to make a "serious" guess...definitely getting western vibes ala Unshaken. You were talking of making Poor Wayfaring Stranger, and using a Western setting and the Unshaken and Ghost Riders gang would fit quite nicely.
